 The sun had passed its zenith a few hours past, and was now sinking closer and closer to the horizon. Big, fluffy white clouds dotted the pale blue sky, and a gentle breeze toyed with the long grass and the branches on trees. Overall, it was a nice day. The temperature had soared closer to midday, but had cooled off with the introduction of the cool breeze. Kin-Sora was restless, and stood in the middle of a small meadow. The tall grass tickled her legs as it swayed, which only intensified the urge to gallop, or prance, or something. The mare had no direction, no pressing need to be anywhere, see anyone, or do anything specific. If there was an adventure to be had, she'd be gone in a heartbeat -- but nothing exceptionally exciting and/or thrilling had presented itself to her over the course of the day. With a heavy sigh, Kin-Sora dropped to her knees and resigned herself to simply lounging, and munching on the sweet grass in the meadow. What a boring day.

 Zillzee was walking around in circles, trampling the grass flat as she went. She had nothing else to do otherwise. Too far from the lake to swim, and too far from everyone else to socialize with. Heck, it's even too early for the interesting bugs and beasts to come out. The occasional butterfly and bumblebee that passed by didn't interest her much. She had seen too many of them during the course of the day to feel like interacting with them.
The mare pausing in her walking and bent down to sample some of the grass. It was bland. Like everything so far. She scowled and was about to continue the stroll before a quick movement caught her eye.
A mouse! She hadn't seen one of those yet today! Without another thought, she chased after the rodent. She would've ordinarily glided past it without any effort, but she slowed herself down to keep up with it. So concentrated in the little animal, she didn't notice another cream colored mare nearby.

Without anything else interesting going on, Kin-Sora was close to dozing off. The intermittent cries of avians and other beasts pierced the dead-silent air with increasing annoyance to the mare, until finally, she pulled her head up with a scowl. "Fine. I won't nap, then," she said with a snort, tossing her short and clipped mane. Turning her eyes skywards, Kin-Sora let her attention wander to the clouds. They passed by slowly, drifting as if pushed along by a lazy and patient stream of air. "How can anything more that slow?" She asked no one in particular, though her voice was loud and clear. Shaking her head, unable to come up with an answer for the slow pace of clouds, she let her eyes fall away from the sky. There was no point in wondering about those types of unanswerable questions. She wasn't the scholarly or studious type; Kin-Sora preferred to go on adventures, and do daring things!
But, today was just so boring. Just about to groan aloud, Kin-Sora was ready to lay her head back down and force herself to just lay there until nightfall, then sleep. Her thoughts led her to think that tomorrow would be a better, and more interesting day. But -- things seemed to perk up! A chittering and squeaking mouse darted past the tips of Kin-Sora's front hooves, and she was slightly startled, but heaved herself to all fours quickly [as quickly as she could]. "Hey! Don't run away!" She called after the mouse, more in frustration than want for conversation or companionship. Then, moving past her at a slower speed than the mouse, went a mare! "Oh! Hey!" Kin-Sora called after the dark purple mare, trotting slowly behind her. She didn't recognize the other female, but at this point, any companionship was more than welcome.

After the mouse ran past the mare's feet, it was hard not to notice the other horse nearby. It looked like she was sleeping, or trying to anyway. She hoped that her chasing hadn't woken the stranger up.
"Hello!" Zillzee said cheerfully, sparing a moment from the chase to glance up at her. When she went back to following the critter, she only caught a glimpse of a tail before it disappeared into the tail grass.
"Oh drats." She kicked the dusty ground, not aware of the pun she made. The mouse was the only thing keeping her from boredom, and now that she lost it, she would have to go back to wandering around again.
Or did she? Zillzee remembered the other mare that was nearby, and gave her a smile. "Heya~"
Apparently she didn't remembered that she had said hello to her a couple seconds ago.

Slowing to a walk, then stopping all together, Kin-Sora studied the other mare. Her coloring was so much different than her own! The natural-toned mare peered over her shoulder, inspecting her own hide in comparison. Yup! Still tan! With a snort, Kin-Sora looked back towards Zillzee, curious and intrigued by her dark purple coloring.
"What were you chasing?" Kin-Sora asked, taking a step closer to Zillzee. She lowered her head close to the ground, eyes searching for whatever had had the other mare running so fast. "I thought I saw a mouse," Kin-Sora murmured, but she wasn't sure if she was right.
Picking her head back up, Kin-Sora reached her head towards Zillzee, sniffing at the mare cautiously. "I'm Kin-Sora," she announced rather proudly, with her head held high after tossing her mane [as best she could]. "You are...?" the young mare inquired of the other, her tail flicking idly as insects buzzed around her body.

"I was chasing a mouse!" Zillzee didn't mind if she sounded silly saying that, since she probably already looked silly by running around with no obvious purpose. That's what boredom did to her after all.
"Kin-Sora? That's a nice name!" Now that she was actually focused on the new mare, she noticed that she an unusually spikey mane and a ribbon tied around one of her legs. Things that weren't normal, but it was still cool in a way. She tried to not look interested in them, but her eyes slid up to her hair occasionally, despite her efforts.
"I'm Zillzee!" The said Soquili hoped that her new acquaintance was at least somewhat fun. Without the mouse, she'd slip back into doing nothing easily.

So she had been right! It hadn't been an illusion darting past her hooves, but a mouse. "Okay, so I wasn't seeing things," Kin-Sora laughed easily, her bright eyes glittering with amusement. Kin-Sora flicked her tail idly, chasing away a particularly nasty biting insect, a snort of irritation following.
"Thanks! Zillzee is a pretty name, too. I like how you're colored! Nice and bright, better than my dull, dusty hide," the young, brown mare complimented the other mare easily. While Zillzee was focused on Kin-Sora's spiky, clipped mohawk-like mane, and adornment around her thigh, the plain mare was entranced by her new acquaintance's unique coloring. "I wish I was more like you, y'know. Colored differently. I'm so... plain," Kin-Sora bemoaned with an irritated snort, followed by a soft sigh.

Zillzee was immediately dismayed at the other mare's thought. "You don't look that plain!" She reared back a bit, for no particular reason. "I mean, less is good and all that stuff! I dunno where I heard that from but..."
She tried to think of some more things positive with a simple coat. She never really thought of other Soquili being envious of her markings, and it was a bit of a surprise.
"You could stalk mice better with it!" Zillzee blurted out, regardless if Kin-Sora chased critters all day long like her.
