"Don't kill anyone." Rene said, settling herself on a log as Zach squished sand between his toes. He rolled his eyes and looked back at her, sticking out his tongue.
"Won't." He promised, heading out into the ocean. Wheee! Much more fun than a pool, though it did have less screamers.
Zach had managed to be good (Read: not sting Rene for a whole day) and she'd decided to reward him by taking him to the coast for a day. He seemed to be enjoying it. Hey, perhaps with some positive reinforcement she could break him of being an a*****e early on.

Henri was extremely cautious as he and his new daughter climbed down the rocks from the lighthouse. It was unreasonably hot today, and with no air conditioning, Henri decided to take the little chiton girl to the beach to play in the water.
"Okay, honey. Just step right on the...oh, okay."
Isabella moved down the rocks easily, her hands appearing to almost stick as she moved slowly down. Eventually, the man with her just stood at the bottom and waited. Hm. here we go. When Isabella reached the sand, Henri picked her up. She wore little-kid pink foam sandals and a blue swimsuit, whereas he himself was just in a pair of swimtrunks. He was a real beach man. No preparation. He squinted against the sun as he placed Isabella on the ground and waved to the winged girl on one of the slabs of driftwood.
"Afternoon!"
Isabella toddled for the water, arms out in front of her lest she fall. There was a funny boy in the water! And he had a cool head!

Rene raised on hand to wave. "Yeah." She said, frowning. Ah, great. People. A dude and a funny little girl, who was walking in the direction of her evil little stinger boy. "Zach, remember-" She called out.
Zach sunk lower in the water, puffing his cheeks out and watching the girl. Ararar. I are poisonous thing, girl! Do not try to give me your cooties!

Henri chuckled and sat down on a rock near the girl. Ah, sarcastic, angry humor. Nothing like it.
"Nice day, huh?"
Isabella splashed into the water until she was a couple of feet from the boy and sank lower herself, puffing out her cheeks like him. She didn't understand, boy! Either that or she didn't care!

Rene snorted, shifting in her dress, chains clanking. "Pretty damn hot." She said, watching the water. Hey, with kids who looked a little older, or those who looked like they could take care of themselves, she didn't care too much about what the little b*****d did. But that girl was little.
Zach frowned at her and rose up, cheeks still puffed. "No. You has cooties."

Henri didn't seem nearly as worried.
"Well, yeah. That sucks pretty bad."
Isabella rose and looked at the boy like he was crazy. Cooties? What was those?! Certainly not something she had! The toddler shook her head defiantly.

Rene just sighed, wanting a cigarette. "Granted, the water's probably not much better." She said. Pleh. Water.
Zach nodded. "You's a girl. Has cooties!"

"I dunno. It's usually a lil' cooler than th'air," Henri said wit a little nod, squinting to look at the kids. It didn't look like anyone was in immediate danger. "I'm gonna have a go at it either way. You gonna join me?"
Isabella frowned and glared. What a mean boy! She wasn't sure she liked him!
"Not a cooties," she said, crossing her legs. Daddy had not called that a "cooties".

"Can't swim, don't have a suit." Rene said, lifting one of her arm chains. "I sink." She'd nearly drowned once in the family pool, and didn't wanna repeat that in the ocean.
"Cooties." Zach repeated. "Girl cooties!"

Isabella shrieked from the water, paddling back to shore and running, arms out, toward her father. She clung to him, and he gave an 'oof' when he was smacked by the sudden wall of muscle. He tried to pull her arms off, but they wouldn't budge.
"What, Izzy?"
"BOY IS MEAN!"

Rene sighed. "Daycare, one day, and he learns all about the dangers of cooties." And he'd taught his new friends lots of things as well. Zach had not went to daycare after that.

What?! Now Izzy was ALL confused! Daddy said boys DIDN'T have a "cooties"! Oh well! Maybe they did!
