What an interesting day it was yesterday. Oboé had met a male lion for the first time. He was very amusing and she enjoyed his conversation (despite how easily he was irritated). She wouldn't mind meeting him again, she told herself. She certainly wouldn't mind. But then, would he want to meet her again? That was the better thing to think about.
Well, it didn't really matter to Oboé. She didn't care if he liked her or not. What mattered is that she liked him and made up her mind to go back and have another chat with him sometime in the future. Maybe if he took a stroll with her he would be more at ease? But he didn't seem like one to travel...
So many things were popping up in Oboé's train of thought. She realized that it was unlike herself to have so much going on in her head about one SINGLE person at once. She was suddenly feeling the urge to share her plans and excitement (even though she seemed very subdued at the moment). But who to tell? She was always off on her own (save for when she was with Bevin), doing what she liked...Oboé suddenly came to the realization that she didn't know too many others.
How strange.
As she walked, her eyes wandered ahead. She examined a curved line of trees which enclosed what looked like a small watering hole. Hmm...She could use a drink. But was she thirsty? She was a little thirsty...But was a little thirsty enough thirsty to be thirsty?
As Oboé grew nearer and nearer to the watering hole, she spotted something black. Before, she had thought it was just part of the shade to some trees. But now she saw it was another leopard. It was odd seeing another leopard after not speaking to one for so long. Without thinking about that for very long, Oboé picked up her pace and walked until she was extremely close to the other leopard. It was obviously a girl; a pretty one, too.
"Good day~." Oboé drawled with a smile.

Apparently by the watering hole, the elegant ebony female leopard Sinasina watched the ripples spread from her claw whenever she allowed it to touch the water. It wasn’t particularly interesting, really, but for one so bored even the most basic of hobbies was enough to occupy her time at least for a little while. Until it became odious to her and a new task was needed to take its place. At that moment, she had been spontaneously dipping her claws into the water for about five minutes, nearer the time where something else would be needed to keep her from losing her head to her thoughts.
Why were there no males about? She needed a romp and there was no one to sustain her.
Peering half-heartedly about the area, the black creature, whose attitude at that moment matched the darkness of her pelt, spotted something heading towards he in the distance. For a moment she was hopeful that it was a male leopard come to put her out of her misery, glee transfiguring to disappointment when she came to realize it was actually a female leopard.
A shiny one at that.
It was her first choice of company, and yet, with her feelings so taxed and her mind so perplexed, she supposed she could accept it. Anything was better than nothing. The water just wasn’t cutting it for her anymore.
So she pushed herself to her feet, sleek body glimmered faintly in the sun as she turned to face the approaching lady. Never had she seen a leopard of such a bright pelt before, not one so adorned by pretty… whatever it was she happened to be wearing over that pink fur of hers.
“Hello,” responded Sinasina in a friendly tone, the female never having had any trouble masking inner turmoil when in the presence of company, “is there something I can help you with?”
Maybe this lady was looking for something. It seemed strange to have a visitor, as this spot Sinasina had always found to be quite vacant throughout most of the day. This leopard might have liked the area for the same reason.
Was she then intruding on someone else’s territory?
Eh, she wasn’t too worried about it.

Oboé walked just past the other leopardess and slapped her paws in the water. Then, she bent forward and took a drink. It wasn't clear if Oboé had heard the leopardess's question at all, or was simply taking her time in pondering it.
"Good water." Oboé said, a smile audible in her tone. She stared at her rippling reflection and an amused grin suddenly appeared on her face. She slapped at the water a bit more to make more ripples, causing her reflection to become even more distorted. Oboé swayed her tail in amusement and continued the strange game for a while.
Abruptly, Oboé stood and stepped away from the water. She lied down on the ground and snuggled into it to get more comfortable.
"Have you ever been in love?" Oboé asked the stranger, smiling lazily. After speaking, her eyes wandered away from the leopardess and she gazed up at the sky.

Sinasina, having never been one to distinguish different flavors in water, made no comment, watching the other female take her drink in silence. A notion to be irritated struck her mind, as she felt the other leopardess had just ignored her after being the one to engage her in the first place, but she kept herself calm just in case it turned out she was merely taking a moment to gather her thoughts.
Watching her engage in more or less the same game that she had been playing earlier, with admittedly a great deal more entertainment, Sinasina smiled. It seemed obvious that this female was in a good mood. That kind of smile didn’t situate itself on someone playing pretend or masking feelings.
The ebony female was curious now.
At the question, Sinasina shook her head, grunting spitefully and offering a smile. “No,” she replied, “I don’t believe I’ve ever been in love. Is that what’s got you so happy?” she asked without hesitation, “are you in love?”

There was a twinkle in Oboé's eyes now. She, too, laughed. It was strange, the feeling of talking so easily with another leopardess. She had missed it.
"I've never been in love, either." she laughed, squinting her eyes in a smile. She sighed and pawed at the ground beneath her, mulling over the girl's question. Was she in love? But with who? Certainly not that purple lion she'd met...But then...Was she? Love was a strange thing. It took strange shapes and did as it pleased. Oboé had known the love of close friends, but she'd never taken a strong affection for a male that could be called "love".
Oboé glanced at the leopardess and still, she smiled. She was normally happy. She didn't think anything in particular had caused this bubbling feeling.
"When you look at the clouds," Oboé began slowly, staring at the other leopardess. "what do you see?" she asked. Upon asking, Oboé tilted her head up and gazed at what few clouds drifted across the sky.

Sinasina, blinking, turned her eyes towards the sky, observing the clouds that were filtering slowly above them. On most days she was content to see things as animals or plants up there, but the magic had died inversely to the growth of her boredom. There was nothing left in the sky now but small puffs of white with no form or meaning. She really needed to find something more to do.
Bring on the males.
Sighing, she shook her head, eyes closing as her head drew once more towards the ground. “I don’t see anything,” she replied, “clouds are just clouds. Why? Do you see something?” Looking over at her, she couldn’t help but wonder what was making the female seem so care-free, if indeed it wasn’t just her normal personality. Where was that kind of mirth for her? More often than not, her joy was nothing more than fabricated for her audience. Envious, she smiled, climbing to her feet to head closer and investigate things a little more closer.
“Did you ever tell me your name?” she asked lightly, coming to sit a foot or so from the bright –in spirit and pelt- female, “all this talk of love and clouds has quite distracted me. I’m sorry if I’ve just forgotten it.”
She chuckled lightly, the fabrication present once more. “Alright honey,” she offered after a moment, tail swishing back and forth, “tell me who this guy is that’s got your head in the clouds. There just has to be –someone- on your mind.”

Nothing?
How could one see nothing?
Oboé frowned at the other leopardess's answer, but she still looked to the sky. A large cloud seemed to magically shift into a body with a fluffy mane and...and a tail...and...
"I see lions; no, a lion." Oboé said decidedly after a moment. Her tail gave an involuntary sway and she turned to look at her present company. She waited to reply. Then waited. Then waited. Then waited more.
"Ahhh!" she breathed, eyes widening. "I am Oboé." she stated. She stood and stretched into a bow. Then she flopped down on the ground once more, a cloud of dust rising around her. She didn't ask the other female's name. Maybe she knew she would tell Oboé without having to ask, or maybe she had just forgotten that it was normal to exchange your name for your new acquaintance's name.
"Someone on my mind?" Oboé echoed, eyes rising to the sky once more. The clouds were dissipating slowly, much to Oboé's silent dismay. "Perhaps..." Oboé murmured. "Perhaps there is someone on my mind." she said more loudly, turning her head to look at the leopardess.

Sinasina read into the answer, smiling. So it seemed this leopard, so happy and delighted, was falling for a lion. Or perhaps just wished to meet one. Either way, it seemed love was playing at least a small role in things. Something she would have found adorable had her encounter with the breed not been such a strange one.
Now she regretted having ever gotten involved with lions.
Looking up again at the clouds, she found she could not for the life of her form a lion from the white fluff. To her it looked a bit more like some kind of large fish. Not that she was going to mention it now that she had already said that there was nothing up there.
“Sinasina,” the female offered with no invitation. She hadn’t even noticed that she hadn’t been asked for her name, two-way greetings so common place in her mind she barely registered the words between them. As the other female got comfortable, Sinasina jointly felt herself start to relax a bit more. It had been a long time since she had the company of another leopard to warm to.
Chuckled, she nodded. “I guessed as much,” she said lightly, “so who is he? The way you act he’s got to be a great guy.”

Oboé stared unblinking at Sinasina for what might've seemed like an eternity to some, but was mere seconds to Oboé.
"He is..." she began, very slowly, still staring at Sinasina. Her mind was picking up the pieces of the memory of the lion she was thinking of; each detail in his pelt and each facial expression. "...A purple lion." she finished.
She pictured his violet fur and bright yet subtle markings. His shining eyes and flowing mane. Each angry, annoyed, smiling, and lonely face. Oboé lifted her head higher, suddenly surprised at how vividly she remembered him even though she only saw him once. Her claws dug into the dirt and then she pulled them out, repeating that exercise a few more times before continuing to speak.
"I called him a ratel and he was irritated with me." she said calmly, watching the water in front of her ripple and move with unseen life. Golden eyes half-lidded as if in a daze, she looked almost tired, as if remembering him was some hard task upon her mind and body. And maybe it was? Oboé was suddenly grateful to have the presence of a friendly aura beside her. She imagined that if she were alone and thinking of this lion, the end result would be a painfully lonely feeling. But why would it be lonely? Oboé narrowed an eye.
Her mind was starting to hurt from too much thinking. She was used to a more relaxed lifestyle compared to the recent past events she had been through. "Now...What shall I do?" she asked just above a murmur, more to herself than to Sinasina.

Sinasina only smiled as she listened, sensing the female was deep in her thoughts on the male. It had to be at least a crush, reckoned the girl leopard, for her to take on such a dreamy air upon reflection of him. Had their roles been reversed, and Sinasina the one to recall her recent encounter with a male lion, she would have spat out a description with absolutely no thought at all.
Probably might have added a few profanities in along with said description, too.
“What do you mean?” she asked, ears perking forward at the question, “If you really liked that boy, then you should try to find him again, I think.” Offering advice wasn’t her strong point. Considering the only thing she did with males was use them for sex, she really didn’t have a lot of input in matters of the heart.
Only matters of primal wants and how to sustain them.
“Is there a way for you to meet this purple lion again? It might help you if you see him again. Not that you look like you’re in any kind of distress. I just assume you must want to visit him. Correct me if I’m wrong. I’ve never really been interested in seeing a male a second time, so I’m not sure I can be of very much help to you, I’m afraid.”
Tail twitching, she looked back to the water. “He sounds cute,” she offered after a short pause, smiling at her reflection.

"Find him...again?" Oboé asked steadily, the words rotating in her mind slowly. "Of course," she said suddenly, raising her eyebrows as if she had the idea all along. Then, the expression changed and Oboé lowered her brows in a look of seriousness. She was silent for a moment. Then a grin appeared on her face as if she'd gone through some sort of epiphany.
"I'll go and find him again." she said, laughing. She turned her head to look and Sinasina, pleased with the idea. "Well," she began to answer her question. "I remember where he dwells." she drawled, looking down at the water. "I'll go and meet him again..." A sly smirk crept its way onto her face and she gazed at her reflection. Oboé's ears perked up at Sinasina's comment on the lion. "Cute?" she echoed. She pondered that for a moment. "Yes, I suppose he is cute." she finished decidedly, her smile broadening.
What a lovely day it was...

Sinasina sighed. It was nice to see someone in love, but she wasn’t sure she knew what next to say to the flighty creature. She seemed so captivated by her own mind that she just didn’t have time to hold casual conversation with another leopard. Or any creature, come to that. It seemed the only one she would probably be able to speak with was the one she seemed to attached to. And even then it was an iffy situation. Perhaps she would be too nervous to speak. Or too giddy.
The ebony lady hoped the best for her lighter pelted companion- everyone deserved to be happy with another.
Or many others, as was the case with her.
“That’s good,” she said, “I’m sure you’ll be able to find him again without much trouble then. And I’m glad he’s cute! No point going after an ug-o right?” She meant it, too. Ugly creatures weren’t worth the time of day. Not to someone like her.
“Be careful, though,” she added after a moment, “I met a lion once before and it didn’t turn out that well for me. I hope the same thing doesn’t happen to you with this one.”

Oboé stared at the dark leopardess with a strange, understanding smile, as if she knew exactly what the girl had been through, perhaps with or without having gone through the same situation herself.
She held the gaze for a moment, then said, "Thank you, Sinasina." She stood, shook the dust from her fur, sighed, and stared up at the last remaining wisps of a cloud. "I hope you find what you're looking for." Oboé said softly, stealing one more glance at her new friend.
Oboé flashed a quirky grin, then bolted off into the direction her cloud was flying to.
