Platform: Wii
Animal Crossing: City Folk is a video game in development for the Wii console. It is part of the Animal Crossing series. The title was announced as a Wii game that markets the WiiConnect24 feature of the console. The game was officially announced at E3 2008 on July 15 at the Nintendo press conference, where it was revealed that it will be released in North America in 2008. Nintendo later announced their goal for the release date of November 16, 2008 for North America.
Gameplay Animal Crossing: City Folk's gameplay is built upon the gameplay typical of an Animal Crossing game.
The primary new addition to City Folk is a new city area. Accessible to players by bus (driven by Kapp'n), the city offers a variety of activities. In the city, players can shop for clothes, accessories, and expensive furniture at Gracie Grace, a fashion boutique shop. They can redo their hairstyles, and even choose to replace their face with that of their Mii, at Harriet’s beauty salon. You can also go to Kicks the shoe shine skunk who will change the color of your shoes. Other activities available at the city take advantage of the Wii system's Wi-Fi capabilities, such as an auction house run by a gyroid who's name is Lloid, where players can auction off items to other players via Wi-Fi connection, an office for the Happy Room Academy run by Lyle, where players can see how well other players’ towns are progressing, and a theater to learn emotions from Dr.Shrunk at 600 bells a show. Redd will return, but again, a password is needed. Katrina is also rumored to be in the city as stated by people who attended PAX. Her purpose is currently unknown, and her existence has yet to be confirmed. Also, the Able Sisters are back as well as Nook's.
The holiday characters such as Jack, and the reindeer named Jingle, both from the original game, are back, as well as new additions such as Zipper T. the Easter Bunny.
Other changes and additions to gameplay include the reintroduction of several real world holidays, such as Bunny Day (Easter), Christmas, and Halloween, which were absent from Animal Crossing: Wild World. Additionally, players can now customize the front, back, and sleeves of clothes, as opposed to only being able to customize clothes as a whole. Also, the players will live in a house each, rather than sharing one between the four.
There will be downloadable content available as a free service. New furniture and items will be released periodically.
There will also be a host of DS connectivity functionality. For example, owners of Wild World will have the option of moving their character to City Folk, and everything will be transferred with the character, including for what they are wearing and their catalogue. Additionally, the DS can be used to transfer characters between Wiis as a means of visiting other player's towns, however it has not been said if a copy of Wild World will be needed for this or whether the function will work via DS Download Play
The game will also be the first Wii game to take advantage of WiiSpeak (sold separately), a new microphone option for the Wii enables voice communication over Wi-Fi, and can also have live text chat using a USB Keyboard. Also, players can communicate with other players by sending messages to either their town, Wii Message Board, cell-phone, or personal computer.
Development In a 2006 interview, Katsuya Eguchi, leader of Animal Crossing's production development, stated, "someone could send a letter from their cellphone or from an email address on a PC to the Wii, and then the player living in the town in Animal Crossing could receive that letter." In another interview with IGN, Katsuya Eguchi also discussed how his team continues exploring potential ways to take advantage of the WiiConnect24 feature such as allowing friends to visit other towns or leave messages while the machine is in standby mode

OOOOh! Thank you for the info! *___* I have the DS and GCN games and have been wondering about the Wii one for a LONG TIME! Since they announced that they canceled AC2 to remake it for the Wii. That was upsetting for me.

Don't they always bring out games at the worst times? LOL. It's like "Hey it's Christmas time so we should shove out all the games at once," but that leaves a lot of people with, "Gah! I can only get ____ or _____ which game do I want?" Decisions decisions... I've seen AC:CF in like... every store that has an electronics department and it's making me go coo coo.

((It's very different from high school. The teachers are either stricter or more laid-back.))
