So I'm watching TV, and I see the first Star Wars playing (and by first, I'm not talking episode I, I'm talking episode IV), and because there's really nothing else and I love Harrison Ford and it's been ages since I'd seen them, I decided to watch them, and I've come to a decision.
Balthier is a rip-off of Han Solo.
They're so alike it's uncanny. Both are pirates, both have non-human partners, both are pilots, both have the same personality, both are pursued by bounty hunters, and both (depending on your view point) fall in love with a princess. Even their ships and clothing styles are similar: if you observe the Strahl with it's wings back to the Millenium Falcon, they look alike, and both Han and Balthier are wearing tight pants, large belts, a vest, and a white shirt.
The only question that remains: who is sexier? xd

I do believe I was watching at the same time as you. I only caught the end, though, and I don't remember enough about the rest to make a great judgment, but... Yeah. o_o Sheesh, now I've really got to rewatch it from the beginning.
By the way? Balthier is.

If Fran is indeed Chewie, I seriously hope there are no romantic relations between her and Balthier, because I don't want to think of Harrison Ford in that way. And somehow, I don't think Chewie could pull of the thong look. gonk xd
If you were watching it on Spike late at night, then yes, we were watching it at the same time. xd After seeing it, I've decided that I need to rewatch the trilogy just to see if I can find similar connections (also, at some deeply denied part of my being, I think the orignal star wars are kinda cool).
Harrison Ford has the bonus of being real, though.

That is a seriously scarring image. eek
Indeed I was. Yay, awesome! mrgreen Me too. stare
I'm not entirely sure that's a bonus. You've got all those pesky human things to deal with, then.

Both Fran and Chewie are impossible to understand, though. xd
If I understand correctly, episode V will be playing on tuesday at the same time (Empire Strikes Back is by far the best out of all of them), and I will so be watching it to see if I can find more parallels. Some other ones that have nothing to do with Balthier or Solo: Both Luke and Vaan want to be pilots, Mos Eisly (the space port on Tatooine) and Rabanastre look very similar, and the bad guy is an evil Empire.
If by pesky human things you're refering to waste excretion and human limitations, then yeah, I see your point.

Ultimeica666 you dont know how han and chewbacca met? I know...want me to tell you? Actually I don't think I know that either. Care to share? =D In the second movie, there's a floating city. It's netural (well, not offically, but it's pretty small), and is a mining city. Bhujerba (why is that mispelt?), anyone?

Bhujerba (why is that mispelt?), anyone? well if youre using firefox, its probably because chances are that its not in firefox's dictionary of allowed words. humorously enough, neither is the word firefox. but yeah, id say that Balthier and Han are pretty much exactally alike, and that Bhujerba is most likely a rip off of that city. i however was not watching at that time, and i havent seen the movies in a really long time either razz
