The female snorted as the vultures flew from the carcass, and mainly the bared fangs that were bared in their direction. Green eyes narrowed on her prey, the small antelope that only had a little ‘meat’ left on its already small bones. She didn’t care though, if others had touched it; she was hungry and quite lazy at the moment to put it bluntly. It was Ausi’s luck that she strolled upon the carcass, not that she lacked in hunting skills. Ausisikio had been on her own since she was a young pup, wanting to break away from the small ‘pack’ of fourteen brothers and sisters she was forced to be in. Seeing the same view everyday wasn’t something the Black Ears was keen to doing, even at a young age.

Safi watched as a flock of vultures flew overhead, obviously rather annoyed. Well...more annoyed than usual. He hadn't met a non-annoyed vulture just yet. He shook himself and continued forward. Vultures gave him the willies. An unfamiliar scent caught his attention and his curiosity. Was it whoever had annoyed the vultures? Or was it someone else? He strode forward, glad when his eyes spotted another wild dog. "Hello!"
She took a bite of the flesh, the taste cold in her mouth. This prey must have been dead for a while, seeing as its blood no longer held that warm taste of a freshly killed beast. She licked her lips, the coppery taste lingering in her mouth as she went for another bite. She stopped, ears flickering behind her. Who dared interrupted her meal. Thinking it was one of those damn felines, the fur on the back of her neck stood on end, a warning growl emitting from her maw.
She turned, her stance relaxing. “Oh…” She blinked, tilting her head. Another wild dog? She hadn’t seen one of them in a while. Heh, for all Ausi knew they could have all fallen off the face of the planet, they were so sparse. “Hello,” she greeted, licking her lips from her little bites.

Safi noticed the kill at her feet, and the state of it. So she was the reason the vultures had been annoyed. "Sorry for interrupting. Curiosity got the better of me." He smiled brightly. "I saw the vultures fly over and well...I was wondering what had them so annoyed." He chuckled. This female reminded him a little of someone... "I'm Safi'mmoja. Have you seen any dogs with coloring or markings similar to mine? I'm trying to find my birth family...but I haven't been having much luck lately."
Ausi’s black ears flipped forward, listening to the male speak. Yeah, she had annoyed the buzzards with their meal, but if she was hungry there was no way some bird brain was going to be picking at a meal that could rightfully be hers. After all, she was bigger than them, and had the small pointed fangs that could outmatch a sharp beak.
”Ausisikio.”
Her head bowed at her introduction, an ear flicking in each direction. ”I’m sorry, I haven’t. You’ve been the only other wild dog I’ve seen in a while now actually,” a smile rose to her maw, “it’s kind of nice seeing another one.” Ausi lips drew into a small smirk, before quickly being replaced with a smile. She wondered if the adolescent was different then her family, or if all wild dogs had the happy go lucky attitude her brother’s and sister’s had when they were pups.

"Ah." He sighed and smiled sadly. "Seems my search continues." Safi could always hope...after all, he had to find them one day, right? And then he could unite his new family with his old...it would be wonderful! "It's always nice seeing another. I see fewer and fewer wild dogs nowadays...Lots of felines though. Even made friends with one. Curious gal, with a running rivalry with a rabbit who keeps following her." He sat down. "Would you mind company too much while you ate? I haven't seen much of anyone the last couple of days...And I already ate, so you don't need to worry about me trying to mooch off you."
She shook her head. Although she disliked company usually, when she hadn’t seen another of her species in who knows when, she greatly welcomed his presence. “I don’t mind.” She stepped aside of the meal, allowing him to go at it if he pleased. It would be rude if she continued to eat while he watched her, and frankly, Ausi wasn’t one to be rude (to an extent, that is).
Her green eyes gazed towards the orangish pelt, “have you been searching awhile?” She smiled softly, sitting at the base of the carcass. “I don’t know where my family is either, perhaps—if I put my will to it, I should attempt to find them. But when you have as much family as I do, it’s hard to remember what any of them looked like.” She grinned, shrugging after she spoke.

Safi shook his head. "Not really. I started only a couple moon-cycles ago. I remember bits and pieces of my family...not a lot, but enough to look for them on." He smiled wistfully. "And I remember their howls." A lioness he'd once met said he had a beautiful voice. If he did, it had to have come from his parents. "I'm sure you'll find 'em one day...even by accident. If you can't remember a sight...then a scent is easy too."
Despite her politeness regarding the food, he just stayed where he was. He'd eaten not long ago, after all, and his belly was happily sated. "So do you just wander about, Ausi?"
“Maybe…” She murmured, though even remembering a scent was hard for Ausi to do.
“Most of the time. Other times I pretend I am a super dog and save others who are in trouble,” She winked towards the other, giggling afterwards. When he asked if she just ‘wandered’ she’d have to make a joke out of it.
“Wandering is boring I find though. I want to find a pack one day…but there seems to be a lack of the species in this areaa” as she had mentioned earlier.

Safi chuckled. "Well then, my lady super dog, I do believe you can rest easy, since there doesn't seem to be trouble about." He grinned, going along with the joke. It was always nice to have conversation that wasn't always serious.
The golden dog nodded in agreement with her last statement. "A pack would certainly be nice. Maybe...there's one further north? There seemed to be more wild dogs as I went up that way." Maybe...maybe that's the direction he needed to go, to find his family...
“Yes sir, commander!” She rose to sit on her back legs, having a paw raise to her head to salute the golden canine.
“Well then, if you go that way, may I accompany you?” Ausi’s ears perked forward curiously. “No one likes to travel alone, right?” She grinned. “I can look for a pack, and you can look for your family. Both of us will get something we want, yes?” She smiled.

Safi nodded, chuckling happily. Trading jokes and information was the way a good conversation should go! The best of both worlds!
"I certainly wouldn't mind the company. Traveling alone is no fun." Lonely days, lonelier nights....that wasn't the way to travel. Oh he would be so happy once the pups were old enough to travel with him...
“Then together we shall be known as Commander and Super Ausi. We will travel to the North, and all we meet will forever know of the traveling partners.” She laughed, and moved forward, wagging her tail. At least Safi was a friendly wild dog. She could see her and him being friends for a while.
“To the North, ho!” She stated enthusiastically like a musher.
