Vatsa strolled along, enjoying the early evening air. The sun was slowly dipping below the horizone, and the sky was streaked in dusky colours, overall a wonderful setting for a quiet walk.
All that was missing really was somebody to enjoy it with. Vatsa enjoyed his own company sometimes, but he would much rather be with a companion, maybe not even talking, just quiet in each others presence.

But, it wasn't likely that he'd just stumble into anyone, the evening was quiet, only the gentle buzz of a few insects, and the last calls of the birds before they found somewhere to spend the night.
It was a pleasant evening either way..

On the edge of the meadow, nearing the forest paths, Tuli had found an over growth of delicious wildflowers. The scent of the petals had drawn her in, she decided to have a snack before heading back to her home to bed down for the night.

Her tail swished back and forth, attempting to deter insects from landing on her body, her muscles quivering slightly under her skin to convince those that had landed to flit off to another location.

From the distance, the sound of steady hoof beats sounded. Tuli's head rose, her eyes surveying the surroundings, searching for the origin of the sound.

Obviously someone was listening to his idle thoughts, as not long after he wished for some company, he found some. Very pretty company as well. With what was left of the dying sunlight he noticed her graceful birdlike wings, and the delicate blues and white of her pelt, even catching sight of the petal markings on her lower legs.

'Good evening,' Vatsa said, nodding his head to the mare.

At the sound of his voice, Tuli's eyes fell upon the stallion. A smile crossed her face at his greeting. "Good 'eve to you as well," she lowered her head for a moment in greetings.

Raising her head, she took a moment to look over the stallion. His stunning purple coat was dotted with what almost looked like star patterns and beautiful swirls. She almost gasped when she noticed his horn. "You're a unicorn!" she exclaimed. She had met almost all other types of species, but she couldn't remember or recal meeting a unicorn. She took a few steps closer to survey his lovely golden spiral. "Wow..." she said under her breath.

Vatsa chuckled, a throaty but warm sound floating out on the evening air;
'Well yes I am from my mother's side, flutter-corn on my fathers but without wings.' he appraised the mare even more.
'Which I see you have, lovely things, I'll bet you fly well with those.'

He moved closer to the mare, and nosed at her wings carefully, his sensitive skin getting tickled by the feathers.
'Soft..' he murmured.
'So what's your name, winged lady?'

She smiled, and had he been able to see past her fur, she was blushing at his gentle touch. She spread her wings slightly afterwards, to give him a better look as he complimented her.

"Yes, I got them from my father," She smiled proudly. "I'm Tuulikki...But most call me Tuli for short." she tucked her wings back in to her side, then shyly looked away from the stallion for a moment. She still wasn't able to make eye contact for long with strangers.

"I've never met a unicorn," she stated simply. "Might I have your name?" she inquired without looking at him.

Vatsa saw that she was very modest, shy even as she glanced away from him after a small amount of time. He found it peculiar that a mare blessed with so many pretty traits would have trouble talking or being around others.

'Well Tuli,' he smiled.
'Then I shall call you the same. And you have now met a Unicorn.' he nudged her with his nose, staying close to her.

'You can have my name if you look at me and ask for it, you have nothing to fear from me, and you are too pretty to look away.'

She became even more nervous with the gentle nudge of his nose and his nice words. Tuli hadn't traveled far from her parents as a foal or now as a young adult, so she hadn't had the pleasure of meeting many soquili, especially stallions.

She nickered a bit due to her nerves, then looked up at him. Her eyes glistened a bit as she blinked a few times, looked away, then looked back at him before asking.

"Might I have your name?" she continued to look at him, a small unsure smile on her face. The stranger was awfully nice, she wanted to return the pleasure.

Vatsa could almost feel the nervousness radiating off of the mare, and as he wasn't cruel he would let her look away again after he gave his name. It was a shame though...

'My name is Vatsa, Tuli,' he gently nudged her on the neck as though patting her in reassurance.
'There, that wasn't that hard was it? Honestly, I'm not going to eat you.'

Under his reassurances, Tuli looked back at him. She would do her best not to be so nervous, but it was hard. She cracked a wide smile, a small laugh escaping her lips. "Pleasure, Vatsa." she lowered her head for a moment in greeting then lifted it again.

"Please forgive me...I'm not use to the company of others, really.." she didn't want to explain that she still clung her parents side for the most part. She found it quite embarassing as she was no longer a foal. Unlike her brothers though, she just hadn't found a way to leave their watchful eyes.

She paused for a moment, then softly laughed again, "I would hope not, I can assure you I'd be quite tough and stringy." she tried to crack a joke with the stallion.

Vatsa supposed he should remember that not everyone was exactly the same as he was; his mother was a great example of that.

'Oh, how come? Are you not long grown or something?' he'd only started wandering properly when he had grown himself after all.

'No forgiveness necessary Tuli,' he said gently, giving her mane a nibble where it met her neck.
'I don't know, you taste sweet enough,' he replied, grinning.
'But I still won't be eating you, can't get to know a mare if she's in my belly.'

She gave a girlish giggle at his nibbling, it didn't make her as uncomfortable as she imagined it would have. Her father would have a fit seeing her allow it though, good thing he wasn't around.

"I'm plenty grown," she rebuttled with a smile, "I just, I haven't had the opportunity to make many friends..."

She debated on giving him a nuzzle or nibble in return, but she thought it best not to at this point. She couldn't help but to smile, she was enjoying the attention. "That's true, I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to hear me well." she turned her head slightly, looking to the stallion.

"...do you...do you come around here often?" Tuli didn't know how to start conversations well, she was trying to learn to be more social, but she could definately use help. "I'm sure I havent' seen you in these parts before."

"Wow..how stupid was that?" she thought to herself as she cringed slightly.

Vatsa liked the giggle; it showed she was more relaxed than she seemed to be.

'Well, I didn't mean to imply you were childish, just that it hadn't been all that long that you were an adult. How come, did your parents not want you to wander?' he nibbled on her mane again, grooming her a little to try and get her to relax even more.

'Here?' Vatsa peered around in the growing gloom.
'Not even sure where 'here' is right now.' he laughed.
'I've been wandering around mostly, just meeting others, and generally having a good time.'

Her body relaxed under his gentle touch, had it been possible, Tuli probably would have melted into a puddle of mush on the earth beneath her.

"No, it wasn't my parents," she shrugged slightly, she didn't really know why she'd never left far from home. "I'm really close to my brothers....the older ones, not the new one...." She still hadn't gotten use to the new siblings yet, "But they've both gone off...they have families now."

It was something that Tuli had only shared with her mother, her desire to mother...a matriarch of her own family. She had seen her brothers grow..move off..find mates...and have children. Tuli couldn't even make friends that she saw more than once. It weighed heavy on her.

Her voice had wandered for just a moment, but she snapped back together and flashed a smile at Vatsa. "Here? Here is home!" she looked around to the familiar trails and surroundings. "This, this is my serenity. You should see it in early spring. The blooms are gorgeous...and delicious." One thing that could be said about Tuli, she loved food. She knew the best places for fruits and wild flowers when they were available.

"I'm surprised you wandered this far. Where do you normally roam?"

Tuli was beginning to warm up to Vatsa, this probably being told by the amount she started to ramble.

Vatsa could sort of sense the unspoken words and feelings from the mare.

'It must have been hard, watching your brothers go out into the world, have their independence and make their own families.' he said, nibbling on her mane in between his words.

'Did it make you want to wander more, to go and find for yourself what they had?' Vatsa's voice was low now, quite intimate as he talked quietly into her ear.
'I'm surprised you aren't mated, and a mother as well. Shouldn't be alone when you're pretty.'

Vatsa looked around, squinting as he tried to make out his surroundings in the slowly coming night.
'I'm sure it is lovely around here. And me? Wherever my hooves take me now I've 'left the nest'. I have my birthplace as a home if I need it, but right now nowhere and everywhere is where I rest my head.'
