Gas prices have thankfully gone down, but at what cost? I just had car troubles apparently caused by bad gas. Mechanic says the fuel may have had too much alcohol and cars these days can't run on too much. Octane levels may have been too low which makes the fuel not burn as much (I'm thinking I had this kind cause of how quickly my gas tank emptied). This problem cost me about $300. All you drivers just be careful.

That is troubling. It makes me think about the problems they're finding with ethanol made from corn (sugar and wheat also), and how it is ruining car engines. That and the fact that using these crops for gas instead of food created a food crises around the world.

I wish Nancy Pelosi would allow the house vote on "drill here, drill now," instead of turning the lights and cameras off in the house and leaving for her book tour, while the Rebel Republicans stayed during vacation on the dimly lit house floor to give speeches. They did that for a couple weeks. I just want the vote. A vote! Whichever way it goes, because this is America.

I want energy independence.

I wish that we could find a oil source here in the 48 states, that would drop the price of gas alot.

We have oil deposits in Alaska as well as off our shoreline. But the government says we can't drill for it.

John McCain is trying to get the government to drill offshore.

That might be because he's just trying to get a few more votes.

His new VP probably had a big part to play in that discussion too.

Meh...I remember when gas here cost less than $1 per gallon...I won't call it 'low gas prices' until it gets back to that

That's why I ride my bike and take public transportation. I refuse to pay for gas anymore.

This is why I am very picky on which places I buy gas from...Texico, Chevron, Mavrik and Shell. Might try a few others, but since these are big in my area, it's easy to find one. Chevron is the best, but it's a little pricy compared to others. You get what you pay for.

ANWR has oil, we just have to get to it. Gotta love politics...

Maybe the millenium will get here soon and it won't be a problem.

I have a 1953 chevy sedan. It's my daily driver. It has the original automatic transmission with 2, yes 2 speeds. They switch at 20mph. Can you imagine the gas milage at highway speeds? crying

I'm seriosly thinking about upgrading it to something a little less brutal on the gas card. The engine stays! I love that thing! But I'm still trying to find some upgrades for it (transmission included). Propane might be an option.
