World of Warcraft (WoW)

There's something fascinating about pretending to be something you're not. Just look at all of us here. But the part about the video game world is that it's more of a real time interface, and to me WofW brings is all together brilliantly.

Even with my aging computer WoW looks as realistic as a medieval fantasy theme can get. If there was truly a half man - half cow species on the planet, the way they look in WoW is convincing enough for me to believe that they could look like that. Coupled with a soundtrack that I believe rivals anything by Hans Zimmer and we have a winning combination.

And then there's the gameplay itself. It's so simple in the beginning that even my kids have fun running around creating low level character and killing the monsters in the starting area, and yet leaves the most difficult of challenges to the experienced players all in the same game. I absolutely love that the most rewarding areas of the game require several players (upwards of 10 to 25, even 40 in some areas) to band together and work as one or fail miserably in the process.

So after over 3 years of playing, I am still going strong. Hi, my name is irrelavant, and I am addicted to World of Warcraft.

You'll find me on the server named Steamwheedle Cartel, Horde faction:
Mukter - L70 Feral Druid
Arcisa - L70 Beastmastery Hunter
Muktergoat - L70 Shadowpriest
Muktar - L69 Beastmastery Hunter (yes I have 2)
Various lower levels...

Ooooo... I am totally in heart with WoW! Fortunately I heard quite enough scarey stories about WoW addiction before I started that I have been careful to regulate my time there at least somewhat. LOL, more than my friends- who are zooming ahead in levels and leaving me behind, but the game is still a lot of fun! I've also found that I enjoy turning off the sound effects and music of the game and listening to BBC World News or other online streaming radio station, or listening to an audio book on CD. I'm working through an Egyptology text right now (I'm also a total Egyptophile^_^), and looking forward to plunging into some of the Great Courses audio series my library has in their AV room. xd

I mostly play on the Whisperwind server, Alliance.
Ailura- lvl 70 Draenei Holy Paladin, JC/mining. Currently grinding rep for Aldor, collecting JC designs, and leveling my cooking skills

Ainbthen- currently 20ish Night Elf Survivalist Hunter, Alchemy/herbalist.

Lyraemitia- About 20ish Draenei Holy Priest, Enchanter and atm herbalist until she figures out what she really wants to be when she grows up.

I love the draenei and I love playing the healing classes. I want to roll up a shaman and maybe a few more paladins, but I'm awaiting inspiration for names, personalities, and accompanying professions. I'm not a strict role-player (in fact, I'm a little too shy to really get into it), but I like to have an idea of who my character is before I create and start playing him or her.

I have a few other Whisperwind characters, but I rarely play them and have considered deleting most of them at some time or another. *shrugs*

I keep my Horde characters on Terokkar. Granted I don't have very many atm, and I rarely play them, but they are:

Lykeios- Below 20, and that's all I can remember for level, lol. Blood Elf warlock, Enchanter/I don't remember. redface

Halfa- Likewise low level, Tauren Druid. Leatherworker/Skinner. I love the Egyptianesque sarcophagi that the tauren have in their graveyards!

My latest forays have been into the BGs and Arena to win better armour for Ailura- up until a couple of weeks ago I'd never done PvP (yes, I got all the way up to lvl 70 and never paid it any attention wink ), and I am finding out that it is a completely different style than the usually PvE I've been doing. I'm dragging out spells I never knew I had, and trying to work up strategies that work against Real Human Players, lol. Any strategies or helpful hints which y'all have found to work would be greatly appreciated! Particularly in reference to playing a Holy Paladin or generic healer-type.

hi...i am kerryness, and i am a recovering addict of...EVERQUEST 2! AHH ARCH NEMESIS!

no seriously though, i was hardcore in to eq2 for a long time. so much in fact that it almost ruined my real life...proooobably shouldn't admit that.
anyways, the guild eventually disbanded and it's not the same to me to play anymore. i tried to move to vanguard with a few others and...still not the same...

i haven't played vanguard in over 6 months probably, but i still pay for it. i can't bear to cancel my subscription after all i lost when i cancelled my eq2 subscription.

i still miss eq2. :[

I've heard of Ever Quest- fondly referred to as Ever Crack by some of my old friends... I'm curious about it, and would kind of like to try it out, but frankly I don't think I'd be able to do either game justice if I had to divide out my free time more than I already do for WoW and my other interests. Ah well, WoW is more than enough to keep me entertained. And for now, my most difficult decision as far as that is concerned is figuring out which character to play!

i personally never played EQ but i dated a guy that did, and he was TOTALLY addicted to it and kind of lost the mother of his child over it (played the game more than he would do anything else) and from what i can tell.... its not worth paying ANY money for...

the graphics are like... (no offense to this place) but worse than gaia but like from what i know, the world itself is very much like WoW and what not but like everyone hacks so much that if ur just starting out, ur not going to get far cause ull get killed constantly, never level and always be like 100000000 times more behind everyone else... oh and to get the hacks u have to pay money on sites for (my ex he was paying like almost 200 dollars a year, over all for the game, chars, expansions, and the forum hacks). but by using the hacks u risk the chance of never being able to play the game again, so even if u payed for the year worth, and u get banned in the first month, u still have to pay for the full year.. not worth it.... and u spend all ur time messing with ur hacks...

and yes WoW does have hacks that arent really hacks, they are more like friendly helpful bots... not ultimate levelers to where u dont even have to be in game to lvl... or can go into a dungeon and be at the entrance and kill everything from just pointing and clicking on a map (yea i saw that one in action)... kinda takes the fun outta the game....

so in my opinion, dont even bother with EQ...

I highly recommend staying away from any Sony Online Entertainment game (this includes EQ, EQ2, and SWG). They suck the fun out of their games constantly and I refuse to touch them with a 10 foot pole. stare Mind you, this is after I played about 5 years on the original EverQuest. xp

I am an on-again off-again WoW addict. Currently sorta-on (as in, my subscription is paid for a couple more weeks again).

I play Alliance on Blade's Edge which is my home server (I actually prefer Horde except for druid kitty form, night elf version FTW!). 70 priest, freakin' job I tell ya... I told the endgame to go smack itself and am just having fun helping guildmates in my original family-style guild now.

All my chars are listed over here: http://tirsden.livejournal.com/156593.html

I've just gotten into S4 League, an import from Korea that is fantastically (disturbingly) addictive... though the server was down today. sweatdrop

widow, you just made that game way worse than it is.

people hack everywhere, and yes there are botters. but it's not nearly impossible to get ahead, not by a long shot. it's easy if you have a good group of friends or guild to play with. it's a little harder solo but still doable as long as you know your character really well.

i never had to hack anything, and i was the most sought after coercer on the server in the #1 raiding guild. but that was only through good guilds, groups, and dedicated playing.

eq2 is worth playing, and the only reason i stopped is because our guild ended up disbanding, basically because we raided the crap out of every instance and got bored with it. vanguard wasn't bad, either, and that is a SOE game. i didn't like it as much as eq2, the graphics weren't as good...and the graphics are WAY better on eq2 than on wow, imo. eq2 is more realistic, and wow looks more cartooney. i also liked the gameplay of eq2 better than wow.

but as far as fixing bugs and patches, soe sucks. not sure how blizzard handles those things.

it is just my personal opinion and i did say i never played it but i watched my ex on many occassions... i think i personally made a clear idea of what it is, based on my own personal experiance in watching it for hour after boring hour. in fact my ex is the one that told me all that information.. that it was almost pointless to play unless u hack cause u will never get anywhere.

and good for u...
