 A slow day, and it was only noon. the sun shines softly behind billowy clouds as a small breeze begins to pick up. a young teen sitting on a rock looks over her shoulder. a small sigh escapes her lips as she gets into a more comfortable position. her stomach growls softly, but she ignores it. nothing is more important to her right now than sitting on this rock. she looks over her shoulder again, but nothing is to be seen. "its been almost a full day, has she not noticed. or maybe she dosent care. its not like she cant find me, im on a rock in the middle of a trail." she sighs again and lays down.

 Above the lone teen sitting in the path, a rustling came from the trees that was not caused by the wind. A crack of a twig, followed by a gasp and several thuds interrupted the mostly quiet day, ending in an orange and black, half scaled and half furred form hitting the ground along with various dislodged foliage.
"Ow," the young Dragonfly teen groaned as he got himself up. A quick shake got most of the twigs and leaves out of his fur, and threw his gaze on the female teen sitting on the rock. "Uh, hi!" he said, "Sorry about dropping in so suddenly."

Solice jumped and nearly fell off her rock as the Dragon fly dropped in. she looked back down the trail and then torned to the teen. "well, it was no problem. you did not interupt much. just me...sitting here...on this rock." she took another glance down the trail, and then smiled back at the strange scaled male.

The male teen sighed. "That's good. Last time I fell out of a tree I was chased through the whole forest. My name's Utsuri, by the way, and I'm gonna be the best explorer this forest has ever seen!" Utsuri puffed out his chest proudly, then relaxed his proud pecs. "Of course, I still have a ways to go," he chuckled. "So, what's your name?"

Solice giggled as Utsuri puffed out his chest, how silly he looked. she looked down the path again. "my name is Solice, and i will one day be the toughest elder to ever live, everyone will know my name and tremble!" she grinned at the odd fish pup. somthing caught her eye about him. maybe it was the way the light reflected off his scales. such pretty light.

"Solice," Utsuri repeated the name to make sure he was saying it correctly, "So, you're gonna be an elder? That's cool! That means you'll be able to fly, right?" The young pup eagerly jumped up, flapping his small wing in a feeble imitation of flight. "If I could fly, It would make exploring a whole lot easier. That and I wouldn't fall out of trees as often."
The concept of some one as small as him becoming as big as an elder fascinated him to no end, but something else seemed to attract him to this particular dragonfly. Perhaps it was the curious spines on her forelegs that interested him so. Utsuri grinned with excitement and curiosity. Like Solice's spines, there were so many things he didn't know about!

Solice giggled. "no you silly, elders can't fly. except for like three or four. but they can do cool things, like my mom can bend the light using her scales and go invisable so no one can see her. im not sure what im able to do yet." she shrugged and giggled. "so you want to be an explorer? and thats why you are in trees? i have problems with trees, my spikes always get stuck into the branches, so i gave up climing." she smiled and took a quick glance down the trail.

"Yup!" Utsuri grinned. "I'm gonna see the world some day! That's my dream. You can see really really far from the tops of the trees!" The fish scaled pup looked over Solice's spikes as she complained about them. "Yah, I guess they would get stuck, wouldn't they?" he mused. Being the easily distractable type, though, Utsuri looked from the spines as he saw their owner move. Looking toward where Solice glanced, he asked, "Are you expecting some one?"

Solice sighed and looked down the trail. "well, not really. i guess i should have known better, she is never going to come. i ran away from home and came to this rock to see if my mother cared enough about me to come and find me. but i bet she wount even notice if im missing." her head dropped and she looked at the ground in dissapointment.

Frowning, Utsuri lowered his head. "Oh, I see. I never really knew my mom or dad, so I don't know what they're like. But," the teen looked up again, "I think that they'd be worried if I ran away. I know other pup's mothers seem to want to keep them close at all times." Utsuri smiled. "I'm sure your mom's looking for you right now. I know! How about we try and find her? We could make a game of it!" Utsuri got up and did a "play-bow" that dogs some times do, wagging his tail in a similar fashion. "Well? What do you think?"

Solice giggled. "you sure are an odd one." she jumped off the rock and bowed also. "good luck finding her, she is invisable." she turned and ran up the trail. "catch me if you can!"

Utsuri barely had time to think about what Solice said before she ran off. He leaped up and gave chase to Solice, his shiny scales catching and reflecting any light that made it through the maze of leaved above. "I'm gonna get you, just you watch!" Utsuri called out playfully.

solice squealed with childish delight. she did not know what it was like to play, but she had seen her siblings play often. this new feeling of joy spread through her body like little bubbles. she ran faster enjoying the wind in her fur, and the light as it danced across the forest floor. everything seemed to sparkle and shine. the light streams got sharper and clearer to see. she turned back and giggled at utsuri. he looked like a disco ball with his scales shining so brightly.

Utsuri leaped after Solice in almost girlish delight, which was odd, since he was male. He didn't care, though. Utsuri felt like he was flying! Never before had he played with another Dragon fly like this. The only things he chased after were rabbits, and they didn't talk back to you.
Utsuri managed to catch up with Solice as she turned around, and he batted her with a paw before shouting, "Tag! You're it, Solice! Now you have to chase me!" Utsuri could barely contain his delight as he scurried past Solice and up the path.

Solice felt his paw hit her. she play growled as Utsuri passed her. "that shoud not be too hard" she speed up and tried to stay close on his heals. she reached out one of her paws to tag him, she noticed that some leaves had gotten stuck on her spikes. she tagged him and turned in the opposite direction, sprinting down the path back towards the rock.
