On the guitar, how do guitars make a disco sound like in the SHAFT theme by Isaac Hayes?

I haven't heard that song, but speaking in general what you are looking for is a wah effect....or wait maybe thats for porno music....

Yeah, I just listened to it to make sure. It's definitely a Wah pedal, and maybe a phaser or rotary effect.
