Bear led the way into the Infirmary, running at full-speed and running into one of the beds before he was able to stop. Panting, he leaned on his knees and pointed out into the hall to show that he was okay but others were coming.

Jasper stalked through five minutes later, carrying the bleeding girl - whom he had not yet been told a name - into the infirmary. He gave a grateful nod at the boy - who, also, he had not yet learned a name - and gingerly laid the girl across one of the beds.

One of the nurses heard the commotion and walked in. After seeing the panting boy who was on the bed, the boy who was standing, and the girl who was laying unconscious on the bed, she immediately went to work.
"Are you two ok?" She asked Bear and Jasper as she walked next to the bed, pulling out antiseptic, cotton balls, and bandages from a nightstand that was next to the bed. She immediately began cleaning the wound, making sure it was clean before she bandaged the wound. She couldn't help but notice that the girl had plenty of wounds on her arms. Shaking her head, she continued her task. It was quite a pity. All these kids, so young, yet already had such a hard life behind and in front of them.

Bear nodded to the nurse, but then saw the all of the blood and wounds, and felt the blood drain from his face. He didn't want to look at it anymore, but he found himself unable to look away. "I'm gonna puke," he decided, making his way to the Infirmary's bathroom.

"First door to the right." She directed him as she gently placed the girl's arm back down. "She'll be alright. She'll need to eat as soon as she wakes up." She murmured quietly. "Will you watch over her if I go run to get her some food from the cafeteria?" she asked Jasper as she put away the supplies.

After shrugging off the nurses first question - he was busy staring at the poor boy who was shy of blood - he came to his senses. "Yes, ma'am. I'll be here."

"Thanks. I'll be back in a few minutes." The nurse said before she took off out of the infirmary.
A little bit after the nurse left, Katherine groaned a little, coming to her senses. Blinking her eyes, she awoke, trying to figure out what had happened. "What...what happened?" She asked.

Jasper peered into the girl's face. She was incredibly... pretty.
He gulped. "You... bled... and passed out," he managed to choke out. "Me and this other guy brought you here. The nurse should be back with some food, soon."

Bear came out of the bathroom a few minutes later, wiping his mouth with the back of a shaky hand. He stopped and blinked in the doorway, staring at the girl. "She's awake," he said as if the girl weren't in the room, almost feeling a bit angry at her. Why did she get to live when his Girl had to die?

Katherine nodded, trying to think of why she would be bleeding. Then it hit her like a freight train. She was in her room. She felt abandoned. She cut herself. She had run out of the room, desperate to live. These points in her head kept ringing and ringing until she grimaced and put her head into her hands, as if that physical motion would be able to push the thoughts away. "I see.." She murmured as she looked around. "Um..do you know where she kept the bandages?" She asked Jasper. She saw Bear in the background and heard him. Hearing his voice made her shiver a little, scared to see someone like this. She hoped that he wouldn't do anything to harm her.
Ha. Your pathetic hopes. Why do you even bother? The voice in her head asked. No one wants you. No one loves you. Why do you keep hoping?
"SHUT UP!" Katherine screamed, her breath quickening as she pushed the voice away, sending it back into the depths of her mind. She took a few moments to calm down, before she asked Jasper a quiet question, but one that would mean much to her.
"Why did you bother?"

Jasper paled. He put a finger up, and busied himself looking for bandages. He needed time to think.
What did she mean 'why did he bother'? Why wouldn't he? He couldn't see himself just standing there while she bled all over the tile, reaching out for his pant leg or just slipping into cold dead silence.
And she was pretty. But he couldn't let that be his reasoning. He'd barely met the girl.
The world was full of bad things; Jasper knew it just as well as the next person. And if there was room for so many bad things, there had to be room for a few good things. And he assumed that saving someone's life could count as a good thing.
Then - he did it for himself?
He found the bandages. That could be as good an answer as any. As he bent over her and gingerly took her arm to wrap the bandage around it, he whispered, "I'm a bad person. I'm a bad person trying to do good things. I just want to... change. Redeem myself before it's too late. You shouldn't think that you deserve to die."
Those were the most words he had said to anyone since he arrived at Wales three months ago. Ironic.

Katherine moved her arm gently, indicating to him silently that the wound had already been bandaged by the nurse. She was taking the bandages in case she decided to cut herself once again. She quickly hid them in the pocket of her jeans, in case the nurse came back soon. Looking at him, she listened to what he had to say. Sighing afterward, she shook her head. "Maybe. Maybe not. Thank you for saving me today though." She told him with a tiny smile.

Jasper furrowed his brow when he saw her put the bandages away, frowning. But he didn't say anything. He nodded in response to her gratitude, but he felt sad, somehow.
And he felt tension coming from behind him - the boy.

Katherine sighed as she got up from the bed, wobbling a little as she stood up. "Whoa." She murmured, the blood loss was getting to her. She stumbled into the nightstand, grasping the edges to hold herself up. "Ugh."
