You have all been friends for years, seemingly forever. Early in your young life, you met five people that changed your life. No matter what was happening in your home life, these people were there for you and always seemed to make your struggles disappear when you spent time with them. You go throughout your tough grade school years with friends at your side, and then senior year of high school comes around. You and your companions converse and discover you each have a plan to go to different colleges around the country, or even world. You are saddened, but to pursue your career goals, it is necessary.
~
Our story begins four years after graduation day of high school. College is completed, and you are jobless. You decided that to best pursue your future, home would be the place to start, so you return to your hometown of Los Angeles, only to find your friends moving into the same apartment building as you are. You take notice to changes in them. After all, you haven’t talked to them in four long years. One person in particular stands out at you, and strange feelings arise. And so it begins!
~

((Okay, so, in simple terms, there are six of us all together, three girls and three guys that have known each other since elementary school. They get to high school and when they graduate they all move away from L.A. to college, then they all move back. They changed a bit since high school, and everyone begins to fall in love with each other. Got it? Yay!))

~You Have Been Accepted!~

Quote:
Hi, my name is: [Tiffany May Kern]
Sometimes I prefer to be called: [Tif]
My puppeteer is: [SarahlovesDavidH]
My last birthday was my: [22nd]

I am pursuing a career as: [a musician; R&B singer and hip-hop dancer]

Some things I like are: [Friends
David [brother]
R&B and Pop music
Cold weather and snow
Scarves
Free time
Clothes and Shopping
Cuddling
Singing
Dancing]

Some of my dislikes are: [Bugs
People looking down on her
Rejection
Hot weather
She resents her parents for abandoning David]

I look something like this: [Tif has thick long light blonde hair that drapes around her shoulders or is up in a bun. Her eyes are deep blue and her skin is pale peach and smooth. She is of average weight, though she has muscle built up from dancing. She is about 5’7”.]

This is how I act: [Sensitive
Friendly
Affectionate
Upbeat
Playful
Sweet
Emotionally Strong
Motherly [to her brother all times, and to others sometimes]

This is what my life has been like: [Tif has always accelled in school, but she never took a true liking to academics. Music is where her heart lies. Her parents weren’t home a lot, so she spent a lot of time at home singing and playing around like she was performing, and it stuck. That is what she wanted to do with the rest of her life.
She grew up as an only child, but her parents adopted a Chinese baby boy named David in the middle of Tif’s senior year, and he is now four years old. Her parents have been having marriage difficulties ever since Tif could remember, and finally legally separated a bit after David arrived. Her dad ended up gaining custody of David, but he claimed that he needed time to himself, and asked if Tif could take care of him for awhile. This “temporary arrangement” ended up being that her father got arrested on numerous DUI charges, and David has been with Tif ever since.
She certainly doesn’t mind taking care of him though. She loves him so much, and her various part time jobs in New York during school make it easy for her to afford taking the best care of him. Her roommates and other college friends gladly babysat during her classes, so that wasn’t a big deal either. Her employers rather liked it when David trailed along with her to work, helping in any way a young child could.]

Here is a bit of extra information about me: [Her brother is first priority at the moment. She always has to make sure that he is well taken care of before taking care of herself.]

Quote:
Hi, my name is: [Lysander Randall Valentine]
Sometimes I prefer to be called: [Lye, Randy, Cupid]
My puppeteer is: [Lucifer Moloch]
My last birthday was my: [23]

I am pursuing a career as: [Author]

Some things I like are: [Books
Music
Small Parties
The stars
Women]

Some of my dislikes are: [The nickname 'Cupid'
Drama
Large groups of people
Depression]

I look something like this: [Staggering at a height of 6'4", Lysander has a good build, but it's hard to tell since he hunches over. His shaggy nigh-black hair covers his amber eyes, and has a scar above his left eyebrow. He regularly wears a dangling earing of a wolf fang on his left ear. He tends to wear baggy clothing, and regularly wears a heavy military coat in colder weather.]

This is how I act: [Around people he doesn't know or trust or just in a large group of people, Lysander's moody, quite, abrasive, and sometimes mysterious. He'll refuse to talk and resort to grunts, head motions, and hand gestures. This obviously tends to him getting little friends, which that in turn makes him more upset.
Around people he does know or with smaller groups of people, however, he's much more open, and is much more agreeable. All in all, though, he hates body contact unless he's acknowledged to it or he's the one touching someone else. He also has several odd quirks and habits, which include stealing spoons and refusing to go to bed without at least one other human or pet in a building.]

This is what my life was like: [Born to a single mother in Seattle, Lysander moved to LA before he could remember. While his mother had frequent on-off relationships with various guys, Lysander became quick friends with Tiffany and through her with everyone else. Lysander never did that well in class, even in English, his strong point, which infuriated his teachers to no end.
High school was a great period of change for Lysander, where before he had been simply the quiet moody guy in the background, he began doing more illegal things, and began having more fun. He would sneak out of his house and begin having fun, i.e. doing graffiti, making poor excuses of bombs and setting them off, getting into fights, etc. Lysander still fondly remembers his first arrest, it had been made in the middle of the one class Lysander had with all his friends and it shocked everyone. When he graduated, Lysander went to the University of Washington and got a degree in English.]

Here is a bit of extra information about me: [Lysander would perform in underground fighting rings to pay for his college tuition.]

Quote:
Hi, my name is: [Emma Raine Watson]
Sometimes I prefer to be called: [Emmy]
My puppeteer is: [0oaphroditeo0]
My last birthday was my: [22nd]

I am pursuing a career as: [Marine Biologist]

Some things I like are: [Techno;;Wakeboarding;;The Mediterranean Sea;;Batman;;Sugar;;Motorcycles;;Traveling;;Rockstar Energy Drinks]

Some of my dislikes are: [People who chew with their mouth open;;Country;;Surfing;;Stuck Ups;;Monster Energy Drinks;;Math]

I look something like this:[Emma Raine Watson]

This is how I act: [Curious;;Kind;;Responsible;;OCD about cleanliness;;Quiet;;Adventurous;;Intimidating;;Respectful]

This is what my life was like: [Emma grew up a normal life with her family of her two parents and twin brothers. Ever since she was able to drive though, she only drove a Ducati motorcycle (her uncle got her hooked on those)).
After her family had come back from Europe, Emma was inspired to become a Marine Biologist later in life. That is why when she moved out, she moved to Miami, where they had a college for specifically Marine Biology. Finally, back in L.A., she strives to become an employee at the Long Beach Aquarium.]

Here is a bit of extra information about me: [Emma usually doesn't talk and prefers to think about things insider her head than do that. Mostly, when Emma talks, it will be about something smart or important.]

Quote:

Hi, my name is: Melissa Cyrea Shiyan
Sometimes I prefer to be called: Mel, Cy.
My puppeteer is: Clara33
My last birthday was my: 23d.

I am pursuing a career as: Voice actor/artist

Some things I like are: Singing, acting, reading, drawing, dancing, and sleeping.

Some of my dislikes are: Bugs, flying, blood, and zucchini.

I look something like this: Red orange hair with purple highlights. Brown eyes, tall, thin. Freckles over the bridge of the nose.

This is how I act: Shy, except when I'm with my friends. Then I'm random and crazy. I have a strange obsession with purple wombats and invisible Belgian waffles. And the color purple. That's why I have purple highlights.

This is what my life was like: Most of my life was spent staring out a tiny window in a dark room. My father died when I was little, and my mother spend most of her time at work earning enough money to get by. Eventually we were separated because she couldn't 'take care of a little girl', even though I was 13 when I was handed over to my aunts.

I used to spend a lot of time with my older sister, and when she had to go to collage I was heart broken. That was when I met the 5 others. So, high school wasn't that bad. Then I went to Brown university in Providence, Rode Island. I came back home 4 years later with a degree in acting.

Here is a bit of extra information about me: I have a black and tan dog, and a white cat. I named them after characters in my favorite book. Also, I dance in my free time. I could probably dance professionally if I hadn't quit dancing for voice acting in collage.

Quote:
Hi, my name is: [Ryan Jordan Gillespie]
Sometimes I prefer to be called: [R.J.]
My puppeteer is: [Smorgasmorgan]
My last birthday was my: [23rd]

I am pursuing a career as: [Architect]

Some things I like are: [Girls, books, music, girls, my motorcycle and girls]

Some of my dislikes are: [marshmallows, CNN, large dogs, messes]

I look something like this:[Red curly hair, green eyes. R.J. ]

This is how I act: [A total neatfreak. I color-code my socks even. And alphabetize my cds/dvds/books. And sanitize my kitchen counters like twice daily. I know it may seem like a lot, but I like having a place for everything. I've been organized since I was a kid, but college just added a whole new level of crazy to it. I'm a little germaphobic, but it's not like I won't shake your hand. I'll just have to wash mine afterwards.

This is not to say that I'm unkind, I'm not. I have a real love for people, but not for their messes. I can be something of a wet blanket if I don't get my way, but I'm not boring. I try to allways look on the bright side of things, and I'm hopelessly romantic. I'm also pigheadedly chivalrous.]

This is what my life was like: [I was raised by my dad, an honest to god record producer. Of course, the albums he produces are largely independent artists and children's records. You know, the Wiggles, Sesame Street, Veggietales, that sort of thing. My mom left when I was about five, and I don't remember all that much about her. I have and older brother, Mark, and a younger half-sister, Clara. My dad got remarried about three years ago. My step-mom, Kim, is okay, but I adore little Clara. I feel more like her dad or uncle than like her brother. I make a point of spoiling her.

I haven't seen much of Mark lately. He's about two years older than me, and Mom's departure hit him harder. He's been looking for her for a long time, and I can't understand why. I got good grades at school, but what I loved to do most was to draw. This led me to my love of architecture. The Area around LA has a lot of interesting architechture from the Capitol Records building to old Spanish missions, and I drew everything. I attended Rice University in Houston, and though at first I missed everyone, I made plenty of new friends, and got to know myself really well. I'm glad to be back in Cali, though. Hopefully an internship or job as a draftsman isn't long in coming. Someday I hope to have my own firm.]

Here is a bit of extra information about me: [R.J. is mildly allergic to cats.]

Quote:
Hi, my name is: [Krisys Mathews]
Sometimes I prefer to be called: [Kri]
My puppeteer is: [Bloodlust-Night]
My last birthday was my: [23rd]

I am pursuing a career as: [[Painter]]

Some things I like are: [Painting, poetry, his dog Mahita, black hair dye, and a smiley face mask made out of a walmart kickball and a length of string.]

Some of my dislikes are: [People who try to say too much, country music, clutter, sleepyness, the color pink]

I look something like this:[Blond neck length hair with black streaks in random places, especially around the tips of the hair. He has green eyes, pale skin, and sits at about 5' 6"/5' 7". He has a pouty kind of lip set, and as the description of a starving artist goes, he's skinny and has dark circles under his eyes from working late into the night. His fingernails are almost always a little long - he works so much that he hardly notices the length - and his hair is usually messy. Generally he wears a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of Chucks. He still looks a lot like he did in High school, but he seems a lot more mature now.]

This is how I act: [Quiet, contemplative, creative, spontaneous, goof ball but at the same time a very sad person, caring, but only to a point.]

This is what my life was like: [Krisys started out life in a small town quite a ways from L.A. It was only when his parents could no longer afford to live in the house there that they had moved to L.A. and found a small apartment. He's never really cared for L.A. since moving into that small apartment as a kid, but he's never really been able to stay away.

When he was seven he got his first dog for Christmas. It was his best friend. He named it Ginger. Unfortunately Ginger was a very hyper dog and didn't like being kept inside the apartment, and eventually she escaped and ran away. Krisys and his parents searched and searched for her and when they found her, the worst had happened. Even though he was only seven when it happened the death of that dog changed Krisys a lot.

Krisys' parents died in a car crash a few weeks before graduation. He hardly seemed to notice. As a present, one of his friends that he'd been with all his life, got him another puppy. He was black, with big blue eyes, and friendly as anyone could've hoped. After he left to go to Oregon University, Mahita was practically Krisys' life. That doesn't mean the dog's spoiled though.]

Here is a bit of extra information about me: [Mahita is almost never at Krisys' side, and when he's not you can almost tell how uncomfortable it is for Kri to deal with. Kri is also an insomniac and a workaholic.]

~Role Play Status and Announcements~

Accepting and Almost Open!!

Needed characters - 1 Male

[8/29/08] ~*~ I fixed one of the rules so now it says something about choosing a career AND a college location that is different from everyone else, though it should be pretty obvious since no one kept really in touch over their college years. ~*~

[8/30/08] ~*~ I allowed everyone to post their introductory post, telling how their charii got to the apartment, and four people have so far. Still waiting on the last two people to join!

[8/31/08] ~*~ I added a list of choice place suggestions of where your charii went to college. ~*~

[9/01/08] ~*~ Only one more male is needed! Exciting! We will be starting soon! Remember, try to refrain frmo posting until we officially start, though an intro is perfectly acceptable. ~*~

[9/05/08] ~*~ We are full! We officially opened a day or two ago, but now we have all the characters! OMG! lol, exciting. Now stay active everyone! ~*~

Tif climbed down from the high driver seat of her bright purple pick-up truck, then trotted around to let a young boy of four years out, taking him under the arms and setting him down gently beside her. She shut the door and went around to the back of the truck with David’s tiny hand clutched within her own.

“What do you want to carry, Dave?” She said as she giggled. She lifted him up and set him on her hip so he could get a better view of the contents of the truck bed, and she gently pecked him on the nose. “That.” He said simply, pointing his small finger in the direction of a bookcase that could easily topple over him if standing. “You are silly, young man,” she shook her head jokingly and set him down, handing him a small box containing a bit of David’s clothing, and grabbed his hand once again. She turned them both in the direction of an eight-floor building, which was to become their abode. “David, welcome home!” She looked down at him and began walking toward the door after locking the truck up, as it was sitting right in front of a busy L.A. apartment building.

Once inside, Tif approached the front desk of the lobby.
“My name is Tiffany Kern, and I called about a week ago about a place here,” she said with a friendly smile to the elderly man sitting behind the desk, figuring a happy greeting would give a first impression that would last as a positive one. The man seemed to half ignore her as he scribbled down on a clipboard and tossed Tif a set of keys, grunting. “There’s your roof key, your door key, and your elevator key. Have a nice day.” His low, growly voice ceased and Tif cocked her head a little, still with a smile plastered across her face. “Thank you, sir! Say ‘thank you,’ Dave!” David jumped up and down and managed to get out his little gratitude statement. “Tankee!” His attempt was answered by another grunt from the manager, and Tif led David to the elevator, stuck the key in the slot and rode up to the eighth floor, and then walked into their new home.

Lye was pissed. He was angry at everything. The drivers, the weather, the fact that he only had one cigarette left... nothing today was going good. Lye jerked to a stop in the rental truck and climbed out with a briefcase, slamming the door. Lye looked up at the clear blue sky and the bright shining sun, and grimaced. He was a Seattleite to heart, and he hated the sun. Lye's second to last cigarette was hanging loosely from his lips as he went into the back and grabbed a few stuffed duffel bags and a few stuffed backpacks and loaded them all onto his shoulders without even grunting. He ignored the few stares he got from people staring at this bizarre-looking person, hulking over people even when hunched over, wearing a military coat in this weather, wearing a light layer of hand wraps, scowling while everyone else smiled, and generally seeming like a serial killer. In fact, what made things worse was the pair of teashades that clashed with the rest of his generally angry appearance. Lye finished his cigarette and flicked it away. Carrying all his bags and his briefcase, Lye walked inside just as someone got into the elevator. Lye payed no notice and walked to the front desk. A grumpy old man was sitting behind the desk, reading a magazine.
"I'm moving in. 802."
The old man groaned as he grabbed the clipboard, scribbled on it, then threw a set of keys to him.
"Roof key, door key, elevator key. Have a nice day."
"You too."
Lye started towards the elevator, but then went up the stairs instead. Better to get some exercise. Lye was growling by the time he got to the eighth floor. He walked straight to his door, and unlocked it, slammed it, then dropped everything but his briefcase. Lye sat in the center of the room, lit his last cigarette, opened his briefcase, pulled out his laptop, and opened it. He went through his files, and opened one of them. A lengthy word document came up, and Lye began typing, the light taps on his keyboard his only music.

(editt!)

Emma stood and threw away her trash in the trash bin. "That was one of the best hot dogs I've ever had," she commented as she patted her stomach and closed her eyes, trying to remember the taste. She spent a few more moments in hot-dog-heaven before she opened her eyes and looked up at her two best friends. "Well, you guys ready to go?" she questioned while she put her hands on their shoulders.
"As ready as we'll ever be baby!" Ronny stated as he turned and left towards the truck. Emma looked at her other friend, Dave, and shrugged her shoulders as she left towards her black Ducati.

Emma was soon weaving in between the crowded streets of L.A., leaving her two friends behind in the traffic. They know how to get there, she assured in her head while she zoomed by past memories. First there was her high school, and then the Pantages theater where she saw The Phantom of the Opera for the first time. Would you look at that, she thought as she remembered the small park she drove by. That was where she had her first crush, and her first heart break.

The memories faded and were replaced by real life happenings when she pulled up to an apartment building. "Well, here it is!" she exclaimed after she had pulled off her helmet and shook her hair out.

"Dude! Did you think of waiting up for us?!" Dave shouted from the car as they pulled up to the curb. Emma chuckled and shrugged her shoulders.

"You guys found the place didn't you?" she stated with a giggle as she walked up to the car. "Well anyways, I'm going to go get my room keys so start bringing in my crap when I give you the signal!" Emma exclaimed as she ran into the building. "Hi! My name is Emma Watson and I'm supposed to be taking up residence in room 803," she explained to the doorman, who didn't look like the happiest person at the moment.

"Here's your room key, elevator key, and roof key," the grumpy old man stated as he handed her the keys and returned to whatever he was doing in the first place. She shrugged off his bad mood and looked through the window to her friends, giving them a thumbs up. They smiled and laughed at her before taking her bags out of the truck and hauling them into the building. It had been a long journey from her dorm in Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, but finally, she was home.

It's crowded in traffic today
As she slips in
Trying to fade into the faces

After spending several hours on an airplane and feeling like she was going to faint, and several hours on the bus to L.A., instead of being in Sacramento, Melissa now knew that she was going to be walking for several hours over again. She had asked the movers to send her stuff into her new room, but that didn't mean they would unpack it. She had a long day ahead of her.

Mel stared around at the familiar sights of her hometown. Pink's Hot dogs, Paramount studios, Pantages Theater.... Then she bit her lip and chewed on it, a habit she felt the need to abandon that meant she was thinking. Wait...purple...Providence is where Brown University is...WHAT IS IT WITH THINGS IN MY LIFE AND STARTING WITH P'S?!!

But, once she had gone through with her long walk, Mel was glad to find her building. Stepping through the revolving doors, she walked nervously to the front desk.
"Melissa Shiyan. I'm here for room 804..."

The man grunted and reached into who knew where, withdrawing the keys. "Your room key, the roof key, and the elevator key." Melissa took the keys. "Have a nice day." Then she turned and started up the stairs. She hated elevators. They gave her the feeling of flying and, while she was not afraid of heights, she was afraid of flying. Don't ask, Mel didn't know what that really meant herself.

Staring at the field of boxes, Melissa realized: I'm going to have to sell most of this stuff.

After standing and twitching like a rodent for a bit, she dropped the pack off of her back and slid her notebook out of it. She pulled a chair out of one of the furniture boxes, a folding chair, and took it outside.

The day was clear, and reminded Mel of the beach in Rhode Island. She smiled, then opened the notebook and paged past her previous drawings. Holding a pen aloft, she smiled, then began to ink the drawing of the monster being torn away from the world of the living by shadows.

R.J. pulled his U-Haul up to the curb of the new place. He'd spent last night at his dad's, spoiling Clara as usual. The little girl had been thrilled to find that he was moving closer. "And you have a permanent invite to my new place," he'd told her. So, the little girl was sitting beside him in the cab of the truck. His motor cycle, like the rest of his possesions was in the back, and Mark and Dad were trailing behind him in Dad's old sedan.

"Alright, kiddo, we're here. Wanna help me move?"

"Yeah!" Clara's blonde head snapped up. She'd been two when her mom and dad had gotten married, and she was so proud of being five. She could count, and say her alphabet and everything. She pushed aside the backpack of picture books and coloring materials, after stuffing her DS inside it. "C'mon, R.J., I wanna see your new place!"

"Okay, okay," R.J. threw his hands up in a mock gesture of defeat. "Whatever you say, baby girl." He got out of the truck, and helped Clara down, remebering to grab her bag. Only a real man would carry a bag decorated with Dora the Explorer. "Just remember: don't talk to strangers, and stay out of the street. Oh, and make sure you're with me, Dad, or Mark at all times."

"I know, R.J. Mommy said the same thing this morning." R.J. mussed her hair, took her hand and walked over to his dad's car.

"Hey Dad. You and Mark can start unloading. I'm going to get the keys, and drop shortstuff here at the apartment." R.J.'s father grunted his approval of the plan. "Oh, and thanks so much for the help, you two. And Clara." he swiftly ammended as his baby sister gave him a reproachful look. He took Clara into the lobby. "Hey. Ryan Gillespie, 805." He was handed some keys.

"Apartment key, elevator key, roof key." R.J. nodded his thanks.

"C'mon Munchkin. Let's go see." They got in the elevator, and unlocked number 805. It immediately opened up into the living/dining area. It would be big enough for his futon, entertainment center, two-person table, and the bookshelves. The kitchen was a good size, big enough so that it didn't feel like an afterthought. R.J. hated those kitchens that were basically slots in the wall, wide enough for only one person. The bedroom was actually pretty big, and while the second one was kind of shrimpy, he didn't need to worry about it. He didn't live with anyone, and it would be big enough to use as a home office. He sat Clara on a kitchen counter. "Stay here." he gave her the bag. "I have to let Mark and Dad up. Don't answer the door unless it's one of us, kay?" Clara nodded. R.J. began to move in.

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat
And slips into the black row

Staring out onto the horizon with her pencil in her hand, Mel decided to draw the buildings and landscaping. It would be better if there was rain to draw, or a real character and idea to describe off of.

Wait. Lysander, from high school, wrote and such, right? Maybe she should e-mail him asking him for an idea. With this in mind, she walked into her apartment, and started setting up a desk and chair. When that was done, she picked up the laptop bag she carried on her back often. Flipping it open, she plugged in the web, and sent an e-mail to her friend.

Hello, Lye.

It's Melissa, from high school. Remember me? I sat next to you in Mrs. Power's English class in Sophomore year. Anyway, you still write, true? Can you give me a passage? I've nothing to do, and I'd like to draw something. I can send it back when it's done.

Anyway, you don't really have to listen to me. I'm pretty much psyched that I moved back to L.A., so I feel the strange need to ramble.

Mel leaned back in her chair after sending it, and waited for a reply. Sure, it wasn't likely that he'd remember her at all, and would just ignore her, but if he did remember her, then she'd have something to do. She gnawed on her pencil eraser and stared at her watch. 4:32 PM. She could set up her room, possibly, but she didn't feel like it right then. So she just stared at the computer, refreshing her inbox every few minutes.
