Moto had bad memories of watering holes. Of her sister torturing her, pushing her into the water one way or another. But water was vital. And Moto had grown used to the sound of water nearby when she had resided in Kiuma's fledgling pride. She sighed and bent down for a drink. Water was needed for life. The pride would need to have a reliable source of water...a spring or a good sized river.
And food. An area with good hunting. And close enough to the demons to keep a close eye on them, and to keep her promise of being a buffer between Kiuma's pride and the demons. There was much to be done. And so little time. So very little time.

After having traveled with Xinavane for a little while, Ka was on his own again - both of them having agreed to separate and search for the supposed pride of demon-hunters.
He hadn't yet found anyone who knew anything really ... concrete, however. But Ka was patient and he was fairly content to wait until he found real information on them.
It might only be a rumor with no truth to it, after all.
Up ahead, he scented water and altered his course a bit to pad up to the other side of that same watering hole Moto was drinking from - pausing to dip his head slightly to the lioness.

Moto's eye caught sight of the other across from her, and she nodded back in acknowledgment. She was also a bit curious.
She'd never seen adornments like the ones he wore, all sun-colored metal with flashes of gems. There was also a...deadly air about him. The same sort Serithi had...the sort that any who was strong of mind and body had. As she finished quenching her thirst...she thought. He looked strong. She wondered if he was demon or otherwise. He certainly didn't have the coloring the demons seemed to favor.
Finished with her drink, she sat back....Then stood and made her way towards him. Perhaps she would inquire.
"Good day, warrior."

Ka also bent down and drank for a moment or two, then raised his head again - looking at the lioness with a little tilt of his head. "Good day," he replied quietly. "But how do you know I am a warrior?"
In a sense, he supposed that he was. And ... well, he guessed it was fairly obvious, what with the armor and the scars. But still, he wondered why everyone always assumed that... It wasn't really as if he always chose to fight.

"It's the way you carry yourself." She smiled softly. "My mate is much the same way." How to broach the subject of demons...She would seek an opportunity as they talked. If he decided to walk away rather than talk...then she would be direct about it.

Ka blinked at that and then smiled faintly - even as a bit of sadness touched his heart. Farlest...
"Ah, you are a healer? I've known some other healers in my life... I am Ka'hmesh," he replied, introducing himself in turn.
Then he decided to ask a question of his own. "Do you live near here?"

She nodded. "I am, and sadly, I do not...though my little pride and I are on the way to lands we can call our own." Yes...with all the things a pride needed, Moto knew just a place. A perfect place.
"You are a traveler?" Searching for something, if she read his question right...

Ka eyed her for a moment and the nodded. "Of a sort. I'm ... looking for something too," he admitted. She had a pride...?
He wondered what sort of pride it was, and if maybe she had heard of the demon-hunting group. He would likely ask, soon.

Looking for something? He certainly had the rest of her attention. "Perhaps I can be of assistance? I'm a bit more well-traveled than your average lioness...Perhaps I can point you in the right direction?" What was he looking for?
Perhaps her pride? Oh...that would certainly be good. The fledgling pride needed more adults. If not...well, Moto would not begrudge help when she could give it.

Ka smiled slightly at that and nodded. "Yes... I ..." He paused, trying to think of how best to do this. "I'm not sure if you've heard, but there's a pride not far from here of lions who ... well, they think that they're demons."
His ears flattened back for a moment. "Most of them act like it, anyway."
"But I'm not looking for them... I had heard there was another group forming to try and fight them... " he trailed off, hoping she didn't think he was delusional or something.

Ah! So he was looking for them! She nodded and smiled. "I know of the demons...the scars I bear were given to me by one. I also know of their hunters." She bowed.
"I am Moto'nyota, one of the leaders of the fledgling Mwako'bi'Giza." She shifted, taking on the somewhat leaderly stance she'd ended up adopting in her short time leading. "What business do you have with the pride?"

Ka blinked at that, startled. Since they were fairly close to the demon lands, he thought that she may have heard of them... but to learn she was actually a part of the demon-hunters! This was ... well, perfect.
He smiled faintly at the change in her stance and his own shifted a bit to match - standing proud but deferring to her authority as a part of the pride, and one of the leaders. "I wish to join your pride," he said simply. "I want to be a part of this fight against evil."

Good. This one did wish to join their numbers. However...Her countenance turned stern. "Do you fully understand what joining our pride means?" It was strange, to hear her voice speaking for the good of the pride, and not just herself. "Even the peaceful among us know they face death. Even the brightest soul among us knows we shall never truly be a part of the world of light, not until the demons who would harm us are gone. This is not a decision to make lightly..."
She took a breath and continued. "If you do understand, you must find a place in the pride to fit in. We cannot afford one who does not pull their weight." She doubted this one would be lazy...but she had to cover all options. Moto spoke now not just for herself, but for each member of her pride, her family...

At first, Ka was slightly startled by her change in attitude, but as he listened... he understood. If she was one of the leaders, she would have to ask these kinds of questions. Have to tell him these things ... because she was right.
"I will do whatever I must to rid the world of demons," he said finally - his own voice firm. And there was a promise there, sincere... determined.

Moto smiled then. She heard in his voice the same resolve she held, the same spirit...and she gave him a slight bow.
"Well then, Ka'hmesh. Welcome to our ranks. When you're ready, the rest of the pride isn't far from here."
