Key to Cocktail Measurements
Our cocktail collection recipes are based on the imperial standard used predominantly in the United States. Here are the international equivalents.
Ounce or Pony
1 oz (ounce) equals 3/4 shot, jigger or pony 1 oz (ounce) equals 3 cl (centiliters) 1 oz (ounce) equals 30 ml (milliliters) 1 oz (ounce) equals 2 tbsp (tablespoons)
Shot or Jigger
1 shot equals 1 1/2 oz (ounces) 1 shot equals 4.5 CL (centiliters) 1 shot equals 45 ml (milliliters) 1 shot equals 3 tbsp (tablespoons)
Cup
1 cup equals 8 oz (ounces) 1 cup equals 24 CL (centiliters) 1 cup equals 240 ml (milliliters)
Bottle
1 bottle equals 750 ml (milliliters)
Dash or Splash
Universal terms for small amounts. There are approximately 36 dashes in one ounce. When a recipe calls for a variable amount of dashes, for example 2 - 4 dashes grenadine, this indicates that you are seasoning to taste. A splash is slightly larger than a dash, but considered to be less and 1/2 oz.
Fill
Usually designated to nonalcoholic mixers, such as juices or sodas. To fill you pour liquid into cocktail glass until it reaches the appropriate watermark.
Float
Universal term for layering 1/4 oz to 1 oz spirit on top of a prepared beverage. Best method is to pour liquor over the back side of a spoon or along rim of glass.

Whiskey Sour (this is a favorite of mine)
1 1/2 oz whiskey 1/2 oz sour mix
Mix with ice in shaker and strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry and lemon slice.

1940's Rum Swizzle
1 lime 1 tsp powdered sugar 2 oz carbonated water fill shaved ice 2 dashes bitters 2 oz rum fill carbonated water swizzle stick
In a 12 ounce Tom Collins glass, squeeze juice of lime. Add sugar and carbonated water and stir. Fill glass with shaved ice and stir thoroughly with swizzle stick. Add bitters and rum. Fill with carbonated water and serve with swizzle stick in glass, allowing individual to do final stirring. (Makes one 12 ounce serving.)

Bronx
1 oz dry gin 1 oz French dry vermouth 1 slice orange 1/2 slice pineapple
In a mixing glass, press with spoon and muddle well orange slice and pineapple. Add cracked ice, gin and vermouth. Shake 40 times. Strain and serve in a large cocktail glass.

1930's Tom Collins
2 oz gin juice of 1 lemon 2 tsp powdered sugar carbonated water
In a mixing glass with ice, combine gin, sugar and juice. Shake 15 times. Pour into an 8 ounce glass. Add soda water to suit

Between the Sheets....(hmmmm...lol)
1 oz Bacardi rum 1/2 oz Cognac 3 oz passionfruit juice* 1/2 oz lime juice
Combine in shaker with ice. Serve in rocks glass with lime and cherry.

Manhattan Cocktail - Dry
1 oz Rye or Irish whiskey 1/2 oz Italian sweet vermouth 2 dashes Angostura bitters cherry lemon twist
In a shaker filled with ice, combine liquids and stir. Strain and serve in a glass with a cherry and add a lemon twist.

Daiquiri
1 jigger Jamaica rum 1 lime, fresh squeezed 1 tsp powdered sugar
Shake well with ice. Strain into cocktail glass.

Vodka Martini
1 1/2 oz vodka dash dry vermouth
Combine ingredients with cracked ice in a shaker. Shake well. Strain and serve in a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an olive.

Long Island Iced Tea
3/4 oz tequila 3/4 oz rum 3/4 oz gin 3/4 oz vodka 3/4 oz triple sec 3/4 oz sour mix splash cola
Shake liquors with sour mix. Pour in hurricane or tall glass. Add splash of cola and garnish with a lemon wedge.

Cosmopolitan Classic
/4 oz vodka 1/2 oz triple sec 1 oz cranberry juice 1/2 oz lime juice
Add ingredients to cocktail mixer, shake, then strain into a chilled martini glass.

Pina Colada (my least favorite)
2 oz light rum 3 oz pineapple juice 2 oz Coco Lopez coconut cream ice
Mix in blender and pour into colada glass. Serve with cherry and pineapple spear.

3/4 oz Kahlua 3/4 oz Irish Cream 3/4 oz Amaretto 3/4 oz Vodka ice
Shake extremely well!

Hurricane Carolyne (this ones for you Blood and It has our mate the captain in it!!! lol)
1 shot Malibu 1 shot Captain Morgan's 1 shot light rum 1 shot orange juice 1 shot cranberry juice
Blend ingredients in shaker with ice. Serve on the rocks with orange wheel, cherry and float of Bacardi 151.

Screwdriver
1 1/2 oz vodka 4 1/2 oz fresh squeezed orange juice, ice cold 1 tsp lemon juice
Combine in tall glass filled with cube ice and stir.
