Mafunde lie under the shade of a tree as he looked out to the horizon. He let out a soft yawn as he watched the sun set. his tail twitched behind him as he watched. His gray eyes looked for any sign of movement in the distance, half hoping he would see a familiar yellow figure running towards him. He had been thinking a lot when she left. But after hearing how her babysitting experience went, he wondered if she would ever come back. He hoped he would. He had so much to tell her. But would she be willing to listen?

After a drawn out and confusing conversation with herself, a small hunt, and a lot of procrastination Kohana had decided to return to Mafunde. She wanted to admit her little spark of feeling for him, how she didn't want to loose him as a friend, and how she wanted to get a chance to make him a part of her life somehow.
He had given her much to think about and in a strange frustrated way she was grateful to him. The experience of baby sitting made her realize that she might someday wish for cubs of her own to nurture and raise. All in all he had been the one to open her eyes to a world of possibilities she had always run right past.
This time she ran and ran but she stopped, she stopped and smiled. "Hello Mafu..." Her tone was breathless and happy as usual but had lost the carefree indifference she usually had when speaking to anyone.

The sudden voice behind him made him jump. He had not even heard paws on the ground behind him. He quickly stood and spun around in an attack position, the recognition of the voice not registering in the split second he acted.
"Kohana.." He said with a smile as he sighed in relief, both glad to see her and glad that he hadn't gone any farther in her attack. He relaxed a bit, sitting down on his haunches. "It's so good to see you. What brings you out here?" he asked. He was horrible at small talk and hoped that it lasted long. He wasn't exactly sure what words he would pick to tell her what was going on inside of him.

She laughed at his posture at first, she hadn't meant to startle him at all. "Going to attack little old me?" She smiled and slipped closer to sit beside him.
"I came to say hi Mafu, is that okay?" She grinned and continued with her teasing trying to hide her nervousness now that she had discovered how much she lo-liked his company. "Of course if you don't want me here I can run off, you know how fast I am." She smirked softly and sprawled beside him on her side certain he wouldn't send her away.

"No!" He quickly placed his paw on hers as if to stop her fro leaving, though the fact that she was lying down didn't stop him from taking her paw. "No..." He repeated softly and looked into her emerald green eyes.
After a few moments, he realized that his paw was still on hers and he quickly took it off, returning it to his side. He looked away, his face feeling flush. "I uh... I mean you don't have to go..." This was ridicules.

She laughed softly, then felt heat creep into her cheeks as his paw remained on hers. The feeling was nice, she liked it, she liked him. She had managed to admit it to herself, why then could she not repeat the words out loud for him?
Kohana knew she was afraid, afraid that he would reject her. She had spent so long alone, it seemed so easy to go back to her life the way it had been, yet it ached to think of her solitary existence after having shared time with this male.
"I won't go..." She smiled at him trying to work up to some talk of her feelings. "I like it here with you."

His ears swiveled towards her as his head followed, a child like expression on his face. "I was hoping you would stay." He said with a smile. "I like it when your here too." He looked down to his paws, "I really like you." He felt terrible. What was he a cub? I like you? What was he thinking?! His feelings were much stronger than that. But could he tell her?

She smiled brightly and leapt up her paws on his shoulders. "I like you to Mafunde...I...I really really like spending time with you!" She was breathless now, joyful of her declaration.
She laughed and leapt to his side "I guess I was holding that in..."

He laughed lightly, almost holding his breath as he thought a little. "I... I feel the same way." He said as he leaned forward and licked her cheek lightly.
His child like expression was replaced with a new found love. He wrapped his tail around hers, and he let a soft purr come from his throat. He leaned forward again and rubbed his forehead against hers, his eyes closed. "Will you stay with me Kohana?" He asked in a whisper

"If you'll let me stay I'll never run away...." She murmured and nodded softly against his head, rubbing her own with his. She purred and snuggled against him happily feeling a serene emotion wash over her. She had never felt so calm, it was as if her blood had cooled.
Yet the peace in her veins soon warmed, the purring, the snuggling soon her blood was boiling, but not for a run.

He smiled, "So you'll stay with me forever?" He asked as he sat back and looked back into her deep emerald eyes again, his own stormy eyes swirling with emotions. Mafunde placed his paw back onto hers.
"Can I show you something?" He asked with a smile, "It's my favorite spot in these lands, no one else knows about it but me." He smiled as he slowly stood and slowly helped her up.

"If you want me forever, forever I'm yours." She murmured and stood following him at a casual pace, for once she was not in a hurry. Her mind was calm and she felt as if she were floating without reason, only feeling.
Was this love? She smiled as Mafunde led her to his secret spot to show her if it was indeed.
