I dont know if this should go in any of the stickys...beat me with a stick if it does...
Today I found out what im having...its going to be a boy... whee
and I have 3 more weeks to go...so im glad i found out now...
now my question for parents and non parents alike...which do you think is easier to raise and why?
I personally think it would be easier to raise a girl then a boy because i guess being a girl myself lets me connect with them easier...

I think it depends on the personality of the child it self. Some little boys are wonderous children, some are hellions. Some little girls are innocent angels while others a wild-sprites.
Either way.. hellion or angel when their yours you love 'em regardless.
(No I don't actually have kids, but I take care of enough... razz )

The only reason most girls are "high-maintinance" is because mothers and family members go crazy buying them all the cute little girly stuff. (Which usually spoils them.) New mothers usually think they have to buy their baby girl all the latest cute stuff. They don't.
My mother said the only real difference between boys and girls is potty training. She said the my sister and I were easier to train. And that it was difficult to teach my little brother. The reason being, because he was too short to stand and pee, he had to first be taught to sit and pee. Then when he was tall enough (maybe a year later), my father taught him to stand and pee. LoL (Kind of cute now that I think about it.)
It honestly depends on how you raise them though. Everyone is different.
By the way: Congratulations!

It's funny because we hear it all the time in the GPG someone will say "I thought my little girl was wild and THEN I had my boy."
I do know my mother said I was easy I didn't get into anything more than twice I potty trained really easy (as did my little girl). But my BROTHER. OMG you would not believe the amount of pictures of him from the age of 1 to 10 where he is just COVERED in something, fireplace soot, spaghetti, glitter, SOMETHING he got into. He was just ALWAYS dirty always getting into something.
My brother cut up his stuffed animals and tore apart his cars and trucks. He's not some kind of psycho it's just what he did, checking out what was inside, what made it run.
And my brother's son is a little tank himself, he's one and he dive bombs my daughter barreling her over, tackling, picking up everything and using it as a bat, chucking toys and laughing as loudly and as much as he can as they rattle to the ground. And he's a WELL behaved little one year old. It's just what he does.
I would say Little toddler girls IN GENERAL are easier to deal with, however, I'm sure there are just as many little toddler girls out there chucking their toys into the wall and running all over the couch and smearing spaghetti into their hair on purpose.

Well I have a little boy from what I have heard and through my own experience they are easier to take care of as babies harder to take care of as little kids and way easier to take care of then girls as teenagers my son is 3 he is rebeling big time. I have heard girls are sweeter and gentler when they are babies but they get sick easier with things like yeast infections.

I think it reallydepends on the child. Children are all unique individuals. However ithink the whole "mama's boy"/"daddy's girl" thing usually applies (as long as there are two parents) It seems that boys get along better with their mothers and girls better with their fathers. Also teenager girls seem to fight with their mothers a lot. But teenage boys do more reckless dangerous things. Ifi ever have a child i hope it's a boy...

it all depends on how you raise them if u teach them to be nice and stuff they would be both good children so i dont think it matters about gender..

Through my experience babysitting and being in school, I think that boys are easier to raise.
They are much scarier as little kids. They tend to get into more scraps and can get pretty hurt (I can just imagine the heart attack my mother-in-law had when my 6-year-old fiance fell off a roof and broke both his legs, an arm, and crushed one of his spinal disks). They also run the risk of getting very aggressive in their teens.
On the other hand, girls tend to be much more expensive to raise. They often demand more and more expensive clothes, things like that. As soon as they hit their teens, there's the whole rebellion thing. And, of course, there's all the pregnancy scares and that sort of stuff. There's also the anamia stuff and all the self-esteem issues.
I guess it's fairly even. I would rather have a boy when the time comes, but I would be happy with either. I guess it just depends on you as a parent and the child him/herself.

~Teh.Pimp.Daddy~ I have eating problems, it's not just girls.... I know it's not just girls. But it is more likely for girls. A much higher percentage of girls have eating disorders than guys. That being said, I do realize that it's changing and changing fast.
