Click to show."Hello Dueling Club Members, I've got a letter and another package from Hagrid our Care of Magical Creatures Professor and Grounds Keeper. The situation with the last pet didn't go to well, and we only just caught it again. There was much apologizing that needed to be done, and explaining on my part, but the good news is that after Hagrid cooled down and understood the situation, he agreed that a Raicho may have been a little much and agreed to send us something smaller and easier to deal with. So lets see what Hagrid sent us this time." biggrin

" 'ello again E'eryone,

Sorry about the misunderstandin' with Ray, our Raicho, but Katieinthebox explained it all an' Professor McGonagall agreed, that a Raicho was a bit much for students. So to make up fer it I got you all something really special, hardly see 'em anymore with what happen with 'em and the early Quidditch players. So I'd be appreciation it, if you didn't tell anyone I sent it to ya. Be really careful with her too, not many of her kind left. Be sure to feed her well and let the seekers in the group get a look at her, they should really like this one.

Yours Truly,
Rubeus Hagrid

P.S.

Again I've included a note on the cage, on how to take care o' her. Good luck."

"Well at least this cage is small compared to the other one." Sigh of relief, "Well lets see what we have."

Katieinthebox manually unwraps the brown paper, looks at the cage and then tears off the note and reads it. There is a moment of silence on her part before she steps aside to let the Dueling Club members see into the cage. There is a little golden cage, like that a canary would be in, and inside is what appears to be snitch.

"Oh no. Please no. We can get in so much trouble for this. Oh Hagrid... I am going to have a talk with that man he will never for get." Exasperated sigh. "Well everyone here is what we have." Katieinthebox holds up the cage for everyone to see. There is a tiny round bird sitting on it's preach staring at everyone. Its golden feathers and red, jewel-like eyes glow in the light. Every girl in the room lets out a collective 'awe', while all the seekers in the room notice it is strangely familiar.

"Yes, ladies and gents this is a Snidget and we are in such deep trouble. This little bird is the original version of the snitch we use today. The Snidget is where the swiftness and agility of the snitch comes from. This bird was so prized for it's gold feathers and ruby red eyes that it is almost extinct, that and seekers of early Quidditch, had a nasty habit of accidentally killing it when they caught it. Cute little thing, yes, but catching one and keeping it as our dear friend Hagrid has done results in heavy fines and a trip to Azkanban for up to five years." Katieinthebox sets the cage down carefully on a desk and turns back to the class. "Everyone can come up, two at a time and get a good look at this little one, before we sent her back to Hagrid. I am sorry but she is just to valuable..."
*Crash*

The class turns back to find the cat of one of the students wrapped up in cage wreckage, but no Snidget in sight. Just then the little bird stops in front of a student, several people, including Katieinthebox, watch it while holding their breath and then it zips off.

eek Complete silence for several second.

"For the love of all that is holy, not again! " Katieinthebox's shoulders slump and she heaves a heavy sigh. "Okay everybody listen up! Who's ever cat that is, is dead. No, no detention or warnings, and yes, you couldn't have known but I am going to have to hurt you, anyway."

"Secondly we have to get that bird back. This is not a normal dueling experience, the will be NO FIGHTING this bird, and you can't just declare a duel with it after finding it.

You need to go out and look over, Dueling Club Member's and staff's rooms and offices (profiles) for the bird. Once you have found her you must PM it's location to me and a thread will be set up for you, in which you have a single opportunity to catch the bird. You must out roll the bird in order to catch it. Stunning spells, cage spells and time freezing spells are all allowed. You may cast any one to get the bird still enough to where you can safely catch her and bring her back to me.

To recap:
Catch the Snigdet

Snidget is at:
Hiding in one of the rooms in Hogwarts. (Profiles)

DP: 30
Attack and Defense: one 20 sided dice (Won't attack, will only flee.)
Weak against: stunning spells (Spells that will work)

Please note that sharing the location with your friends won't work as the Snidget will move every time it is spotted by a Dueling Club Member. Good luck everyone, I can buy us a month of time with all the over flow of late Christmas letters, and returns by mail, as an excuse to Hagrid, but please do hurry.
