Home Life : Matt's family lives outside of Manchester, England. His is a two-story home situated on the side of a sharply rising cliff overlooking the small town of Glossop, near Hollingworth, up in the mountains.

His mother is Judy Langley, an American beauty with curly brown hair framing a kind and pretty face set with hazel eyes. She's the owner of a shop further into town that sells tailored suits to visiting foreigners. His father died some years ago in a car accident.

His younger brother by a year, James is a tall young rip with hair like his mother's, long, curly, and brown. His eyes, however, are a little less orthodox: brown with light blue flecks. He's a humorous child that has picked up only slightly on the locals' accent. He has not, strangely enough, developed any magical ability at all.

Diving deeper :
Matt is usually quiet, more introverted than his mother or brother. But if you can break past the surface, you'll find a personable young man with a slightly romantic and uncontrollable side. He has an average intelligence, a large, if misguided vocabulary, and a definite competitive side. He never backs down from a challenge, which has put him in some serious trouble. Still, if a friend is in need, he's a friend indeed.

Taking a closer look : Matt closed the book, marking the page, and yawned. It was still raining outside. He looked out the window, watched the drops pound against the glass, felt the light waver against him. He placed his forehead on the glass and looked down upon the green hills rolling down to Glossop. He could see cars, like ants, rolling along the streets and depositing their cargo into the drenching rain. He sighed, heard a tea pot whistle in the kitchen downstairs, heard his brother sneeze in the room across the hall. He looked back to his book. As the fog on the window dissipated, he read and re-read the title of the book: Magic and its Uses. Matt's breath caught, and once again he was swept back to the towers and halls of Hogwarts, and he couldn't wait for the new year to begin.
