Her eyes were drenched from crying, and her body was curled up in a tight ball. She still wasn't over the past encounter with that rude lioness cub. Still crying over the meeting, Sekuda wondered if she would ever get away from her past. A sigh escaped her maw. Her adopted mommy had risked everything for her, now she was dead, thanks to those lions. She had to blame everything on those lions thus far in her life. All they did was cause her pain, and if Chui or Daroo got hurt because of them... She would have to flee.

Bad luck followed her everywhere, she knew it. Ever since she was born there was an aura of bad luck surrounding her. It all started when her parents disappeared, then her adopted mother found them dead, shredded to pieces. She had never had time to tell Sekuda the details, and she knew that her adopted mother refused to blurt those details.

Only a few months after, she had found her adopted mother. She was half-dead. Lions had attacked her, savage for meat, food, anything to quench their hunger.

She looked down at the ground, dismissing the thoughts away with a simple, yet hard, shake of her head.

Unlike the poor leopard cub, Jumoke didn't have a care in the world. She traveled where she wanted, she ate what she wanted, and she couldn't remember any family members enough to worry about them. She was child-like, wandering threw the world with wide eyed curiosity.

She came upon Sekuda while taking one of her many afternoon strolls, carelessly poking here and there at anthills or odd looking foliage. When she saw the pink cub in the distance she stopped, her head tilting to the side. She'd never really seen children before. Well, since she herself was a cub anyway. So this new creature quickly got her attention...

"Hello little one!" She called out, her voice high but gentle. She was thin and small for a lion, with well kept golden fur. But it wasn't so well groomed to suggest she never got dirty. In fact, she enjoyed that. Anything that had to do with playing was fun to her.

It took her a moment to really examine the cub from so far away. Even from the distance she could tell that there was something... wrong. She wasn't smiling. "Why so blue?" She added.

Her ears perked up in curiosity, her gaze flickering over towards the orange colored lioness. Immediately fear twinged her expression. She froze where she sat, a lump in her throat growing. She couldn't speak, she couldn't move. This lion was getting her chance if she decided to attack her. Yet, she noticed no sign of aggression in this lioness's expression. Her voice was friendly, and she looked friendly.

How was this possible? Sekuda thought every lion meant a threat to her. But that wasn't going to change her, and she still stood frozen.

Then her vocal cords managed to work.

"Get away from me!" She screeched, her muscles finally working, the leopardess cub scrambled away in fright. The lioness wasn't going to catch her, no. No she wouldn't. That was one thing Sekuda would declare, and make sure.

She wouldn't get caught. She would live, live for another day.

Though she didn't know how fast a lion really ran, or any of that...

"Wha?" Jumoke blinked in confusion, a bit wide-eyed. This small cub was just confusing now... She'd never had anyone run away from her, other than obvious prey species. Her ears tilted back slightly as she watched the cub run away.

But what if something really was wrong... She didn't know much about children, but she knew that it generally wasn't a good thing for them to be running around alone. With new found determination, she began to move in the direction the cub had run off at. Not full out running, she instead moved at a quick trot. She didn't want to scare the cub even more... Though she had no idea what she had done in the first place!

"Hey! What's wrong? Are you injured?"

To make things worse the lioness was coming after her. Though she was trotting, Sekuda was rather slow today. Her legs were half frozen while she moved, so she was trotting swiftly rather than running. She felt her heart beat against her rib cage, her lungs burning as she seemed to hyperventilate while barely running. "Leave me alone!" She shouted back. Maybe the lioness would give up, give up and turn around and walk away. She turned her head to glance back at the lioness, tears running down her cheeks. She was going to get away. The lioness wasn't going to eat her, wasn't goi-

She let out a yelp of pain as she felt herself fall over. Face meeting the ground quite hard, she shrieked in pain this time. Dirt smeared her vision, and she was painfully aware the scent of blood in the air. Blood smudged her muzzle, her nose, even her vision was slightly smeared by blood, as well. Sekuda couldn't exactly realize what she had done, but her throat hurt extremely badly, and when she tried to talk, blood, instead, dripped from her mouth.

She gaped in a silent scream.

Jumoke stopped, eyes wide as she blinked in confusion. The cub had fallen, tripped? What was that red stuff...? Blood? The lioness gasped loudly in shock, jaw hanging a bit. She didn't come any closer, since it seemed to upset the smaller feline... But she sat and gave her a concerned expression.

"Are you okay?" She half yelled, letting her voice carry enough for the cub to hear. "Do you need help? You're bleeding!"

Her jaw shut tightly as she stared at the lioness. The coppery taste filled her mouth while the thick liquid swished around in her mouth. Sekuda was afraid to open her maw in protest, afraid the red, sticky liquid might end up pooling the ground. She didn't know where the shards of stone had hit her throat, but she knew it hit something. Only problem was, was that she couldn't speak. Her breathing was fine, but her throat was on fire, literally on fire. It was hurting ferociously. She didn't dare open her maw.

Though, as her pinkish eyes continued to stare at the lioness, tears streamed down her cheeks once again. She couldn't scream. She couldn't cry for help. Though somewhere, someone was telling her that this lioness was alright- she wasn't going to hurt her.

And she gave in, shaking her head uselessly, finding herself going into denial at the one fact that she was 'asking' for help- by a lion.

The lioness watched, her mouth hung open in shock. "Oh my!" She stood and padded closer to the cub quickly, though once she was several feet away she stopped and flopped down onto the ground, scooting herself closer on her belly. Her large brown eyes were wide and worried, ears back. "Oh, oh no. Oh, you don't look good at all little one, oh not at all..."

If she let her get close enough, she'd gently reach out to brush her the tip of her paw against her side, almost poking. "What did you fall and do that for?"

Something in the back of her gut kept reminding her that this lioness was showing no signs of hostility. She shook her head several times, letting the fear that still churned her stomach fade slowly. She'd trust her head this time, just this once. She wasn't in any condition to turn around and start off in the opposite direction.

Head cradling on her shoulders, she opened her mouth, closing it as blood rolled from her chin. Her eyes down-cast towards the ground, feeling defeat come over her. She couldn't speak.

Ju frowned deeply when the cub did not reply. She scooted a little closer, laying down beside her. Her paw poked at her side again, though this time it was more affectionately. More gentle.

"Are you okay, little thing? There's a lot of blood... Can you speak? What's your name?" She continued to ramble and pet/poke the small leopard. If she didn't speak... and well, she couldn't... She bent her head down to nuzzle her a little, licking the blood from her fur. Even though Ju was full grown, she was very child like. She didn't understand why the cub was bleeding exactly, but she knew enough to be motherly.

Speak. She couldn't. The revelation was horrible and scary, and the agony that slowly vanished was to blame for her injury. But, wouldn't she still be able to say a word? Scream was what she would have done. She couldn't.

She couldn't.

Sekuda sobbed helplessly, shaking her head in futile. In return to her worry-some affection she nuzzled her back, only wishing for comfort. Even if this comfort was redirected toward a lion, she had nobody else. She let her lick her, let her do what she wanted too. Right now, she was too weak to run- even walk.

"Heeey...." She prodded gently, frowning deeply. The adult was greatly disturbed now, unsure, and very confused. She flopped beside the cub on her stomach and drew her closer with her front paws. Ju continued to lick and nuzzle her, her large paws now engulfing her securely.

Ju might be a bit... slow, but now her instincts were taking hold. She made soft nurturing sounds, attempting to calm the leopard. Finally she licked at her wound again, ears flattened back.

"You... can't speak? Because your cut? Oh... well maybe you'll feel better after it hells a little! Where's your parents?" She glanced around, as if they'd pop out from a bush to relieve her.

Sekuda shook her head. Her shaking had started to subside as she stared at the lioness, confused, scared, and also unsure. The bleeding from her neck had stopped but she still couldn't speak. This should have worried her, but with the lioness comforting her, she was sure she felt safe and protected. She liked that.

Slowly she curled up on the ground and scooted herself closer to the lioness, finding the only source of comfort in her as she really did need this. The cut scared her more now, wondering what would happen if it started to bleed again and what it would do to her.

She was relieved of these worries as the lioness spoke. She shook her head, head cradled on shoulders as she looked at the lioness. Her parents were dead.

Jumoke was very much a child herself, mentally... She didn't quite understand, and just frowned at Sekuda deeper. She let a paw gently drape over the cub, holding her gently but securely against her chest. "It's okay! Don't be sad!"

The lioness forced a smile, which spread wide across her face. "Your wound will heal and stuff! And..." She blinked at her for a moment, thinking about what the last head-shake meant. No parents?

"It's okay. I don't have any either! But we can have fun together, right? Maybe I can think up a game that doesn't require talking?" After all, games made everything better in Jumoke's mind!
