The wind rippled the serpentine pattern on this she-wolf's back as she strode from the land of sin. Piper's territory... Gomorrah.
A shudder ran down her spine.
It was only two years ago that she'd lost her brother, Laos. She'd been separated...or perhaps she'd wandered too far away. She was young and stupid. There wasn't a day in the past where she didn't blame herself for being in this situation.
Only two years since that wolf Tabansi had brought her here. "I'll take you home," he'd assured her, only to lead her here and say "surprise!"...
Two years since he'd used her, because she couldn't say no. Two years since she'd learned under the warrior, Ziva. Two years since a litter of pups born into Sin were birthed. And one of those pups was the alpha.
An alpha who she knew was planning her mother's defeat. Either leave Gomorrah or die.
And Gerda was more than happy to leave. It would just wait until the day that she was kicked out and declared a 'loner'. She couldn't leave Sikittol alone.
So day in and day out, she paced the border, hoping to see a familiar face or two but it never happened. So here she was again.

Tauro had been running for one whole day, but her mind had lost the concept of time; it simply replayed the events that had occurred twenty-four hours ago.
She had been hungry. Wandering, alone, her food options were limited; she had started a ground squirrel and pinned it by the tail. Ready to crush its skull, she stopped when the shaking animal spoke.
"Please don't kill me, lady; I give you something you want, ya?"
She laughed. "Alright; tell me where my sister is."
"Who your sister look like, lady?"
"A white wolf," Tauro answered. "White with a gray dragon on her back."
And, to her surprise, the squirrels eyes had lit up. "Ya, ya, your sister, she lives on the border of the pack; is not far from here. Go east, you find it."
Startled, Tauro had released the squirrel without realizing it. She did not consider that the animal would lie. The information had come quickly, and the presence of a nearby pack was not news to Tauro. But the fact that Gerda could be so close…
She ran, the scent of other wolves growing stronger by the minute; froth spilled from her mouth as she panted, but she was a wolf. This was nothing unusual. Approaching the border, she threw back her head to howl, not considering that the pack might not welcome here. Her sister would hear.

The mute-colored wolf lay down right at the edge. Behind her lay a forest, behind that lay a field of dens. Piper wouldn't be close and even if she was, Gomorrah was vast. It would take her awhile. Plus she had Gimpy to slow her down...
Days were blending together. Gerda couldn't tell you what day it was, what year it was. No pun intended. She truly didn't know. She was a lost soul and she'd been one since she'd been taken advantage of by Tabansi...
She'd turned to head back to the dens, as clouds were beginning to swirl in the skies above, threatening rain. A strange season this was... Rain in summer.
But that's when she heard it.
Her heart stopped dead and she lifted her muzzle to the wind, tasting it.
She knew that voice... She knew it!
An inner voice told her repeatedly, 'don't get your hopes up' but they were flying like a rocket as she galloped away from the border and towards where the howl came from, wanting terribly to cry a reply back.

Laos was alone, and quite frankly, it bothered him. Silence was bearable with company, but when there was not even the illusion of sound, and the air was devoid of fodder for auditory delusions, that was torture.
And yet, it was self-inflicted torture, so there was no one to blame or rage against aside from himself. He was the one who had chosen, for some reason unknown to any but perhaps his subconscious, to set away from the others for a stroll. The stroll had become a walk, then transgressed into a hike, and finally degraded into a wandering. Now he was alone, in the middle of the forest, with no tangible purpose or direction - or even a sense of the latter.
That is, until he picked up the scent. It was faint, but detectable, and out of lack of anything better to do, he followed it until it was identifiable. Tauro. What was his sister doing out? Alone, none the less?
Laos's interest was piqued, to say the least. Deciding to do some good, old-fashioned annoying-brother spying, he chased after her scent until he was almost close enough to see her. He remained behind, though, simply taking advantage of his downwind position and following as quietly as possible. Of course, he had no accurate perception of however much of his progress was audible, seeing as he could not perceive even the loudest of sounds, much less those of a quieter variety. To him, everything was quiet.
Even the traumatized looking squirrel he passed, who gave the appearance of screaming at Laos's materialization.

The two females were in their prime, and they were both running towards a prize they had long awaited: their own meeting. When Gerda came into view, Tauro nearly faltered, but instead she redoubled her speed, lowering her head and streamlining her body. Collision seemed almost inevitable, and Tauro did not try to avoid it. She barreled into Gerda without slowing, with enough force to potentially knock her over, only stopping as she overshot and stumbled. Turning, she looked upon her sister with a grin. "Gerda!" she panted. "You're found!" Perhaps needless information, but some she felt like giving.
She approached her sister and nuzzled her neck, as though they had never been separated. She said no more; Gerda could not respond, anyway, and after her initial outburst, words escaped her.

A familiar-pelted wolfess was coming at her at top speed. Although mute, she was hardly blind or deaf; she knew the possibilities of this wolf being an enemy, coming at her to take out a Gomorrah member. It was a high probability...other than the fact that she'd heard her sister's howl. That was the only reason she wasn't turning tail and taking off home. Er...well to where she resided, as it wasn't truly home.
She became more and more excited as the wind from her sister's overshot fluffed her fur. The white femme spun on Tauro, tail wagging a mile a minute, ears pricked and a grin on her maw as she made little uttering sounds. Her jaws went to work nibbling at her sister's face and muzzle, nipping an ear fondly, catering to the she-wolf's face like a mother would.
Yes. She was found.
But had it taken too long?

"Gerda, Gerda!" Tauro sang finally, though her sister could answer. It didn't matter; the communication they shared then was purely tactile. She returned Gerda's ministrations with her own, rubbing against her and finding their scents mingled.
"Is this where you have stayed? With this pack? Why aren't they near? Can I meet them? Oh, Gerda, what about your pups? I know you have at least one daughter…" She looked imploringly to her sister for answers, knowing that she could not respond verbally. But really, what did that matter, between family?
