Addy tapped her foot underneath the desk she shared with her sister. The room they were in was completely sterile, as science-type classes were. But this wasn't really a science class, at least not in her opinion. They weren't planning on mixing any chemicals, dissecting any frogs, or any fun stuff like that. And they were fully equipped for that kind of thing too. When she had asked, the teacher had said it was because they were too young, but what she was really thinking was they weren't smart enough for that kind of thing yet.
Lilly hummed happily in her seat as she waited patiently for their activity to be revealed for that day. She tried hard not to let her sister's gloomy mood affect her. Instead she thought about all the things they might do that day. Maybe they would color another diagram like the one they'd done of the digestive system, or maybe make a little booklet like the one they'd made of the planets. She was thrilled when the teacher brought out a large bag of soil and a smaller bag of fertilizer.
"Today, we'll be planting a bean sprout," the teacher, Ms. Morasec announced to the class.
Even as she could feel her sister's heart leap, Addy rolled her eyes. Boring.
((Note to other possible participants: Addy doesn't have to be the prankster. ninja ))

Lazy strokes steadily filled the page as he put his latest thoughts to paper. It needed to be taller, stronger to withstand a barrage of anything, and it had to have all sorts of awesome weapons attached. Battleships were like that. Sketching in all sorts of enormous guns, he glanced up at his pretty teacher and tilted his head. She was saying something but he wasn't too sure what it was. Nobody had moved yet so he assumed he was safe. Raising his hand, he waited to be called on. "Do we get to help?" Maybe if he helped her plant it, his hand might brush against hers. He liked it when she came by and rested a hand on his shoulder sometimes, especially when she told him he was doing a good job.

"You're all going to be helping plant one," the teacher replied matter of factly. Addy rolled her eyes. It was obvious Toby hadn't been paying attention. She envied him, in a way. There was no way she could let her mind wander, when so many voices filled her head, but she'd been working on it.
The teacher continued: "You'll be working in teams of four, but you'll each get to plant one." That's a little unusual, Lilly thought to herself. Usually, we work in teams of two. She looked over to her sister questioningly, asking in her mind, since she knew her psychic sibling could hear it, Who do you think we'll be paired with, or will we get to choose?
Ms. Morasec continued to get the supplies out and then distribute them to the class. "Tobias," she called. "If you'd like to help, you could pass out the supplies." She held out little Styrofoam cups.

Hey, that worked for him. He got up out of his seat, hiding his drawing just in case she thought he wasn't paying a bit of attention and walked over to her taking the cups. Untying the bag, he began laying one on each person's desk, covertly kicking one of the other boys who teased him about being teacher's pet. He wasn't that and he knew he wasn't the only one in the class with a crush on Ms. Morasec either. They were all just jealous because he got the most stickers out of all of them. Taking the unused cups back up to her, he handed them over and then retook his seat, waiting for further instructions. Working in groups was a toss-up between a pleasant experience and a really really bad one.

She wasn't sure about this planting thing...it sounded like she was going to have to be in dirt. And while dirt was fun and all most times, she couldn't just go ask mommy for a new pair of clothes since they were at school. The little vampire gave a yawn, the sun still taking it's toll on them despite the pills they were taking that helped them cope better. She didn't think she wanted to work in groups either....meant things may take longer. But mommy said they needed more friends and the like...she'd try to have fun. A look at her cup, poking at it some.

"Okay," Ms. Morasec always dreaded this part, but as the supplies had already been passed out, there was no more putting it off. "Choose your groups."
Kids proceeded to shuffle around the room, some more quickly than others.
Lilly looked back and saw a familiar face, though she just couldn't place where she'd seen her before. She knew her from class, of course, but she thought they'd met before, other than that. It had probably been too long. Her name was Felicity, she knew at least that much. "You wanna be in a group with me and my sister?" she asked, pulling Addy along. "I'm Lilly, and she's Addy."
Addy made it as obvious as possible that she wasn't interested in the activity at all and shrugged her shoulders at the introduction. "Who's your usual partner?" she asked. She knew the answer moments after she asked it, because it came to the foreground of the girl's mind.
She set their supplies down on the table, she had been suckered into carrying Lilly's for some reason.

This was one of those times he hated the most. Sometimes he really wished he could work with one of the other boys on things like this but he knew his sister would feel hurt if he wasn't in a group with her. A glance over at Gideon who was already partnered up with Zavier and some other boy Thobias didn't know too well and he shifted over to the desk recently vacated near his sister. "So...do either of you like plants?"

A nod of her head to the more forward girl, "Yeah." Since she was so nice to ask and all. On the question of partners though...She wanted to say her brother but wasn't sure, seeing as there was a whole boy girl thing seeming to be happening...but he seemed to save her the trouble of decision making as he resigned himself to sit with them and she couldn't help but reach over and hug him. "My brother is really smart. He's good at this kind of thing." And maybe he could alleviate the mess this could all be.

Lilly perked up at Tobias's question. "I love plants," she said with a little giggle. "You've got nothing to worry about, if your in my group."
Addy nodded to the two with a serious face. Lilly wasn't kidding, since all she did in her free time dealt with plants on one level or another. And after all, that weird ability...
Lilly got right down to it, before the teacher even started giving instructions. The cups were already filled with a mixture of soil and fertilizer, so all she had to do was measure the distance down into the cup to push the seeds. The teacher really had done most of the work for them, and since bean sprouts grew easily, it wouldn't take much at all.
"Make sure this part of the seed faces up," she instructed showing them the seed. "It'll grow better that way." She proceeded to push the seed down into the mixture in the Styrofoam cup.
Addy was bored. Plants were never her thing. "Lilly, make it grow faster," she insisted. That would make things more interesting.
"What?" Lilly was startled that her sister's request was aloud, rather than inside her mind. She looked at their partners, a little worried.

He was more curious about what was inside the side than really caring about whether or not it would grow. Who cared if they could grow bean sprouts or not? Now if they were growing something really cool, like olives or grapes then he might be all about that. Nonna grew that sort of thing at her house. Thus, he'd taken his pencil and murdered his seed, but quickly shoved it down in the soil before anyone noticed. A glance at his sister and he rolled his eyes then pushed her seed down as well. She didn't like dirt too much. But his gaze moved back over to the two girls and he tilted his head. "Can you do that?"

Still not happy about the dirt...but she wanted good grades and mama didn't need to be called in about bad behavior. Thusly she watched the other girls, apparently already knowledgeable about seeds and rattled her cup some, watching the dirt shift about. Surprised blink though as Toby took care of her dirt problems and he got a happy smile showing fangs and a little happy noise as well. Now there wouldn't be dirt on her. But just as her brother, she blinked curiously to the girls. "You can make things grow faster?" Was that her power? After all, they were in this school that did seem to have special clases of sorts. "Will we get a better grade?"

Lilly was a little embarrassed. "I doubt it," she managed to stutter out. "We should get a good grade whether it grows or not." She turned to her sister, face as angry as she could make it, which wasn't much. "We shouldn't be relying on our powers," she whispered loudly.
Addy rolled her eyes. "Then what are they for?" She lifted her seed up to the cup with her mind and shoved it into the dirt. When Lilly gasped and elbowed her, looking around the room to make sure nobody else saw it, Addy narrowed her eyes. "You're sounding like Dad." It was obviously meant to be an insult.
Lilly was silent for a moment, then quietly in her defense muttered, "It might make you dependent on them." In all honesty, she wasn't really sure she believed that herself.
"Not using them," Addy growled. "Is letting your powers stay weak."
It was obvious that the two strongly disagreed over the use of their powers.
Ms. Morasec noticed the little quibble and called out sternly, "Behave." It was a weak threat, but what else could she do?

Steel gray eyes widened at the 'flying' seed and he bit his lip. He knew what his mother would say about such things and it wouldn't be very nice. Despite the fact that he and his sister both had strange abilities of their own, she still tried to explain everything away through science. It drove his dad crazy sometimes. "I can break stuff with my mind. And my sister can fix it." Glancing up at his teacher but she wasn't looking at him so he figured he was safe. "If we weren't supposed to have them then we wouldn't."

Of course she found such an action delightful and she gave a giggle at it but quieted as the teacher said something in their direction. Uh oh, had to take the attention off of them so they wouldn't get in trouble. "Toby has the fun power." Shaking her head before poking at her brother and then pointing to the chalk resting on the board rim, knowing that they was the last piece since they had been reminded a thousand times. "Toby...break the chalk so she has to go get more." Means she'd have to leave the room for a few moments, right? Then they wouldn't have to whisper, she hated whispering. Of course getting her brother to purposefully break things was getting harder.

Addy nodded vehemently. "That's exactly what I mean," she agreed with Tobias. She agreed further with Felicity's suggestion. "Oh, I want to see," she whispered especially quietly, so the teacher wouldn't realize it was them.
Lilly was a little surprised to see that there were others with powers in their school. She didn't like the idea of breaking the chalk, but she didn't say anything.
