"No one but her Heard as the outcast hears. Shamed into solitude Shunned by the multitude I learned to listen In my dark, my heart heard music. I longed to teach the world Rise up and reach the world No one would listen I alone could hear the music Then at last, a voice in the gloom Seemed to cry "I hear you; I hear your fears, Your torment and your tears." She saw my loneliness Shared in my emptiness No one would listen No one but her Heard as the outcast hears No one would listen No one but her Heard as the outcast hears... " i found a new song on youtube that they didn't put in the movie. here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1xHirK4k5Uit explains why Erik loves Christine.

I'm glad they didn't put it into the movie. It makes Erik sound even more whiny and emo than he already is in the movie.
Plus, I just personally don't like the song itself at all.
Huh, I thought there was already a thread about this but I can't find it so I guess not.

You just now found it? O_o That's been around for a long time. I think it's even on the DVD as an extra.
I don't like the song, personally. It doesn't fit Erik's personality well.

When I saw it on the DVD for the 2004 movie, before I was really into any other versions, I thought it would be an epic add. *shrugs* I guess it fits Gerik, but not the stage, Leroux, Kay, Yeston, or any other Phantoms (except, maybe, PoM's Phantom). My thoughts anyway. And I don't much care for the song anymore (lyrics and voice, anyway-I would LOVE it if ALW released the credits music for the movie, the instrumental LTBL/NOWL is something I would LOVE to add to my music collection).

Learn to be Lonely was put on the movie's soundtrack CD. Just an FYI.

It's an alright song, but Gerik was already pathetic enough without a song that basically says "Woe is me".

If they added that to the movie they just might as well rename it "Emo of the Opera". Its a whiny my-life-is-so-terrible cliche piece of lyrics, that seems to be something more out of a depressing teen boy band group than that of Broadway material. It takes away depth of character, it ruins (although in the movies they did a good job of it anyway) the Phantom's character. As though the acting wasn't bad enough, they made this. Its alright. I heard its to be part of the sequel. Crap with crap, how fitting.

It makes his character look rather weak, I think.
It was also a really pathetic attempt to win an award for best original song since they couldn't have entered any of the songs from the stage version.

I think it's really cheesy (song and video). It really makes me want to tell Gerry to stop singing.
Isn't there already a thread like this in the music subforum, The Organ Room?

There is, but hardly anyone ever uses them anymore. Shame, considering all the work I put into organizing them and writing the rules. XP
