[ S a v i o r ] -Study of the Human Body-
Required for: School of S&T, School of Magic Class Description An anatomy course that features comprehensive guides to the human organs, systems, and body structure for the students. In addition, more abstract, ethereal elements of anatomy, such as chi, the flow of mana, and acupuncture, will also be discussed. Classroom Description Starting from the entrance and winding its way right along the room is a time line on developments and theories across the ages, sometimes accompanied by a model. Computers are arranged in rows facing the front of the classroom. There must have been some issue with Micajah lately, perhaps a side effect of the fire, and it seemed to cause the youth to feel restless inside his own room. No longer could he sit in front of the computer and do lessons via self-study like he'd done many a time before without any problems, and as he once again found himself in the school buildings and heading for a classroom he chuckled.
Perhaps this was his way of trying to successfully meet all the students that occupied this island with him. He'd seen so many at the fire, so many faces who's names he barely knew and personalities he was completely alien towards, and it reminded him that he had a reason to be here other than simply studying. The feeling of unease at not knowing all of his fellows weighed him down like a stone in his stomach and an annoying ache in his head, so the best course of curing what ailed him seemed to be actually leaving his room and getting into the classrooms.
In a way it was a win/win, since he was still attending classes that were required to move on within his field, and now he could and most likely would meet all those others who'd seemed to reclusive - just like him. With a final look at the map he held clutched in his fingers (yes, a map) he made his way to a door that the map had marked with an 'x', opening it slowly and noiselessly lest he disturb anyone that might have happened to be inside at the moment.
"Sorry for the interruption."
Micajah wasn't sure if class had started yet or not, as he didn't know the times for the actual class length as well as self-study times, so he hoped nothing that important had gone on.

Standing a short ways from the door in front of a life-sized model, RuiZhi Tai was engrossed in his studies. Dark brown eyes traveled over the length of green lines that indicated chakra, the blue trails next to it indicating mana flow. He'd been thinking of Irame again and all she had taught him, piecing together his growing well of knowledge and how the two branches of the school could fit into one. The Chinese student felt as if there were just one or two pieces he was missing, and that they would connect everything perfectly and he would know--
He blinked, startled out of his thoughts as a familiar voice reached his ears, looking over to the door. RuiZhi adjusted his glasses for a moment before offering a brief, polite smile. "It's not interrupting," he assured the other, eyes turning back towards the model near by, "when it's at your own pace. Good to see you again, Micajah." He would, of course, keep to himself about a certain blonde they both knew; no need to cause upset in the middle of class, right?

Micajah's face paled, right down to the bruise he sported on his cheek (neatly gained only a day before), at the sight of RuiZhi in the classroom. It wasn't that the youth was scared of this boy in any way or form, far from it as he rather liked the Chinese youth's spirit and general atmosphere, but the fact that he was here with him and Scyeth was nowhere to be seen that caused his face to drain.
But he couldn't let that show so very openly to someone who'd been polite enough to greet him with a smile and the use of his name, so he quickly pushed aside any doubts he hand and returned the sentiment.
"Well met, RuiZhi. I haven't seen you in a while, how are you doing?"
He spoke with all politeness that was required, as the boy before him he knew to be an advanced student in the upper levels, and for some reason he felt the need to show his manners more towards RuiZhi than towards others, such as Scyeth or Nathaniel perhaps. Maybe it was because deep down he feared that if he somehow offended him then Scyeth may come and sock him another one in the skull. At the memory of being punched he rubbed the bruise tenderly, the look on his face one of a bad thought. He certainly didn't mind being hit if it would help people to learn, but that didn't mean he had to like it.
Micajah made his way into the classroom and closed the door behind without making too much noise, and he slid his bag from his shoulder as he approached a random computer screen that would serve as his outlet for this lesson. He didn't have much more to say, he felt awkward, and he could only stare at the other with a faint tint of red on his cheeks.

RuiZhi turned his attention back to his classmate, and had to pause for a moment when it seemed as though Micajah had just seen a ghost. He blinked a few times, even casting a brief glance over his shoulder before watching the other. His head dipped slightly in a nod at the greeting, lips twitching in a faintly confused smile. Maybe Micajah was just sick?
"I'm well, thank you for asking," he replied in honest, dark eyes shifting to the blossoming bruise on the youth's face. "Are you...are you okay?" It was a little blunt and probably outside the realm of politeness, but for one studying to be a doctor, one couldn't always afford the dance of pleasantries when someone else was injured. Even if it was as simple as a bruise, there was always cause for concern in the harm of comrades.
The Chinese student turned from his model to face Micajah fully, his expression settling into a worried frown. It seemed odd for such a polite young man to be sporting a bruise in such a peculiar area; RuiZhi seemed to have forgotten the comments made during the fire, but truthfully, he had blocked much from his mind of the incident.

"Oh, I'm doing fine, thanks."
It was almost by instinct alone that his hand flew up to the bruise on his cheek, perhaps to hide it from the other's eyes, but at this point in time it was far too late. Micajah knew that RuiZhi had seen the bruise and had even asked about it so by quickly trying to cover it he only drew more attention to the problem at hand. He was sort of thankful he had his back to the boy while he was setting down his satchel, but he felt it rude to not look when speaking to someone.
"This is nothing, I walked into a doorknob yesterday."
That was a clear lie. There was no way a bruise could be that high on his face, that clear on his face, if he'd done something so simple as walk into something. He skin was practically three shades of purple and black in some areas, turning green in others, and here he tried to play it off with a stupid lie. If he had any shame in him at that moment, Micajah would have surely felt it, but instead he simply smiled against the dull ache.
"Pretty careless of me, wasn't it? My Father always told me I never paid enough attentions to my surroundings."
There had been no mention of the fire, or of Scyeth, so Micajah left it alone at that.

"Walked into a doorknob?" He echoed the words slowly, as if he wasn't sure he was hearing it right. Of course doorknobs were far too low to simply walk into them, and more to theory, he was relatively sure the other boy would have had to have ran into it to make such an ugly bruise blossom on his skin. RuiZhi sighed softly, eyes turning back to the model near by with his lips thinly set. He wasn't a completely naive fool, knowing full well Micajah was hiding the truth, but it was not his concern. If the other teen didn't want to talk about it, it wasn't his place to pry.
Shrugging it off, he gave a non-committal nod, picking up his notes and observing them for a moment. He really didn't want to stare at the obvious swell on Micajah's face, and so he busied himself with other tasks. The doctor in him sorely wanted to help him get rid of it faster, but...
RuiZhi smiled a little more warmly, glancing to Micajah from the corner of his dark eyes. "So what are you going into, Micajah? Does it actually require this class or is this a place holder?"

"Doorknobs are dangerous, you know. I'm lucky they can't move around on their own or I'd never get a moment's peace."
He chuckled and started taking books out of his satchel, glad that he was getting into the habit of carrying the right ones around instead of just grabbing whatever looked about right while heading out the door in a hurry. A notebook for information, an anatomy text book for reference. Good.
"I'm looking to venture into the School of Magic as my path here, so I guess you could make this class is a placeholder. That's not to say I'm uninterested in anatomy, but I don't think this class will have a direct impact on my scholastic future."
Hopefully that comment didn't offend the Science student that he was conversing with, though Micajah was pretty sure that Ruizhi wasn't the type for easy offense. At least, what he remembered of his personality during their brief encounters, that is.

"Actually, this is what you'll want then." RuiZhi brushed off he doorknob comment, instead focusing at the model he himself had been studying, tapping it lightly with his knuckle. "It shows the circulatory system, but these lines," he drew a slender finger over the green and blue veins he had been studying so diligently before, "are for chakra and the 'source' of magic; green and blue, respectively." He allowed his gaze to sweep over the intricate and expansive network, smiling a little to himself before returning his gaze to Micajah.
"It'll come up in your classes eventually." He paused, thinking it might be strange for a Science student to know as much as he did. "Heru Irame was very informative when I questioned her about certain events," he explained, knowing he didn't need to but not minding. RuiZhi hadn't had much time to visit his favorite elven teacher, but that didn't mean he couldn't try to warm someone else to her. "She's a very good lady. I hope you'll have her classes."

"Oh, I've met and spoken with Professor Irame before, and I must agree with you. We spoke about magic being used for things like medical purposes, though our conversation was cut off since it was during the Christmas event this past winter."
Micajah took his notebook into his hands and strode over towards RuiZhi and the model, his hands already scribbling down the information that the young Chinese student had mentioned about chakra and its lines. It easier for him to draw the anatomical model like he was doing a clothing dummy, and as he sketched the veins here and there he was glad that reading over his drawings would be easier than his fast handwriting.
"So basically the human veins are also our source of chakra for magic, or do the chakra lines lie beneath? I was trying to find that in my books but was having a hard time. I tend to overlook things when I'm trying to find keywords."
Maybe it wasn't right of him to ask another student quests like this but since there was no teacher around and he felt that seeking one out would take longer, this was the best option for Micajah. At the moment, anyway.

The youth quirked an amused smile. "That's what we discussed as well," he remarked, "maybe we'll run into each other there sometime." He owed the elven woman another visit, as his advanced studies allowed for more questions and insight. RuiZhi missed her pretty way of speaking and warm encouragement, which was about as far opposite as possible with his own more foul-mouthed sister.
Turning his attention back to the class at hand, he gave a short nod to Micajah. "They are undocumented systems," he tried to explain, "that are focused in certain places to focus one's energy to increase flow." RuiZhi pointed, his finger trailing down the model with each word, "Sahasrara, the top of the head; Anja, the forehead; Vishuddha, the throat; Anahata, the heart; Manipura, the navel; Swadhisthana, the reproductive organs; and Muladhara, the lower body." He stood upright again, nodding with satisfaction; his pronounciation wasn't the best, but it was sufficient. "The head alone has seven more, eight if you include the sri."
Looking over the model, he absently touched the colored portions. "These are the lines the chakra follows. I suppose it's less of a seperate entity and more something that enhances what we already have." RuiZhi glanced over to Micajah, smiling. "That, I'm still learning."

Listening to RuiZhi talk was amazing, the knowledge that came from his far beyond what Micajah would have first guessed him to know, and as the young Chinese man pointed things out Micajah merely nodded his head dumbly and scribbled down labels on his drawing. He probably wasn't spelling them correctly at all, as he was going phonetically thanks to what RuiZhi was saying, but it would do until he cracked his books open later.
"Ah, I see. I remember reading once in a book that people believed their spells would be stronger when their own blood was directly used, so perhaps that is a connection to Chakra lines lying under veins? Also weren't blood sacrifices used when summoning creations, as the blood of the pure was said to hold immeasurable power?"
He was really branching away from the talk of anatomy by pulling in the use of blood in magic, but really weren't they all connected? Human sacrifice had been long since rooted in the history of magic, and to properly perform a sacrifice one had to possess an extensive knowledge of the human anatomy.
"Then there were those who would tattoo runes onto themselves believing different parts of their body contained more magic than others . . .and I'm rambling."

Micajah may have thought he was rambling, but RuiZhi was hooked. He nodded enthusiastically, momentarily forgetting they were in class and should be studying rather than sharing theories. "Heru Irame, she uses blood magic to summon," he confirmed. "I saw it myself when we were in China. I think it's different for each race, though." He considered the ideas with great seriousness. "Big Sister Javelin, she's a magic user too, but I've never seen it from her before. Heru Irame said the use is different for everyone - the medium, the casting, the words used - so I wonder if there's really any one way or thing that needs to be done..."
The teen jerked himself out of his own rambling reverie, giving a brief smile to Micajah. "At least we ramble together," he offered lamely, laughing with a faint hint of embarrassment. RuiZhi didn't often get to talk to like-minded students, and to do so now was thrilling. He just had to make sure he didn't get carried away and scare off the other student.

"Using blood for magic sounds a little too painful for a wimp like me to even attempt. I'm not much into pain, let alone doing something self-inflicted, so I'll probably stick to rune-based magic or chanted spells. I may even give the dance types a shot if I can muster enough magic to make myself into a dancer."
He chuckled at his joke, knowing any attempts at dancing by him would lead to mental scarring and people running for cover; Micajah was challenged in that aspect, after all. He was tempted to try a rain dance a little while back when he thought no one was around, but the fear of being caught over actually summoning rain and being sniped about it made him change his plans at the last minute. Not that it was a bad thing, since he hadn't finished all the beading that was needed for the headdress, but anyway...
"I don't believe I've met Professor Javelin before, but I have heard of her exploits. She is someone I look up to as someone who would like to be a magic user one day. And as for rambling, at least we sound smart while doing it. I'd hate to ramble and sound like an idiot."
A cheezy grin decorated his face as he ruffled his hair, though he had to wince thanks to the bruise. While he was talking he had been able to ignore the pain thanks to the zeal of his conversation, but now that he'd stopped and his body had been given the time to react. The wince was very noticeable and it caused his hand to run to his cheek, his cool fingers touching the warmth emitted by cells trying hard to heal.
"b*****d didn't have to hit so hard..."
He was trying to mumble, but that could only go over so well.

The teen chuckled, nodding at Micajah's joke. "Sounds promising," he replied with a mostly straight face, before continuing on in their discussion. "I found the use of blood interesting. Heru Araquenosse told me of Blood Clerics, and since I want to be a doctor..." RuiZhi smiled quietly, shrugging his shoulders. He'd never shared that information out loud with anyone - not even Scyeth - but it seemed appropriate to mention it now.
The Chinese youth laughed at the rambling part, rubbing the back of his neck. "We're a bit--...hey, are you okay?" he asked again, alarmed as Micajah visibly winced. He caught part of the mumbled words - not enough to call the other out on it, but enough to get the jist - and leaned forward, looking over the dark blossom on Micajah's face. "Funny, I didn't know doors hit," he replied softly. "Anyway, should we get some ice for you? Seems like we'll have a hands-on lesson," he tried to joke gently, his smile faint.

"Ice...doesn't sound too bad right now, actually. I tend to forget about pain when I'm focusing on something I like but as soon as my mind slips back into anything else I can feel it starting up again."
Micajah took his hand away and leaned backed slightly as RuiZhi leaned near him, the reaction almost forced instead of natural. The boy didn't have space issues, he just had reason issues, and not getting super close to RuiZhi was reason enough to back up. He made a note not to mention hitting or anything else about his bruise that could lead to actually having to say something about the cause...though he had a sneaking suspicion RuiZhi may have already known.
"Sometimes the best lessons are learned through experience only. Didn't someone say that it's the best teacher, after all?"
He tried to grin to relieve the situation, though it was faint and almost forced as well. The topic needed to go back to conversation-worthy items, and quickly. The Chinese lad had said something before they got to this point - what was it? Oh.
"Blood Clerics? Are they doctors who use blood magic as a basis for healing?"
