Hello there,
I'm currently looking into Dragon Magick and thinking of trying it... I was wondering if any of you have any information about Dragons Magick, or a few links to some good Dragon websites. The only book I've read on the subject is D.J. Conways' "Dancing with Dragons"

If you could help me gather some information I'll really appreciate it. ^^

This is the first I've even heard of "Dragon Magic".... confused Sounds suspiciously "fluffy", like "Angel Magic". I'll hold off a full opinion until I've done some studying on the subject, however. 3nodding

I wish people would stop calling people 'fluffy bunnies' or whatnot, casue (to me) its flameing someone's beliefs...

Now to answer what i know about 'dragon magic':

There is no 'dragon' magic, but there are Dragonians (a race of dragon-people who live on a diffrent plane) who use magic. They have thier own form of magic and spells, but I guess you can call that the 'dragon magic'. Most humans can't really preform it very well because of the complexity of it. I don't know any of it, cause I don't have the time or the drive to learn it...

If you can plain walk, PM me, and I'll help ya if you want...

Yeah, most people accuse it of being fluffy, especially since the book is published by Conway. Frankly, I think so long as you understand what you're doing, you're fine. Dragons have been a fixation of mine since I was a kid (among the first things I ever drew were dragons) and to NOT incorporate them in some way to my practice would be rediculous!

I don't know much about the system as a magic; my feeling is that it was largely made up by the author. If you want to do something, why not make your own system? Ask yourself what dragons mean to you and how you see them. Then go from there and break down their elements and figure out symbolisms and such.

Make my own system? I hadn't thought of that... I'll have to try that, thanks for the suggestion. ^^

I may only say this quoting from a casual friend of mine, whose legitimacy is stable though not necessarily certain, but I am fairly sure that magic centered around dragons is usually quite real, because, according to my friend, they are indeed old and very powerful entities on the astral plane, not entirely unlike contacting a god or goddess of some kind, but I think they're a less lenient lot, only interested in so much as even revealing their presence if you've given them your highest level of respect to them.

That respect, however, seems to be worth it, as anything I've heard of practice aided by high, serpentine forces must become significantly more potent thanks to them, but they are equally more dangerous to cross.

Now, from my personal opinion, I take a matter like this very seriously, since several cultures, from the Babylonian legend of Tiamat and Apsu to the Mayan (?) Quetzlcoatl, dragons, serpents, and snakes have been symbols of ancient and powerful wisdom, so I would see it as very possible to connect with similar figures.

And, about Conway...I just bought a book from her yesterday. O.o; Guess I'll be taking this one with a grain or two of salt.

I did my first white dragon ritual a few months ago. It was really awesome. The ritual I did involves giving the dragon something and recieving something in return. I was very interesting. What the dragon gives you is very private and most people choose not to say. Also you are not supposed to think about what you give the dragon ahead of time. I heard a story that the leader of my circle told us that some one in her coven reached into a pouch he was carrying and pulled out a beating heart to give to the dragon that came to him. LOL he figured that the dragon was hungry. xd

the only thing i know how to do with dragons is call the quarters with dragon gardians. Acctually i don't know how to DO that i've just read and memorized it, and i only did that because Dragons have always facinated me. I can't get any of my family to belive that they are real. But why would country's who had no contact for thousands of years have mythology about the same creature unless they had seen the same creature. Just a thought.

I think i'm rambling..... redface ...sorry

I think i will look into this dragon magic(^_^) biggrin

When used improperly, Dragon Magicks can be very dangerous. A girl from my Coven, her name was Amberle, tried to summon the Black Dragon. She was found dead in the pentacle, the Black Dragon's mate's crystal pendant in her hand.

MAKE SURE YOU DO AS MUCH RESEARCH AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN BEFORE TRYING THESE MAGICKS. I am sorry, but I can't stress that enough. When the Dragon comes, and you haven't picked out the right gift for him or her, he will kill you without a second thought.

Most of the time, the dragons you can summon are harmless enough, but if you get cocky and try to summon a one of the Great Dragons and you have not gotten the right tool or gem or instrument for it, you will never see the light of day again.

I do not speak this to frighten you, I do it to prepare you. Without proper guidance, you will be hurt if you are not careful. Again, I hope I have helped. But I doubt very much that I have.

I have to slightly disagree. In the ritual I did we did not know what we where giving the dragon ahead of time, or that we were even giving the dragon something.
I sugguest if you are going to work with dragons start with white dragons because they are mostly harmless. I haven't worked enough with dragons to give a full answer I know some are dangerous but I don't think you guys have much to fear. I use to do a lot with wind dragons when I was younger though and never ran into a problem. There is a link on the link list that is great for learning about dragons.

Well, actually. It depends on which type you are summoning. Without armed with that knowledge, well, all I'll say is that it really isn't pretty.

But yes. You are right. Start with white dragons and work your way up.

I know very little about Dragon Magic, but what I do know is that, yes, some of it can be extremely dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. I think, if it's something you're going to get seriously into, then knowledge is power!
