Parvati bounced slightly on the couch, unused to such a quiet atmosphere. True, she had regular sessions of meditation with her mother but even then she couldn't quite stop herself from moving. She looked from left to right, examining the room and she itched to touch the furniture and see what they were made of. She didn't though, because her mommy had told her not to destroy anything. And she'd get in trouble with her daddy if she didn't do exactly what her mommy told her to do...not that she would ever disobey her mother. She was too smart for such acts of rebellion. Mommy would just make her run laps for her disobedience and daddy...he'd make her sit in a corner to quietly sulk. Oh the horror!

She imitated a terrified face she saw once in a movie, complete with hands spread at her cheeks, her mouth agape, and her eyes wide with fear. It disappeared a second later though and she was back to her exhuberant self. She wondered what her uncle Guyy would say to that. Was this girl insane? Well...partly. She did have an uncontrollable side after all.

"Mr. Sillllllyyyy!" she whined. Apparently, a few seconds of silence was enough torture for her, "I'm booooored."

She stood up after a moment and started pacing, unable to fully relax because of the 'talk'. There was a cute frown on her face and she looked very much like Aya at that moment when the priestess was pondering. "You know, my berserk side is not the result of daddy's and mommy's genes. They think that but it's really not the case. I didn't wanna worry them so I didn't say anything. Come to think of it, you're the first one I'm telling this to Mr. Silly," Parvati said and bounced up to Guyy and held a part of his shirt in her small hands, crumpling the poor cloth to the point of no return, "don't tell anyone. Please?"

Not waiting for a reply, she sat back down to her earlier position and sighed. She was clearly nervous. The only ones to truly know what went on in her mind whenever she was taken over was her mommy and her daddy. It was very hard to talk about, to relive the nightmare. She hugged her knees and looked to the side, trying to find a way to get herself to talk about the actual subject.

"Uhm...I...it's very scary. I'm aware but at the same time, I'm asleep. I hear many voices and sometimes I can understand them but most of the time I can't. They keep pulling and tugging and my throat doesn't work. Sometimes I can't even breathe..."

She was rambling and was jumping from one topic to another. She knew it but she just couldn't seem to stop. Her last spoken words were meant to describe what she saw in her mind whenever she was taken over though by the way she suddenly spit it out after talking about genes, it would no doubt be confusing to the one listening.

Guyy lacked many things in life, but it could never be said that patiences was among them. He eyed the young girl fidgeting restlessly on his couch. For the time being at least they had some privacy, so she would be quite free to talk. Though it had taken quite a bit of convincing to get Ilia to go do something else. At that moment she was busy stress testing her new and somewhat incomplete arm. He had her in long sleeves for the time being, knowing that the sight of her still bare and exposed skeleton and vital systems might be a little disturbing to the others. It would be quite a while before it was fully repaired and blending seamlessly into the rest of her body. He'd had to begin construction from scratch to build new valves into her cooling system to prevent a repeat of the training incident. And he'd have to spend ages sculpting the skin to fit without lines.

But for now he was in the presence of Aya's young daughter instead of his own. Their natures were much different and that fascinated him, though he knew aspects of Parvarti's personality were being absorbed by the little android bit by bit, just as with the rest of their extended family. He wondered if he'd be able to handle two troublemakers and smirked softly at that thought.

He laughed softly at her playful expression, shaking his head in amusement and not even shooing her back to her seat when she complained of being bored and clutched at his shirt. He ignored the wrinkles and gave her a steady crimson gaze as she returned back to her seat, looking far more innocent and vulnerable than he could ever recall her being. She did look like her mother, despite that. His interest was caught and he leaned towards her, patiently letting her babble out her words before he even began to speak softly.

"I promise anything you tell me here I won't tell another living soul. Or Ilia." he nodded reassuringly. He would try and encourage her to continue at her own pace until he could make sense of it all. "Now, perhaps you'd like to tell me how you know that your berserker rage is not connected to your parents?" he probed softly, starting slow and hopefully simply. He could move on from there to the nature of the feelings it caused in her. Having his own bloodmadness to deal with even still he could empathise with her quite well and understand a large part of what she was going through. The exact nature of it, however, was a mystery for the time being. One he hoped he could help uncover and solve.

For while Kaori's clever collar contained the problem for the time being it was by no means a permanent solution, and somewhat difficult for the girl to bear he suspected. It would be much nicer to have things under control for herself, and perhaps along the way he could learn a few things himself that might prove of vital importance.

As he let her sit for a moment and collect her thoughts and words he leaned on his knees and strode across to the kitchen area in a few long strides, still in sight and earshot of her easily. Perhaps things could be easier to handle with if she had something to focus on with her hands. He often found a cup of coffee helpful, or a cigarette. Though he was avoiding the latter right now. A recently stubbed out butt lay evident in the ashtray on the coffee table, extinguished the moment Parvarti had entered the room.

He took just a couple of moments to tip a pack of cookies onto a plate and extract a large jug of sweet flavoured juice from the fridge. As an afterthought he placed a couple of chocolates and a fresh apple next to the cookies. Grabbing a pair of tall glasses he carried the selection through and set them down on the small table, inviting her to help herself as she wished. He poured himself a glass of the juice and nibbled slowly on a cookie as he turned his attention on her entirely.

Parvati nodded when he reassured her that whatever was mentioned in this room, would stay in this room. Mr. Silly never broke a promise to her before so she didn't doubt him now.

"Now, perhaps you'd like to tell me how you know that your berserker rage is not connected to your parents?"

Parvati shifted in her seat. Maybe she shouldn't have mentioned that little fact. She couldn't explain properly if she didn't tell him the whole story and she was a bit reluctant to divulge any information as to where she came from. For one thing, it might lead to a disaster in the near future. And another, her mother specifically told her to not say anything regarding her past but if she wanted to answer Mr. Silly's question, she had to tell him everything about her past.

She bit her bottom lip lightly when her uncle got up to grab some snacks. She frowned as she considered the pros and cons of giving him the information he wanted. Cons: she'd be disobeying her mother but since none of what will be said here would leave the room, it was safe to assume that her mother will not find out about it. Then again, her mommy had a lot of spies in place around the library, just roaming the halls and the walls. Pro's: the burden she carried would lighten and perhaps she'd get an ally in this quest of hers. Time was running out after all.

Nodding vehemently to herself, Parvati decided that the pro's outdid the cons. When Mr. Silly came back, Parvati took one chocolate but didn't eat it. Instead, she played with the wrapper and looked straight into Guyy's eyes.

"Uncle Guyy," she said. There was no Mr. Silly and no exhuberance in her voice. There was only one word with which to describe her tone: serious. It might get Mr. Silly's attention faster than Auntie Kaori's antics. Just maybe. Whatever his reaction, Parvati forged on ahead.

"I'll have to start from the very begining," she continued and took a deep breath before starting her story, "Have you ever heard of the Desert of Doors? It's an entity that is not alive but at the same time, has a mind of it's own. It shows itself to people who have the power to wield it and who have a purpose to strong enough to call to it. I don't know the depths of it's power but I do know that it is as ancient as gaia itself. It has the power to make worlds, grant wishes, and even allow someone to travel back in time."

She paused, letting the knowledge sink in. She put the chocolate back on the table and removed her sandals before she sat on the couch indian style. This was much better. Now that she was more comfortable, she continued with her tale.

"In the course of gaia's history, only three have ever been graced with such power. One was a man who desired to right his wrongs. His name is forever lost in the pages of history. In fact, there is absolutely no mention of him in any history book or magic book. Please pay attention to that fact because it is very important."

"The second is someone whom you are very familiar with. She is known within the Shinigami ranks as the Ice Queen. That's right. Mommy had been approached by the Desert of Doors. She was only seventeen then. She wanted to bring her twin sister back to life but decided against it at the last minute. Her morals proved stronger than her desire and she was able to walk away from the opportunity without a glance back. There is more to this story than what I've mentioned but you're going to have to ask mommy about it. I don't much about this incident either. But let's get back to my point. The point is, is that mommy is known. People remember her and there are still records of her existence in the library. It might not connect with the first man to wield the Desert of Doors but it will."

"And...you are staring at the third person to be approached by the Desert of Doors," she said as she grinned at him. No doubt he'd be quite surprised by her revalation, "remember what I told you? The Desert of Doors has the ability to open a portal to the past? I'm...I'm from nine years into the future Uncle Guyy."

She laughed sheepishly and scratched her head. "Apparently, my desire to meet mommy was a lot stronger than my morals."

He watched as the girl picked up a chocolate, not to eat however, she merely wanted to toy with the shining wrapper. She was weighing something up, he could see that in her eyes. She didn't have that icy blank expression her mother had perfected for moments like this, not yet anyway. Some day no doubt she would be as cool and collected. But what really caught his attention for now was the way she actually addressed him correctly. Very rare indeed.

He raised an eyebrow and nibbled on his cookie while she spoke, using the baked treat to mask his own serious and intent concentration on her words. He would never have suspected that her story was true, though he had heard vague whispers about the Desert of Doors. Some of the older and more baffling books referred to it in an entirely enigmatic fashion, to the point that this was the best description he had ever heard of it. Understandable, if she had really been approached by it. He didn't doubt her honesty in the slightest.

"Well, that would explain your somewhat unexpected appearance." he smiled softly at her, nodding to express the fact he was following everything with quiet curiosity. It did concern him that she mentioned the alarming tendency for those who let desire overcome morals to vanish from history. Aya, obviously, was still very much known about. But what about young Parvarti? What fate would she suffer? No wonder it worried her.

"That's quite a tale." he said, leaning back and polishing off what was left of the cookie thoughtfully. He was burning with questions about the Desert of Doors, his own quest for knowledge always bubbling within him. But right now they had other things to discuss, no doubt he could uncover information during the course of their conversation. And he could ask Aya more later too, though he'd have to do it without telling her too much about what Parvarti had spoken about. A promise was a promise.

"So, you think your rage may be connected to your... ahh... unique circumstances then?" he enquired gently, knowing the root of the problem must be near. And with the root, maybe the solution also.

"Well...yes but only because I'm from the future," she answered as she grabbed a small square pillow beside her and hugged it to her chest, "I wasn't born Uncle Guyy. I was created...like Ilia."

Parvati looked away from the head librarian and grabbed a cookie. She began nibbling on it, giving herself more time to phrase her words. For while she wanted to tell him the truth, she couldn't tell him everything. They might deviate from the events that would lead to the future. She nodded once she got the sentences together and continued with her explanation.

"You see, I'm a homunculus. An incomplete one. My daddy, Lord Caine Laqcuer, created me by using his and mommy's DNA but a problem occurred during the creation period and as a result, I gained an uncontrollable side."

She looked down to the floor as she finished her cookie. She'd been reluctant to eat earlier because of her training. Her daddy had told her numerous times to always be careful of what she ate. He gave her three very good reasons to do so.

Her body could react negatively to it.

Her soul had the chance of being taken away.

And it might be poisoned.

The last reason was why she took the cookie instead of the chocolate. Mr. Silly already ate one and he wouldn't dare poison himself...but...poison didn't work on him. Oops...she cringed as she thought about it. That was a major miscalculation on her part. Ah well. It's not like Mr. Silly would poison her. Still, her father would chastize her if he ever found out she had made such a huge mistake.

Well then! She just had to make sure he didn't find out!

Guyy raised an eyebrow at her statement she had been created like Ilia. "Not quite like her." he added, giving her a little nod of understanding. He knew far too well that she could not speak too much in detail about future events, for risk of damaging the current timeline. And for all he knew he could be involved in some way, perhaps the Chimera would offer some key to her growth. He had no idea, and found it best not to ask.

He watched her nibbling the cookie, oblivious to her turmoil about it and how she had been trained not to eat food. Not that there was a scrap of food in the library walls that would harm her. He was pretty strict about that in his own way. And he'd know instantly if anything he tasted was harmful to the others. So he would not be likely to mention it to Caine or Aya.

He leaned back in the chair and gave her a reassuring smile, letting her continue her tale at her own pace. Something similar had happened to the Chimera's minds, but for different reasons. They were, as far as he knew, complete. They were simply built for war and the rage was a side effect. It turned out the scientist's biggest failure with the Chimera was the fact they were actually very peaceful and intelligent at heart.

"The unexpected seems to happen a lot when it comes to playing with DNA." he sighed. He chuckled to himself inwardly. It was very like them to create a child using such methods instead of in the regular fashion just as his own son had been conceived. Of course she didn't know about that yet. In time.

He lifted his glass to his lips and took a long sip of the sweet liquid while he thought about it. If the problem was a genetic one, perhaps the solution would come if they could map out her genes and work out where things had gone wrong. Gene therapy might be the answer. They really needed access to better minds experienced with that. He gazed up at the ceiling for a moment, silently wishing for a moment his biological mother was still alive to offer advice. The woman had been a genius of a genetic scientist. They'd just have to do their best.
"How do you mean, incomplete?" he probed carefully, wondering if she even knew what was missing.

Parvati shrugged her small shoulders. She hadn't gotten that far yet with reading her mother's journal. Most of the terms were far too advanced for her to understand and it was written in code too. She spent hours just trying to read one page and Aya had a whole shelf full of those journals with each one having a different coding than the last. Her mother loved causing the people who wanted a look at her work terrible headaches.

She wondered how her daddy had been able to decipher the whole shelf by himself.

"All I know is that an anomaly occured during the final stages of my development and that a part of my psyche had been detached from me as a result. Louie was created to balance that part out and to a point, my cat is an effective stabalizer. But sometimes, when the imbalance is too much, I lose control."

Parvati scratched the back of her head and cocked it to the side. A pout had formed on her lips as she contemplated something. What was the use of this anyway? She wasn't going to stay in the past for very long. In fact, it would only be a few more months before that intersection in the timeline occured and she vanished back into the future...back into the place where her daddy never smiled and she only spent little time with her cousins.

It was depressing but she had known that her time here was limited when she asked for her desires to be granted. A glow in her left hand caught her attention. There was a circle on the back of her hand, casting a soft green glow. Of course, only she would be able to see this as it was not really on her hand. It was only in her mind. It was a reminder of her promise to the Desert of Doors. In exchange for her desires being granted, she'd have to do something in return. Something that when she first heard of it, was quite difficult to accomplish but neverthelss, it wasn't impossible. And was she not Caine Lacquer's daughter? She was always up for a challenge!

"Uncle Guyy, don't blame daddy. He really had no choice in the matter. He wouldn't have been able to have a child if he didn't do it."

Parvati sighed and her shoulders sagged as she thought about it. Being reminded of the past brought her down.

Guyy gave the girl a warm smile and nodded understandingly. It was a long shot that she would know the details, but it had been worth asking just in case there had been a major clue there. "I see." he said thoughtfully as he leaned back against the cushions. So, the cat was no mere companion after all. That was interesting, certainly. He absently rubbed Myurr between his ruby eyes, causing the snake to blink and stretch along his arm contentedly.

His own scarlet eyes lowered to meet Parvarti's mismatched pair as she spoke up. He ducks his head for a moment, a smile on his lips when he looked back up. "I don't blame him in the slightest. He has done nothing wrong, certainly not if you are the result." he grinned, leaning forward to ruffle her hair fondly. "You're more like Ilia than I think you realise." he grinned. It was curious that Caine had difficulty procreating, but that was a personal matter for the man. Perhaps it may come up in conversation sometime with him, but he knew better than to probe deeply into such intimate concerns.

The girl was obviously upset about something, probably the situation as a whole. This couldn't be easy for her at all. She was a unique child and suffered from a curse she shouldn't be forced to, especially at such a tender young age. At least he had the grace of age to gain a little experience before he had been forced to confront his own rage. Even now it frightened him a little to know it still lurked somewhere inside him. He had not been sealed from it like she had.

"So we know the source of the rage at least. An inherent flaw in your design." he nodded. "It is the same for me, though the origin is a little different. I am not, as far as I know, missing anything. In fact my trouble stems from the fact I have too much extra. I believe. The papers were incomplete, the scientists never got a chance to... ah... further study me." he grimaced a little, glossing over the fact that had it not been for his mother making up an excuse about studying his psychological development he would have been merely discarded and examined. He moved on from that subject, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Have you lost control like that before then?" he asked curiously, resting his elbow on the arm of his chair and leaning his chin on his palm. His free hand turned the glass he held on his knee in an idle motion. "Perhaps in varying degrees of emotion? Or is this the first time it's really taken control of you?"

Parvati visibly brightened when her uncle ruffled her hair. He really was nice, despite the many rumors about him that said otherwise. Now she can fully understand as to why her mother was always so protective of her lord. The Ice Queen's daughter shuddered when she thought of what might happen if he was left to his own devices. He'd probably get a toothache from all the sweets he ate!

She nodded, determination filling her eyes, and unknowingly answering Mr. Silly's question about her previous losses of control. She hadn't been listening to him really. She's actually stopped hearing him after he'd said that she was more like Ilia than she originally thought she was.

Right! Back to taking care of Mr. Silly. His sugar intake would have to be limited. And the smoking! Hmm...perhaps she could enlist Ilia's assistance on that one. Yes. The android would definitely help her with that one. But Ilia always obeyed Mr. Silly. Parvati was going to pull some serious maneuvers with her manipulative skills to pull this one off. And it would probably be the third most difficult thing she was going to do. The first was the Desert of Doors' deal. The second was deciphering her mother's journals.

"...really taken control of you?"

Parvati blinked, mind completey blank. What were they talking about again?

She graced him was a cute and sheepish smile.

"Uhm...could you repeat that question Mr. Silly?"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 04, 2008 3:53 am

Guyy paused when she asked for a repeat of the question. He had noticed her eyes glazing over a bit, but had presumed she had merely been concentrating and thinking about the matter at hand. he shook his head and laughed softly. Clearly, she had not been. Whatever had been on her mind had certainly been distracting. Fortunately he didn't even guess at what she had been pondering, he might have been mortified at the idea of her roping Ilia in to rid him of his precious poisonous habit.

He folded his arms over his chest and gave her a mock chastising expression, rolling his eyes a little. "So you don't get everything from your mother then." he smirked. She would never have stood for such distraction. "I asked if this was the first time your rage has ever taken such control of you, or if it was your first time experiencing it? Maybe you have felt it before, but not as strongly?" he reiterated. He had no idea if she had been nodding in response to his question, as he had thought, or if it had been an automatic response to him talking.

He reached down and tugged at his laced, kicking his shoes off and letting them bounce underneath the table. His long legs stretched out, heels on the wooden surface. Perhaps it was messy and a little too casual, but it was his home and he felt quite comfortable with the girl, despite the nature of their little chat. Besides, he doubted she would mind much. He lowered himself in the chair comfortably as he watched her, waiting for a reply.

At the stern look, Parvati visibly shrunk. Like any other kid, she was easily cowed into obedience with a simple stern look from those that she considered older, wiser, and generally knew better than she did. She didn’t even notice that her uncle was just teasing her.

“Ah…hahaha…sorry Uncle Guyy,” Parvati said as she scratched the back of her head, truly really sorry about her lack of attention, “I’ll be more focused from now on.”

She cocked her head to the side as her silly uncle kicked away his shoes and generally relaxed. She shrugged and did the same thing, imitating him to the point of copying his very stance. As an after thought, she grabbed the apple and began munching on it, ignoring her training about food altogether. This was Mr. Silly! He wouldn't poison her. And fruits were always good for her. These were her main source of energy. If she had to, she'd only eat one orange and survive for three days and nights without drinking or eating anything else.

"Uhm...no. This was not the first time," she replied suddenly remembering what her father had told her when she first became 'aware'. The moments he had opened her eyes, she gone wild and uncontrollable. She had destroyed half of the lab before her father was able to stop her and probe her mind to calm her down, "as far as I know, everytime I become enraged, it's the same same thing. I get trapped in my mind while something tries to eat me alive."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 05, 2008 1:02 pm

"Hn." Guyy replied to her apology, relaxing back against the chair and smirking to himself. He knew she wouldn't do it again now that she'd been caught. Her instantly apologetic manner and bashful reply was endearing in its own way and he nodded, grinning widely to silently assure her there'd be no punishment for it. Aside from his own amusement.

It took him a moment to realise that she was mimicking his pose, whether it was intentional or not. He laughed softly, chuckling beneath his breath and taking it as a sort of compliment. She and Ilia really did have a lot of similarities. He'd lost count of the amount of times he'd look up to see the little blond mirroring him, or Kaori or even Parvarti sometimes. Or anyone nearby. Luckily she looked young enough people just took it as playful behaviour and overlooked it.

The crunch of the apple as the girl bit into it resounded in the air pleasantly. He always made sure to buy the crunchiest, juiciest and sweetest apples. Their apartment was never without a wide selection of fruit. He sipped at his juice as she spoke, nodding at intervals. Setting his glass down on the table next to him he ran a hand through his hair, pushing it back from his face.

"Every time you become enraged? Tsch." He shook his head. His rage was troublesome. Hers was just unfair on her. "It must take a lot of effort to keep yourself calm sometimes. I noticed that it was Ilia's coolant that set you off this time. Blood is often a trigger, is it?" he asked with curiosity.

Parvati nodded in reply, munching some more on the apple. It was really good. Maybe she should visit her uncle's place more often and raid their fridge? Then again, the Lacquer family's fridge was always so well stocked too. There wasn't much point in going here just to snack on their food...except maybe if she tried to break in. Now that was an idea! Parvati's face brightened as she thought about the possibilities. She'd get to train her lock picking skills! And maybe her stealth skills as well because the latter really needed some work. For the life of her, she just couldn't keep her mouth shut.

...

But this place had no locks she could pick...maybe she could develop some sort of magic for that?

Right! Focus!

She cocked her head to the side and looked at Mr. Silly. She'd better answer his question more thoroughly.

"Well there's no effort involved. It's silent and is quite dormant if it isn't triggered. But when it is triggered, either by blood or by some other means, though I'm not really sure there is another way to trigger it and it hasn't been tested out yet and OKAY!" Parvati said as she sat up straighter. She was babbling again.

"I will get back to the subject!" she said with her fist in the air. Quickly, she brought it down and resumed her relaxed stance on the couch, "Uhm..lemme see...when my rage is triggered, I lose all control of myself. Kind of like a second personality but it's not really a second personality because it was originally a part of me so...yeah."

She laughed nervously. She didn't know if she'd just made it a lot more confusing for her uncle. She wasn't as articulate as her mother and more often than not, her thought pattern was far too fast for her mouth to keep up with. It was the reason as to why sometimes, others couldn't understand her sentences.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 06, 2008 7:42 am

Guyy chuckled. She was obviously wandering away on yet another mental tangent. He didn't have the heart to chastise her (though perhaps it might be worth mentioning her attention issues to Aya or Caine. Perhaps her creation had written in a form of attention deficit). He shook his head as she resolved to stay on track with such enthusiasm and determination, a broad smile turning up the corners of his lips.

"I see. So it's triggered suddenly then. You don't have to worry about most regular emotions being a source for the rage and lack of control. The triggers are specific, if not yet entirely defined yet." he nodded, his hand resting on his chin as he considered it. With specific triggers it would be easier to avoid those situations for a while. Perhaps it might even work to gradually introduce them to her in small doses and thus build up a sort of mental resistance. That would be dangerous.

"So basically, you become a sort of berserker. It is you, and your powers, but so enraged that you feel as if you are an outsider observing yourself." he nodded, following her despite her erratic nature. "It's just part of you in highly concentrated form."

He smiled as she laughed nervously, moving a little so he could sit up a bit. "Well this is all very informative and interesting. Do you know when it is happening? Is there any warning or is it like turning on a switch?" he was most curious about that. If she could feel it building, then perhaps she could learn to control it and focus it in a more productive manner.

((Edited it a little. I think it's a lot more fun this way. mrgreen ))

"So basically, you become a sort of berserker. It is you, and your powers, but so enraged that you feel as if you are an outsider observing yourself. It's just part of you in highly concentrated form."

"Uhm...I guess so but the records say that I've never used magic whenever I go berserk. Maybe it's because magic needs some form of concentration? But then again, since I'm in rage, there's no form of control so logically, my magic should have been shooting off like fireworks."

Parvati frowned as she considered this. Why hadn't her enraged self used magic? Her magic should be stronger in that stage, certainly stronger than her physical blows, because there was no control whatsoever. She sighed as she wriggled her toes. She was comming up with nothing and it was frustrating because like her mother, she hated it when she didn't know something about herself. And, again like her mother, she doubled her efforts at finding the cause of the problem.

She shook her head at the second question. "There's no warning Mr. Silly. It's just 'POOF'!" she said as she quickly clapped her hands once and spread them wide open, as if she was releasing some sort of smoke, "I go crazy."

Before she could go back to thinking about her previous assumption, her black cat had come in through the roof...literally. The furball had turned ethereal and dropped down onto the coffee table. During the course of it's fall, it turned back into it's physical form and quietly landed on the coffee table, right next to the cookies. It looked first at Guyy and inclined its head as if in greeting before turning to Parvati. It 'meowed'.

"WHAT?" Parvati exclaimed unable to believe what she had just heard.

Louie repeated what it said and the girl scowled as she crossed her arms and looked away, obviously miffed.

"No."

There was no sound from the cat but whatever it said, it reached Parvati's ears and the girl jumped up from her relaxed pose to stand and glare at her cat. Her hands were at her hips and a small pout was on her lips. Her aura changed a little, indicating that she was getting really angry.

"No!"

"Meow!"

"I said NO!"

The cat merely swung it's tail threateningly and Parvati ran away from it. She took cover behind Mr. Silly's chair and glared above his shoulder at her pet. She shook her head a 'no' and the cat stalked forward, gracefully avoiding the food items on the table.

"Mr. Silly!" Parvati whined, "Louie's trying to get me to take a nap. But I don't wanna! And besides, our talk is a lot more important than some borning nap!"

She didn't know what complaining to her uncle would accomplish but if there was a chance she could escape her afternoon nap, then she'd take it. It was so boring! And she wasn't even tired! If anything, she was quite energized because of that apple she ate earlier. But the cat would not have it! Parvati was going to take her nap whether she liked it or not! The Lady Aya would have it's head if it let it's young charge go without following her scheduled rest.
