So, for those that care, Metallica's released the single from their upcoming album. Hear it here:

Judging by this, I'm going to say that the new album is going to be the next logical step after "Reload," what they would have made had some insane spirit not compelled them to vomit the mess called "St. Anger." That is to say, lots of simplistic, radio-friendly, Nothing Else Matters-style, blunt-edged ballading. Yeah, it's commercial as hell, but at least it's not a ******** embarrassment.

Divinus Cruor Warrior of Metal I think it is a positive step forward. I'm curious as to how good the new album is gonna be, or how bad. Exactly. At least soloing is back. I actually like the riff for "LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD!" Its not bad. Also, Lars cracked out "the kit". Double bass is back.

AJFA was produced terribly, the black album is mediocre, and after that it descends into worse and worse albums until they bottom out with st. anger.
