Yamaguchi Kumiko was given a call late one night, promptly called by the adoption agency's secretary. "Hello? Is this Yamaguchi Kumiko? I hope I didn't wake you up during the middle of your sleep but your child has arrived and I do hope you can come by either right now or maybe tomorrow morning?" Questioned Lucien from the other side of the phone, her voice cheerful as usual. It's almost creepy how one could easily see her smiling even when she's not there.

Kumiko had just finished grading the last of her students' tests when the phone rang, and though she was tired and wanted nothing more than to slip into her bed, she sighed and reached for it. After all, one never knew - it could be the school calling or something.

But it was far better than anything she could have hoped for.

"He's arrived?" she squealed into the phone, just about dropping it in her excitement. "Seriously?"

She reached for her glasses and slid them on, but even the lenses couldn't hide the glint in her eye. "I'll be over shortly!" she told the agency agent promptly, without even waiting for a reply. "See you soon!"

And she hung up without waiting for a goodbye.

...

Less than half an hour later, she was at the Adoption Agency. She had dressed quickly, and it was obvious. She was wearing mismatching socks, and her running shoes were untied, and for the first time in a very long time, her hair was not in its usual pigtails, but hanging loosely down her back.

She ran up to the counter and beamed at the person behind it.

"I'm Yamaguchi Kumiko," she told the person eagerly. "I got a phone call ..."

Lucien was standing at the table with the 'trap door' lifted up, she smiled her 'creeper smile' at the new mother. "Please come this way to the head office, Fallen shall hand you your child." she replied, her stance polite.

She pointed towards the stairs that seems to appear out of nowhere form the back of the wall.

"Oh yes, a warning. Fallen is going to be slightly grumpy. She didn't get enough sleep so...um...Becareful."

Kumiko didn't know what to make of Lucien's warning, but she smiled nervously and followed after her, hands clasped anxiously behind her back. She was eager to welcome her new child ... she was looking forward to him, more than she had anticipated in the beginning that she would, but Lucien's mysterious greeting had made her ... well, to be frank, worried. Had something happened? She couldn't say why she had this feeling ... just ... something about Lucien's actions, or something ...

"I hope everything's all right," she murmured as she followed Lucien towards the stairs. "It's just ... new children having trouble sleeping that kept her up, right?"

She hoped it would be nothing more. She didn't know how to handle ... anything more.

"No, finding out your child has arrived and her dayly arrangement." Lucien replied easily before moving though the empty hall. Chairs were lined neatly on both sides as the only thing that seemed out of place was the child play pen in the corner. The secretary knocked gently on the door before smiling, she opened the door and peaked her head in before a tissue box flew right out from above her head. "She's here Fallen." the secretary said before opening the door fully and urged the new mother inside.

"I'll leave her in your hands then." she said before walking back out with the door closing behind her with a silent "Good day."

Daily arrangement? Kumiko was confused. But that was nothing new for her, and she simply followed Lucien towards the door. She ducked to miss the box of tissues, and once more her fears grew. What was going on? Was this really a safe place? Perhaps it was best that she was taking her child away from here so quickly ... she didn't want him to be affected by anything like this, she didn't want him to become violent!

She stepped inside the room at Lucien's encouragement and stepped aside quietly. Her brown eyes scanned the room, examining everything, trying to see what was going on, and who all was there.

"Hello," she ventured finally, her voice wavering slightly. She was nervous ... though that wasn't anything new either. She was usually nervous. Except when she was teaching.

Fallen was sitting in her leather chair, facing Kumiko with what appears to be a baby in her arms. The head waved with her free hand while steadying the baby in the other. "Hello. I apologize for having to call you in the middle of the night but really, I would like to say your child is quiet nocturnal...no?" she stated almost as if hinting something. Fallen slowly stood up from her sit and walked over to the new mother, she nodded slightly before handing Kumiko the baby. "Oh yes...I almost forgot, congradulations. You're a mother now. Do take care of the kitty."

A smile was on her face as she got back into her sit, she then pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. "I'll need you to fill this last contract for me and you'll be set to go home." she said before picking up another child onto her lap, the boy had feathers coming from behind his ears as well as wings from his back. He looks like he's about to fall over as his eyes blink in attempts to stay awake. A silent sigh could be seen on the head's lips as she started to urge the boy to get some rest, it only took her a 2 words to get the child into dream land. "Kids..."

Kumiko's small eyes grew wide as she took in the sight of her son - how strange did that sound? - sitting in Fallen's lap. Her heart began to pound in her chest, and she took a hesitant step forward.

"Nagai?" she murmured softly as she took the infant from Fallen, cradling him gently in her arms. "He's so cute ... thank you so much!" She smiled brightly at Fallen, tears of joy pricking at the corners of her eyes. She giggled and looked back down at the little feline child. "Don't worry about calling me in the middle of the night, I've been waiting for him so anxiously ... I would have come out at any time."

Her attention was drawn to Fallen once more as the woman headed back to her desk and took out a pen and paper, and, having a feeling that there was more paperwork to be done (when wasn't there?) she followed, sitting in the chair across from the desk. She laughed again softly, reaching for the pen, her eyes flickering back and forth between Nagai and the other infant that Fallen was holding.

"At least some of them sleep at the right time," she smiled as she began to fill out the contract, keeping everything in the English format, which was hard, considering how she had been raised. Sure, she was a high school English teacher, but when she was excited she still reverted to her native Japanese both in speech and style.

Finally the form was filled in and signed, and she passed it back across the table to Fallen.

"And that's it?" she asked brightly. "We can go home? Does he have anything here that I need to take with us? Blanket? Toy? Anything?"

Perhaps he was too young to have had any of those things here, but one never knew, after all. And children, no matter the age, hated to be parted from their possessions.

"That's all, but I would like you to bring him back once in a while for a check up. These children a much more different then normal children and their needs are slightly different as well." Fallen replied, smoothing the hair of her own child lovingly. A small, warm smile was on the head's face as she watch the baby in Kumiko's arms. It's always nice to watch another child 'find' their 'parent'.

Taking a small sip of her coffee, Fallen watch the new mother. "I'm slightly surprised you're not screaming your head off at the fact your child has cat features. Usually you would think it is abnormal...No?"

Kumiko cuddled the fidgeting infant, smiling at him when he took a fistful of her hair and stuck it into his mouth.

"In this world that we call Gaia," she laughed softly, "there are a great deal of strange things. I have seen ... so many things in this city, that I believe that I can safely say the only thing that is abnormal ... is to be normal. Pure humans are a rare breed nowadays, or at least they are at the school where I teach."

She raised her dark eyes to look at Fallen, and the joy and the love reflected there was the purest and warmest that there existed.

"I have spent the last few months ... wondering ... wondering desperately ... dreaming about what my son might look like," she murmured, "and I have to admit that yes, I did presume he would be more human. But the cat-people have always fascinated me ... I have looked so forward to his arrival ... how could I think him odd? Fear him? Or even pity him? No ... no. To me, he is beautiful ... so precious ... though I have had him only a matter of minutes."

She blushed faintly, embarrassed by her passionate speech, and she was grateful for the dim state of the child-filled room, thankful that the semi-darkness would hide the redness of her cheeks.

"Then I have no reason to fear that you are not worthy of being his mother then." She smiled, cradling her own child onto her lap. The atomsphere around her was laxed and warm as Fallen nodded. "Well, this shall be all. As I had said before, I would like you to come every so often so I can give the kitten a check up. I'll hope to see you soon."

As if listening, the door of the office opened as Lucien returned with her usual smile. Her smile warm but yet mysterious in a way as greeted them all. "Well, it seems everything went well. Shall I walk you to the door?" the secretary asked, her smile still glued to her face as an almost erie feel came from the woman. Fallen's expression suddenly harden as she watched the nurse. "Lucien, please tell me you didn't threaten one of my 'friend's' secretaries again when they said they can't move the meeting."

"Of course not! I just told her to find a way or I'll sick a few friends on her."

The head sighed before waving at Kumiko, "Oh yes, what you just heard shall not leave this room...Is that alright?"

Kumiko rose to her feet, adjusting Nahai in her arms as she did so, and smiled at Fallen.

"Yes," she agreed quite happily. "I will be back in a few weeks for his checkup. Thank you very much."

She was about to leave the room when Lucien returned, and she remained silent during the exchange between the two Agents; but she couldn't help but feel just the littlest bit nervous with the direction that their conversation took. It took no urging for her to agree to Fallen's terms:

"Not a soul," she agreed, drawing her finger and thumb across her lips as if zipping them shut. Once again she had the feeling that all might not be well here, and she was glad that she was rescuing Nagai from what she feared might not be quite as safe a place for him as the adoption agency should have been.

"Thank you again," she repeated, bowing low, her long black hair nearly brushing against the floor; and then she straightened and headed towards the door. "I shall see you in a few weeks then."

She turned and smiled nervously at Lucien, nodding faintly. "Yes ... if you would walk me to the door I would be most grateful," she assured the woman quietly. Perhaps she was just getting towards the point of being overtired, but things were strange here, and she wanted nothing more now than to take her new son home with her, where she knew they would both be safe.

After walking the new mother to the door, the secretary let out a small sigh. "Such a beautiful life you two are going to have...Thought I muse say I wouldn't want the responsibility of taking care of one....Must be fun though," Lucien let out a soft giggle before giving Kumiko a gentle push out the door and closed it. The nurse saluted Fallen as she too left not too much later.

"Don't kill my 'friend's' secretaries...ok?" was the last thing the head asked before leaving the agency to her secretary again who looked like an angel with her innocent smile. "Of course, if I did I wouldn't have anymore people to scare!"

Thus...this ends another arrival.
