Hidalgo walked easily along the uneven ground, lifting his hooves higher when he came to sharp rocks, or bypassing them completely. He also made sure to watch for hidden holes in the ground. It was just the way the ground felt, is how he could tell he was getting close to one. He wasn't sure his companion knew how to detect them. He looked over his shoulder to his companion. Careful. This area is riddled with holes. I don't want you to trip and hurt yourself.

"Yeah, I've noticed." This was nothing like the moss covered ground of her woodland homes. There were loose rocks everywhere, enough to slid and slip upon with smooth hooves. She was lucky she hadn't even lost her footing, yet anyways. Setsumi blinked in sharp attention to were she stepped, trying to not pace too slowly with her actions. "Have you been through here before? It's so...open and empty." She paused to glance around, nose taking in the scent of dust and dirt. The winds had already cleared out any fading scent of other soquili.

He nodded and turned to look around with a soft smile. This is where I normally live. These plains are what I know as home. He closed his eyes for a moment as a small burst of wind brushed sand across his muzzle. Now you can see why I was so thirsty and dirty when you found me. This is not such an easy place to live, and many find that it is uninhabitable. The dangers here are great, but there is almost always grass for one to eat aplenty, and there is much room to run. You learn how to feel the holes, so that you don't fall into them. He quickly lept sideways just as the earth beneath his front hooves collapsed into itself, and left a whole the size of his head in the earth. And there's one reason that we aren't going any faster.

Blink. "You...normally live here?" She glanced around at his home, this foreign land that was vast and empty. Small ears twittered back and forth as she took in the scene with a new understanding. "No wonder you enjoy running so much." This territory was perfect for practicing it. And getting dusty in too...
Then she snorted in sudden surprise and stomped back a few steps to the new sound. Sand and rocks slidding and collapsing right where Hidalgo had been, and she stared at the little crater. "Yikes." Carefully, she edged away from it and skittered back beside Hidalgo, even more wary of her step and pace.

He looked around fondly, with a small smile on raising the side of his mouth. Yes. During the spring and summer, this is where my days are spent. Fall and winter and when I seek other places. I know that it doesn't look like much, and it isn't nearly as beautiful as your forest. He looked around, and couldn't help but widen his grin as she moved beside him.
Um, I have a question. How are you with other Soquili Setsumi?

"I can imagine it is difficult to survive out here in fall and winter." She nodded while eyes drifted over the scenery. But even in spring and summer, the terrain looks so desolate. Empty. Snorting lightly, the mare shook her head as they continued their travel. She was beginning to learn just what her hooves counded like on firm or flimsy dirt.
"Hm, around other soquili? I...tend to avoid them altogether. Unless I really must interact with them...." It was just her way of life. Shy and hidden in the forest.

He nodded, and took a turned to look at the horizon while still maintaining the pace. I just wanted to warn you that we are probably going to run into a few other Soquili as we travel. Most of them are harmless enough and even friendly. Some, or course, are not. But as we continue to travel. there is a likely chance that we will run into others. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of that. If you would like me to, I'll do the talking if you want me to. He turned his head so he could see her again, while keeping one eye on the horizon, and his ears going in every direction. There were also snakes to watch out for, and various other dangers that one did not think was on the plains.

The mare nodded, somewhat to herself as well. "I know that chances of meeting others are inevitable. That's fine by me." She'd just have to get over it, and at least she wouldn't be alone in the encounters with them. It was the unkind strangers made her nervous. "Whatever works best, we'll figure that out once it happens though." Flicking her tail for some air cirulation, Setsumi trotted on. "So how far does this territory run?"

Oh it can take us a few days to a week or more to cross it, and that's just the plains. There are the mountains we still have to cross through another heavy forested area, and then, it's downhill from there as we cross the estuary, and then we'll be on the beaches and at the ocean. He flicked his tail absently, turning his attention back to look around them both before turning around to see her. On the way, if you don't mind a detour, I can show you these great stone arches that stand tall and on their own. They look like giant eyes. Maybe even cross the white sands that just seem to suddenly spring from the earth. Mayhaps even visit the City of Rocks. They're all in the same general direction, if you would like to see something more on this journey. It's entirely up to you.
Hidalgo, when explaining about the places, sounded much like a foal speaking of his favorite thing he had found to play with. But he couldn't help it. He had made his discoveries, and he wanted to share them. What was the point of finding them if he couldn't share it with someone else, for them to maybe enjoy as well.

((Hurray for Hidalgo the tour guide *LOL* whee And ick, please forgive my horrible-ness of trying to incorporate Oath in somehow. Difficult, it is.)) It was a particularly peculiar day today. The keyblade stallion, Oathkeeper, had long since figured he'd temporarily leave the herd to be manned by his son and daughter-in-law, Starseeker & Maui. He much preffered being the watchfull eye over the group, but today he just couldn't resist the call of a bit of adventuring. So, as stated obviously, the stallion had previously set out for some much needed exploring.
The breeze was calming through his braided mane as he ventured. Listening in, he could hear the tranquil sounds of the land. He took a dep breath in, savoring how fresh and pure the air was. It had been awhile since he could relax like this. His mind, for the most part, was focused on nothing other than wodering what his traveling would bring him upon.

"Oh." Well, it did make sense with how wide the land seemed to spread. And she couldn't see a change in the terrain for miles, but she hadn't known it may be almost a week. And that was just for the flat lands. "Sand then rocks then water. That sounds about right." She chuckled shyly to herself. "Now if only we had wings we could include air also."
Setsumi twitched her ears as she listened in on the plans, eyes widening abit in surprise. "There's that much out there to discover, eh?" She was in awe, knowing she'd never see those things in the woods. She bowed her neck down an inch. "I'd...I'd like to see those. If you don't mind." The mare continued walking, oblivious to the distant presence of the white stallion. She was to used to the cover of trees and her attention was focused most on her footing...

Hidalgo gave an assenting whinny. Wings would make things a lot easier too. Then we could fly over many of the obstacles. You wouldn't have to worry about your footing, but you would have to worry about the thermals and the wind currents. He flared his nostrils as he listened to her speaking again, and picked up the scent of someone else nearby. It was a stallion, and they were nearing his positing. Then we shall go see them. He turned a bit to the North, though keeping a steady but easy pace, especially for his new traveling companion. And from the wind, would bring them even closer to the stallion, whom he could now see. Learning many times it wasn't nice to be rude, he gave a pleasant greeter wicker.

[[ Silent invited me along! :D ]]

It was as if their words had called the wind mare forth from some unexplainable place. Wings spread wide on the currents and paths of the skies, Ayelen spotted the white equine first, the bright color making him stand out against the stark terrain. She didn't quite know what had drawn her here, but the taste of a mild bout of adventure was in the air, and that was good enough for her.
Dipping low, she landed along the ground with a soft pounding of her hooves, breaking her coasting glide down to a trot and then her usual walk. Her cerulean eyes noted the sinkholes and tried her best to follow the prints of soquili that had passed before her, wings stretching and folding against her smooth back before turning to face the other two that were here.
"Ahh," she started, thinking of one thing or another to say, "Hello, then."

Oathkeeper's attention had perked when he suddenly caught notice of a winged mare overhead. It was her that had also helped him take notice of two other nearbye stallions parading his way when she'd landed by the two. What a peculiar party. He wondered if they all knew each other. If not, perhaps then they were wanderers on this fine day, just as he was. He swiftly caught up to them all; meeting them half way so to speak.
He stood before them, tall and smiling. "Greetings! Noticed you were all headed my way. I thought it'd be polite to say hello" Oathkeeper greeted them, "My name is Oathkeeper and you all look like a friendly traveling bunch! Today is a good day for adventuring, I see." With that he gave a thoughtful nod.

Hidalgo turned and watched the winged mare come from the sky, to land before them, and fold her wings. He could understand a bit why he couldn't see her earlier in the sky. Her gray coat matched that of the few clouds above. He nodded to the mare, a friendly gesture, and replied.
Hello. He didn't have a chance to say much more to her, as he heard the hoof beats of another Soquili. He turned to see the white stallion approaching, and prepared for anything. But the stallion seemed friendly enough, so he relaxed a bit on his own as well. He gave a nod to him as well, and couldn't help but smile at his chipper attitude. My name is Hidalgo. And it is a pleasure to meet you Oathkeeper. Looking around at the others, he couldn't help but agree. Yes, it does seem to be a good day for adventuring.
((welcome to the RP both of you. xD))
