So I go off to college and move into my dorm on Sunday. It's my first year at college and I'm wicked excited! Any advice?

Get to know the campus beforehand. Specially the buildings were your classes are. It's oh so common to see first years completely lost looking for their classes xd

Just this year a guy asked me were the chem building was when he was standing right in front of it (he never even noticed the sign). I just pointed behind me rofl

yeah, knowing about campus is good. also find out if your classes have homework due early would be good to know as well. like i always waited for the 2nd day of school to get all my textbooks so i can get everything in one swoop.

also, get to know the hours of when buildings are open. like the cafeteria and your dorm cuz sometimes you have to use your key/card to get back into the building.

oh and if you plan on ever driving in the future to school, know where the parking lots are that are for a certain parking pass for your car.

and with living in the dorm, try to figure out a good time to take your showers. most of the time i found it was around half and half with girls taking showers in the evening and morning. also sometimes if the showers are all full, you can always go up to the next women's floor and see if any empty showers are there. (might work with co-ed buildings but don't know. was in an all-girl building)

um, that's all i can think of. hope some of it may help. ^_^

Haha yup i'm gonna go search for my classes the day before so I can totally skip that whole looking like a freshman.

That is really funny! that same thing happened to me a couple years ago in high school. I felt so bad but it was really funny. xd

Plan things so you get to class early. A minimum of ten minutes early, specially the first day. Sometimes this will let you get to know the professor, which is always good, I think it affected how some of my professors graded my papers, which helped my grades. (not like they didn't grade fairly, they did, just not as harsh about aall the small small things)

Haha ya it's always betterto get to know your professors. It might be tough to get to a few of my classes early though which sucks

Oh! Another thing! Try to have a good idea of what you class is going to be about before you get there. Professors are usually happy if someone can answer their questions correctly, and if you ask smart questions about what they're talking about, that show you've put in some effort, rather than questions that just show you still don't have a clue about what he/she is talking about.

That also gives you a few bonus points with the prof., which could really help the way they grade you. And studying for a class is something you'd have to do,anyways, so it'll help you for future tests too 3nodding

Here's a great tip if you are sharing a dorm with another person.

Get to know them and ask things like what time do the normally go to sleep wake up. Habits they have, and let them know yours so there is no rude awakenings in the morning and so you don't have a hard time getting the rest you need at night. Find the commons area on your floor so you know where you can go if you need quiet time while your roommate has friends over. Also, get a dry erase board for the outside of your door to leave little messages for your roommate if you are currently working on something so they know to enter quietly or if your just catching some Zzz's in a nap between classes. Or to let them know if you have someone over. For whatever reason it may be. Also works good in the reverse. You don't want to walk into something embarrassing for the both of you.

Also another great thing to know is if you have access to the gym and all its equipment so you can exercise and not gain "The Freshman 15". I did and I haven't been able to get it off since... ^^; And its been ten years... sweatdrop
