Story Tobias had grown up in a small, loving pack. He was the eldest of two brothers and a sister. He looked up to Gavan, their father, and could often be seen following him as a young pup, trying to be just like him. Life was pleasant, and he never imagined it to change.
One day, he heard some crying in a bush. There was a little human pup, crouched down and clutching her hand! Tobias, young and ever-so curious, trotted up to the human pup, wondering what was the matter. He licked her hand, and noticed that there was a sliver of wood sticking out of it! Whining in sympathy, he nuzzled the human cub until she stopped crying. In fact, she was giggling at this point! She stroked Tobias' fur and babbled in some incomprehensible tongue. Then, she got up and walked away, to her village. She could only have been four or five years old.
The next day, Tobias went to the same spot again, and found the child! He nuzzled her again, this time she had treats! He gobbled up the yummy, dried meat and licked her hand; there was no wood sliver now.
For the next week, Tobias spent the afternoons playing with this child. She was so bubbly and it was interesting, he thought, the differences between wolf siblings and a human pup. What he didn't know, however, is that the nearby village that she came from hated wolves. They thought that wolves were devil's spawn, and that they needed to do something about it.
One day, Tobias went to the spot and the child was not there. He waited for a bit, and whined, but she did not come. He didn't know, you see, that the girl had heard her very first story about the wolves from her grandmother, learning about how they were nothing but evil spirits. That night, Tobias resolved to go to the village, in hopes of finding the girl again.
He walked for a bit and could smell the distinct smell of two-leggeds, and the smell of smoke from their fires. But when he got to the camp, he found it almost deserted. He poked his head into one of their tents, and saw a couple of women with babies and children, chanting a prayer to one of their gods. Then, a sharp howl peirced the air, and their chanting grew suddenly faster and happier.
He could hear more howling, the howls of terrorized wolves. Rushing back to the pack den, he found the most horrific sight he'd ever seen. Blood. Bodies. He whined and howled, as he rushed to his mother. He nuzzled her, trying to get her to wake up, wondering why she wouldn't get up and tell him everything would be alright. His heart shattered when it hit him that she was dead too. They were all dead. And the air reeked of the murderers. He had trusted one of them.
"I TRUSTED YOU!!" He screamed at the child that wasn't there, he screamed into the empty, cold night air.
An crow cawed. It was so loud compared to the deafning silence that he jumped. He was alone now. He had no one. And so he began to run.

RP Friday, Jan 07, 2005 Lethrossen Kamali's tounge hung from his mug, he'd led Tobias all the way to the den, and was glancing about for one of the adults, whining a very bit to himself. "Who's around?" he muremred. Strawberry Jelly Tobias glanced around the den, taking it all in with interest. He'd hadn't been to a den in a while. He followed Kamali cautiously, trying to be polite. He didn't want to be rude in another pack's den. It seemed as if there weren't any adults around...
"Where are they, I wonder?" He asked Kamali. From his own memories, he remembered dens to be mildly busy places, with at least one wolf always there.
Lethrossen He shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Im not sure.." he nipped at Tobias and headed to the outside of the den, into the snow. "I.. I dunno if I could catch anything.. ut I could try.. Carmen gave me a lesson in hunting.. She's a good hunter." strawberry jelly "Okay, then" Tobias responded, now wanting a lesson himself. He decided he'd just watch Kamali, who would obviously know more about the subject then he. He followed Kamali outside; Even the wind seemed to be softer here, and not so harsh or cold. He stepped into the freshly fallen snow, leaving his footprint, and marveled at how it slowly filled again.
Tobias waited patiently, hopeing to learn a thing or two from Kamali. Lethrossen Kamali just hope he'd have luck enough to catch something. He started padding away from the den, his stance how Carmen showed him. Slightly crouching with ears held high and nose slightly raised, to catch scents.
Maybe he wouldnt have to hunt and save himself from making a mistake biggrin maybe one of the adults would show up. Kimaria Gizmo looked up sleepily, raising his head from his paws, ears drawing forwards as he watched Kamali and another begin to leave the den area. With a loud snuff he would stand up and shake his fur before sitting back on his haunches, raising one paw and licking it. strawberry jelly Tobias watched Kamali with interest, as he crouched slightly and his ears perked up. He seemed to be listening and smelling for any small animal. Tobias stood stalk still, trying to be very silent. Then, he decided he should probably back up a bit, and so backed up into the den. Settling down to watch, he was startled by a loud snuff. Jumping, he turned to see another pup. So the den wasn't empty after all.
"H-hello?" He said quietly, still in surprise and trying not to disturb Kamali.((I think Leth left. >.> )) Kimaria (( Things did seem to go quiet... >.> <.< )) With a loud yawn the pup blinked his golden eyes, which were fuzzy from sleep and dropped his raised paw back to the den's floor. He tilted his head towards the strange pup and wrinkled his snout, not quite sure what to make of the situation.
Giz could not help but notice that this newcomer smelt familiar to Kamali and spoke in the same timid way. Perhaps they were close friends?
Hello...you friend of Kam-Kam's? He swished his tail in greeting but remained where he was.strawberry jelly Tobias grinned at Kamali's nickname.
"Yes, actually." Tobias replied, "We're actually... brothers."
He wondered briefly whether he should have divulged that information, but decided that it wasn't really a secret. Not to him, anyways, and he could see no reason why it would be to Kamali.
"He's brought me here to get me some food. I don't really know how to hunt well..." He trailed off a bit, wondering if all these pups knew how to hunt. He'd probably look stupid. But, He thought, I'll learn soon, I hope. Kimaria If the stranger had said anything else after this new declaration of being siblings with the minty green pup, Gizmo did not hear it. His mind was reeling, thoughts echoing his first statement...they were brothers.
Golden eyes widened in shock, and he jumped to his feet taking a few steps back until his rump met with the wall of the den. His hackles raised in agitation and his ears flattened against his skull at the strangers words.
brother...brothers, Kam-Kam and this stranger were brothers!
Shaking his muzzle a small growl bubbled up in his throat, not directed towards this other pup but at the memories flooding into his mind.
Sable... He whispered, eyes glossy with refreshed grief.
Then as if remembering where he was his eyes snapped up to meet that of the pup's, a look of apology whirling in them. Lowering his head he would whimper, the fur along his shoulders smoothing once more, his tail curling about one leg.
Sorry... strawberry jelly Tobias glanced up at the other pup. He seemed to not be listening to him, but almost shocked. Slowly, he started to back up until he met the wall. With confusion, Tobias glanced behind himself to make sure there was no big, scary thing that was causing the other pup to do this. There wasn't. Looking back, he saw that the pup looked quite agitated now.
"Umm-" He began, then stood up as the other pup began to growl. He readied himself in case this pup wanted to fight him. Why would he be angry? The other pup whispered something that sounded likea name to Tobias, but then, as suddenly as the anger showed, it stopped. He looked sad, now. The pup whimpered and apologized. Perhaps he wasn't angry at Tobias? Still utterly confused, Tobias sat back down again and curled his tail around him, staring questioningly at the other pup. Kimaria He had not seen his brother since that day by the river, he had been but a mangled little thing, soaking wet and covered in blood. It had stung his nostrils and eyes until they burned. Even now he could not tear the image from his mind, and with it came the news...the grief and pain that his brother always managed to inflict upon him.
His brother had apologised...he had told him how sorry he was, and that they were the same. But how could they be? Sable was rude and nothing but a bully, in Gizmo's eyes the pup had no redeeming features. Yet something racked at him, causing his body to tremble with grief and shame. His brother wasn't the kind pup he would have wanted as a sibling but they shared the same blood, that could never be changed. They were the sole survivors of their dead pack and he had wanted nothing to do with him.
Was he dead?
Was he alive somewhere with the wolf he had named as a friend?
Closing his shining and watery orbs he would raise his muzzle a little and imagine life as it had been. Nosing at his mother's side, his brother and sisters wriggling up beside him and squeaking, demanding food. His small body was crushed beneath other furry bodies, unwanted by his mother and bullied by his brother and two sisters. He saw himself in his father's eyes, not a wolf but some disgusting little creature just pretending.
When he had left, sneaking through the undergrowth with nothing but the gentle moon watching him he had felt a great weight lift from him. Using the snow to hide his white body he had soon become lost in a blizzard, ice that scratched at his little, unprotected body. He had never felt love from his pack but now...was it wrong for him to disown Sable? The pup had been influenced by his parents and doing what he believed was right, could he truly have changed? Perhaps they could be true wolf brothers like Kam-Kam and this other seemed to be...
Shaking his head sadly he glanced up at the stranger and gave a smull whuff, he hadn't meant to frighten this other.
I Gizmo, and you be? He wanted to forget his past, he wanted to pretend that it didn't exist and yet events occured where he was forced to remember it...would he live the rest of his life feeling like this? strawberry jelly ((Poor Gizmo! gonk )) Tobias watched as the other seemed to be immersed in memories. He knew that feeling. He shifted a bit, and curled his tail around him a bit more. Then the other spoke.
"I'm Tobias. Hello, Gizmo." He looked apon the other pup with a bit of sadness, and a bit of respect. He seemed to have been through a lot. He didn't know what is was, but he felt his heart go out to the pup. Memories seemed to be a cursed thing. Kimaria (( Gizmo's such a drama pup XD )) Gizmo wagged his tail cheerfully, Tobias seemed like a strong and noble name indeed, he liked this other pup a lot.
Moving up to lay in the entrance of the den, enjoying the cool breeze ruffling through his fur he turned his eyes to look at the other and blinked. Glad to meet Tobie He spoke turning his head to stare out of the forest. Where Kam-Kam going?((I have to go too whee we'll continue another time. bye bye! )) Lethrossen ((coarse i get on right when every one leaves -___-)) Kamali had been completely zoned, and did not notice when Tobias had slipped into the den. He didn't even know that Gizmo was meeting his brother. Gizmo wasn't even suposed to know he had a brother..
He'd trotted a bit more from the den, slightly into the woods. He could smell the scent of rabbit, it was most farmillur to his untrained nose. His gaze scanned around the small area, and he decided that there were maybe two in a small hole.
A rabbit hole? Maybe it was their house. His visage showed distaste, and he kept walking, tail flicking slightly. How was he supposed to catch something if it was IN the ground? After a little bit more he came to a small stream, and he trotted to the edge, peering in. His mug went to the icey liquid, and he lapped a bit up. Fishing would be useless, he simply did not know how.
He began to walk longer, starting to feel a little bad about himsel. He felt he was a terrible hunter. He could not even find something to hunt! Just as this thought seemed to slip from his mind a large white rabbit dashed from behind a rock!
Kamali's eyes went wide in surprise as he lept foward to chase after it, cursing himself for not paying attention. He was gaining on the animal, but it was putting an effort on Kamali. His small pink tounge lolled from his tiny jaws, wipping bag in the wind along with his minty fur.
Just as the rabbit began to turn Kamali decided to make his move, leaping and feeling contact. But from the speed he had been going and the impact he began to roll, paws ripping into the flesh. He could not seem to find the poor creatures neck!
This was probably a rather entertaining sight. But Kamali had tired out the rabbit, and when they landed, rather hard, kamali snapped at the creatures neck, finally finding his mark. He lay there a few moments, tired. Then he realized his mouth was filled and covered with warm blood. He jerked his face away, frowning and looking around. Where was he?
He'd found his way to the small, frozen pond. In fact he was on the pond! He got up, and wimpered a little. All that rolling had probably bruised his body. As he stood he shook off and walked a few paces from his kill, licking at the ice in attempt to wash away the blood taste. He then started to lick at his paws, then looked down at his chest and winced. The rabbits blood had splattered onto him.
He finally realized Tobias wasn't with him, and decided he was waiting back at the cave. He trotted over to the dead mass of blood soaked meat, and gingerly took the kill in his jaws, heading back to the den, following his own scent.((wow long post O_O)) [insert carmen+kamali interactions] Kimaria Gizmo was still confused and muddled about his conversation with Kam-Kam's brother, not sure what to think or do. He was sitting close to the entrance of the den, staring out of the forest with unfocused eyes, his white tail curled about him.
Tobias seemed like a nice enough pup and Gizmo wondered if he had joined the pack. He had not heard anything mentioned about it but decided it wasn't his role to worry on something like that.
With a sneeze he turned his head and spotted Lera, wagging his tail and drawing his ears forward in greeting. Otsune Lera had not met this wolf named Tobias, but had only heard of him vaguely from Kamali. She arched her back and stretched her limbs out to their fullest extent. Felt good <3 Lera couldn't wait until they moved, which would most definatly be soon. Yet the words from the striped wolf plagued her mind, there were known hunters in the east, yet when weren't there? She gave a bit of a sigh. It was then she noticed Kamali moving towards her. She, too, pulled her ears forward and gave a happy wolf grin in greeting. "Good morning, Gizmo," she said. strawberry jelly Tobias was startled to realize there was yet another wolf in the den! How unobservant he was. This was a much older she-wolf, not a pup like many of the other wolves he'd met. She was much larger too. He felt a little intimidated. But when in another pack's den, he should be polite. So he decided to introduce himself.
"Hello." He said, softly. He wondered if she'd hear him, for it was actually quite quiet. (not done, left at page 142 cool
