Gravechylde What are your feelings on women in music? Personally I have no problem with it and don't treat them differently just because they're a woman. But there are 2 things I wonder about. 1: I think it's a shame that most women usually end up being novelty acts even when they go out and try to be serious musicians. There are always people who focus more on the fact that they are a woman instead of the music. 2: Is there any real reason why almost all women in music are singers? Grave Made this thread a long time ago, and due to some flamming...it died. BUT let's try this again because he had a great idea for a thread.

Most all of you know that I LOVE female vocals, so I think women should have more of a place in metal. Due to the , I am not sure to call then vocal restraints or just the norm within the genre, males are said to be better suited for certain genres, like Death, with I think is really unfortunate. I love the vocal ranges the females can reach that most males can't, I love how much easier it is to read emotion in a woman's voice than it is a male's, and I love have most female vocals add an angelic and sophisticated sound to the song.

He is very right about most women being vocalists. The few times I have seen women doing the instrumental work, they were usually just cheesecake playing a drowned-out bass. Case in point:

Gravechylde Dragon Bleed I love how much easier it is to read emotion in a woman's voice than it is a male's. When is it hard? Maybe read was the wrong word; maybe feel emotion would have been better. I just know, personally, I feel more of the emotion when I hear a woman sing. Then again, it has honestly been so long since I have hear a good male vocalist, so a male vocalist may not be as inferior to a woman's voice as I think.

It goes from person to person, not by gender/race/etc. There are good and bad singers in all genres/races/genders, but it's just personal preference on the sound of the voice.

I don't think having more female intrumentalists would make a difference. Someone who can shred out a great solo is good, but what difference does it make what gender they are? When you listen to the album, you can't tell.
