Henri held Isabella's hand as they walked down the street, window shopping as he waited for Izzy to show interest. At the moment, the girl just seemed altogether flabbergasted with her surroundings. Wet sea air, sunshine, people mulling about in hats, brick shops and sweet smells. This was her first time in town since she'd been given to Henri.

Today was a good day, by Tan Pan's standards. She didn't completely remember whose idea it was to come visit this little town and go shopping - probably SuSus - but it seemed to be a good one. Everyone looked to be in high spirits and having a good time, particularly SuSu.
The child in question was skipping around joyously, standing up on her tiptoes to look into windows and squeal happily. Her brothers also seemed a bit interested, but less dramatically - the boys were shyly clinging to Tan Pan's hands and looking curiously at each window they passed. She had to ask repeatedly to get them to tell her what they wanted to see. Rin Kin had wandered off, probably to do a bit of sight-seeing and take some photographs. And Karyn - surprisingly not on her laptop - was investigating a book shop they'd passed a small ways away.
Yes, definitely seemed to be a good day. They were happy and Tan Pan wasn't overly tired and actually able to spend time with them. That was always a plus - being able to spend quality time with her children.

Henri smiled as he saw the young woman and what she supposed was her children wandering down the street. He smiled and hefted Isabella onto a hip. The girl just stared, mouth slightly open. So many things! She turned then, pointing to a little shop with toys and candy. Of course! Leave it to a toddler. Henri smiled and gave the woman a little nod before ducking inside the shop.
"Duckie," Izzy said, pointing to a little stuffed animal duck on a rack.
"Mmhm. You have that duckie at home!" Henri laughed.
"Ya!" And Izzy giggled and hugged, her weird muscle-hands suction-cupping to his shirt. He was slowly getting used to that.

Of course, being that SuSu and the twins were little, they too wanted to explore the toy shop. However, the moment the four got inside, the girl spotted something MUCH more interesting to go investigate.
"Oooooooh!" she mumbled, rushing over to look up at Izzy and Henri. "Wow, you have scales on your head! That's cooooool!" she blurted out to the other little girl, staring at her with a huge smile and a look of amazement on her features.
Tan Pan sighed and shook her head, gently walking the boys away from the respective plushies they'd been looking at. "Asuka, dear, please mind your manners." she requested of the girl, softly.

Izzy giggled, bringing a fist to her mouth and smiling. Her eyes squinched up and her nose wrinkled.
"Ya!" she said again. Henri crouched and placed the girl on the ground, and Izzy ran to Susu, touching a braid, "Pwetty hai'w is pwetty!"
"Is she yours?" Henri asked the woman.

"Thank you! Your hair is pretty too." SuSu said happily, ignoring her mother's comment in favor of talking to her new found friend.
"Ah, yes, yes she is." Tan Pan said, giving a sheepish half-smile. That was the most she ever gave these days but from her, it was a lot.
"All three of them are." she added, indicating the two little boys, staring curiously at their elder sister and the other girl.

"They're adorable," Henri said, looking for a ring on a finger. He had a bad feeling about this poor, sweet woman. IZzy didn't care about such things.

"Thanks." the woman said softly, glancing down at the boys, both of which were tugging on their mother's hands, wanting to be allowed to go investigate the strange toddler - or the store, respectively - more.
Releasing them reluctantly, she turned her head so she could watch her one son - Kyon Ke - go over to shyly greet Izzy and investigate her funky head scales, while her other son - Shai Singh - went to look at some nearby plushies.
"What's your name?" Susu asked the other girl with a huge grin on her face. Yay! Friends!

"Ee-tha-bella," Izzy said, grinning and giggling when the boy touched her plates. She couldn't feel it, but she knew it was happening. Her girdle writhed.
"Isabella," Henri cleared-up, giving a little laugh, "They're sweet."

SuSu grinned broadly. "What a pretty name! I'm Asuka Suli but you can call me SuSu. This is my brother, Kyon Ki, and that over there's my other brother, Shai Singh! And that - " this time she pointed up at the shy, bald woman who was talking to Izzy's father " - is Mommy. My aunties came with us too but they're out looking at stuff. Is that your daddy?"
Kyon quietly patted the girl's scales, content to let his chatterbox sister talk.
"Asuka, don't talk her ear off, dear." again, the tentative voice of Tan Pan was directed at her daughter before she turned back to the man. "Thank you, again."

Izzy waved to each child in turn, and then nodded, her hair flopping about.
"Iss mah Daddy."
Henri smiled and nodded to the woman. Hm, he had never been good with meeting new people, or more so breaking the ice. He just approached the woman and offered her his hand.
"I'm Henri. Henri Donateaux."

Smiling that gentle little half-smile once more, she accepted the proffered hand. "Tan Pan Murica." she answered, nodding.
"Oooh. I don't have a Daddy. Is yours nice?" SuSu stated bluntly, bouncing on her toes. The girl had had very little experience with paternal figures - the closest she'd gotten being that one man her mother had dated before getting sick but he'd been mean and nasty and not a Daddy.
Tan Pan blushed a little at her daugther's statement but decided to not reprimand her on it. No use in stopping SuSu from being SuSu.

Henri shook the woman's hand and smiled. He noted what the little girl had said. There was no daddy in the picture. That poor woman.
"Listen, this might seem a little strange, but would you and your kids like a boat ride?"
Isabella smiled and nodded furiously. She seemed to prefer body language over words, when available.

Tan Pan opened her mouth to say that she wasn't entirely sure when the ever talkative Asuka answered for her.
"Oooooooh! A Boat! I've never been on one of those! That'd be COOOOOOOOOL!" she said, excitedly jumping a bit.
Tan Pan laughed a little at that - a soft, almost constrained sound. "It seems they would. The boys will go anywhere that Asuka goes and SuSu seems to be interested in the prospect."

Henri nodded and smiled.
"I'm no creeper, I promise that. I'm the lighthouse keeper out on crescent point? I haven't seen another person in days, and I think you and your kids could have fun. Do you ind if I finish my shopping first, though?" he asked, pointing to the cash register. Izzy just looked up at him, twirling her hair around a finger. It appeared that she'd be on a boat with her new friend!
