Midnight Shadow gazed up at the darkened sky that was slowly being dotted with small stars and planets. Had night really come that quickly? All she had done today was go on a few errands that her human companion required for her to go with him. It didn't seem to have taken that long. Shaking her head, she turned her gaze towards the teepee that her human companion was living in and wondered if he was going to come out to say good-night to her.

Flicking an ear, she realized that he had already said it but in a tongue that she couldn't understand. She lowered her head slightly as she trotted to the outskirts of the small teepee circle that was around the larger fire pit and gazed out across the meadow. Surely there had to be someone out this early evening for her to talk to. Pricking her ears up slightly, she began to trot slowly away from the teepees and towards the small stream that was a mere mile away.

Midnight shuddered slightly as she felt the temperature of the air around her starting to get colder. Why did it get colder at night and hotter during the day-time hour? It was then that she sensed that she wasn't alone. On the other side of the stream she noticed an odd looking Soquili.

Tilting her head to one side, she stopped in her tracks and gazed at the other Soquili, stunned at the appearance of him.

Midnight Shadow wondered what the stallion was doing. He sure did look even more odd playing in the water. She was so deep in thought that the sound of the stallion's voice made her jump slightly. "Umm...." she said quietly before taking a few steps backwards. "I'm...Midnight Shadow," she said in a shy voice. "Indeed...it is a nice night."

"Fireflies?" she asked innocently. She had never seen one before. It was then that a floating yellow object flew by her nose and she nickered slightly, startled by the object. "Is that...a firefly?" she asked as the yellow object landed on her nose for a few seconds before flying away.

Midnight tilted her head slightly and watched the firefly circle around her nose. "I don't remember what I used to do when I was a child. That was...so long ago."
