I saw Jurassic Park again last night, and although it doesn't have the best raptors of the three movies, it still reminded me how much fear and respect they get out of me.
Seriously, I have devoted several hours towards the planning of how to survive a raptor attack.
What does everybody else thing of these beautiful, powerful, genius creatures?

Dude, you're wasting your time planning a counter-attack. They can get past anything eventually.

Deadbolts are very effective against Velociraptors, and if there isn't a big gang of them outside your door, they'll either get tired of trying or move on to an easier target for the time being. But they'll still know you're in there.
Taking to the water is another risky option, as raptors can also swim, though not as fast as they can run. If you took a boat out to a deserted island, you'd be safe for a while, until they developed their own boats and a human radar system.
Basically, I just want to live until I get old. >.>

Bah. Raptors probably would have evolved into the dominant species on earth if they did not all got wiped out.

Raptors would be the only species left on earth if they hadn't all been wiped out.

No, they would not. They are carnivorous.
And cannibalistic societies don't really thrive.

Yeah, but that's what would wipe them out in the end. After they develope fishing technology capable of removing all life from the ocean as well.

No, I DO think they would be intelligent enough to, you know, keep cows or something.

Kinda like what we do?
Fun fact: Alberta has 3million people, and 5.5million cattle.

Correction: Velociraptors WILL be the dominant species on this planet.
You see, with their advanced brains, they foresaw the comet approaching Earth. Since there was virtually no chance of survival, they cryogenically froze themselves in a HUGE block of ice in an underground laboratory. The ice was at just the right thickness that the heat from the center of the earth melted it at a rate which completely thawed them out to a mobile state in the early 1800s.
The only drawback to their plan is that they lost a great deal of their old intelligence. So for the past 200 years, they've been observing us and learning. Currently I believe they are abducting humans not only for food but also for test subjects. It is also my belief that velociraptors are working on making antimatter bombs to destroy the world in the year 2012.
Also, I was out of town all weekend. Uncles 4th wedding. >_>
