~Defense Against the Dark Arts~
The class is taught by Professor Lucy Welland. This class is in a first-floor classroom. The textbooks are The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection, all the Lockhart books, Wilbert Slinkhard's Defensive Magical Theory, and Confronting the Faceless. The OWL has a theory and a practical part to the test. Sixth-year students need to learn nonverbal spells.

Jonathan entered the class, with both Sean and Liem lagging behind him.
Liem leaned over to Jonathan and whispered, "So why exactly did you force both Sean and I to take this class."
"To make them believe we're on the up and up..even I know that." Sean said smiling.
"And when was I gonna be notified?"
"I told you four times....It isn't my fault you found the legs of a fifth year more interesting."

On his first day at Hogwarts, he didn't want to screw up. And so as he heard his (he assumed) students talking, he exited his office and entered the bright room he would be teaching in for the next year.
"You are taking this class because it's going to prepare you to dazzle the mind of those 5th years legs. And not in that way. I don't want to hear complaining. If you must, daydream about the legs all period, sleep through class if you will, but do not complain. It yields nothing," he said sharply, almost too sharp. And he tried to soften the words with a smile. "I dunno, girls dig good magic. They're not so fond if you curse your nose off on accident, or worse, theirs. I'm Mr. Charcro, by the way. Your teacher."

Hana rushed in the class and took the first seat she could find. "I'm sorry Professor!" She got her stuff out and sat at the desk, making sure to smile.

"Oh, don't worry, you're not late," he said, checking the magical clock on the wall. "In fact, Miss Yoshida, you're 30 minutes early. I don't know what these punks are doing here, because they certainly don't want to get a head start, but you....why are you here? You want me to check your schedule? The class is at 2:15." He beckoned he up to his desk, where the parchment was cluttered and he knew he would not be able to figure out if she was even the right class.

"Really? I could have sworn I was late." she got up and walked over to him, handing him her schedule. "Are you new? Well, I'm assuming you are 'cause I've never seen you before! How do you like the school so far?"

"Very new. Yep, you're in my next class. Stick around," he said, winking at her. "It's a very nice school. I've met a teacher or two and almost no students. So tell me about yourself." His eyes glanced her up and down. She couldn't be older than 16 or so.

Hana was a bit taken back by the wink, and blushed. "Oh, who have you met? Most of them are quite nice and charming, so you'll fit in fine." she looked at her feet and licked her lips, the looked back up at him. "Well, I don't really know what to tell you." she thought for a moment. "I'm in my 5th year. My father says that I should just stay at home. He thinks that all women are made to pop out babies. I don't really like to go home in the summer, because I have to deal with him. What about you?"

He noticed her blush and the way her lips looked after they were wet. But she didn't seem to be flirting. "Well, I guess some men don't understand, like your father. If women were only meant to push out babies, then there wouldn't be so many great witches, so many great woman politicians. For example, it looks like you want to make something of yourself, showing up early and all that." He avoided talking about himself. Teachers were not supposed to do that.

She smiled at him brightly. "Your really think so! I think I like you!" she giggled and put her arms behind her back, letting out a sigh she didn't know she had been holding. "What made you choose the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts? Are you interested in them?" she looked up at him attentively, pulling her bottom lip into her mouth without noticing.

"I grew up with them," he said simply. And then he smiled at her youthfulness, her childish habits that made her lovely. "And if it were appropriate, I'd say that I like you too, but we all know what misunderstandings can come out of that." He winked again and summoned a seat for her to sit in. "How rude of me," he admitted, offering her the empty chair to sit beside him. "Your legs will tire."

"Your grew up around the Dark Arts?" Her eyes grew. "Woah, what did your parents do?" she wasn't taking the hint. She lightly tapped him on the shoulder as she sat down, crossing one leg over the other, "You can say you like me. I won't tell." she giggled as she put her finger on her lips.

Jonathan gave the professor a small look of contempt but it shifted into a smile, "Yes. Terribly sorry Professor." and strolled over to his seat, giving Hana a quick glance back.
Sean followed suit but Liem stayed back and joined in the conversation. To the disapproval of his brother.
"The dark arts eh teach? It's good to know your not just a dirty old man. As much as I admire that quality about you. Not many can act so politely and obviously be thinking things of an ....unpolite nature." He smiled innocently and since he wasn't offered a seat as well, Liem mearly sat on top of a nearby desk. "I'd like to know about your parents as well? Anyone I'd know? Probably not since a great deal of people with knowledge of the dark arts are locked in azkaban..." he continued to smile warmly at him.

Hana looked at Johnathan and cocked her head in a questioning manner, then looked at Liem. "Oh, don't be so rude to the new teacher," she gave him an equally warm smile, with a hint of mischief.
