Dir en Grey's coming to America on tour again this year. ^-^ I bought tickets all ready for me, my sister, and my brother to go. Pretty much this board is to post if you're going, any other DeG concerts you've been to, etc.

Mmm, not particularly into J-Rock myself, but I have heard a couple of their songs that I like. I never bother going to concerts though.

O-O Really?
I'm really into international music. >> And 'cause I'm learning Japanese, I listen to a lot of Japanese to help me out. Not to mention it's awesome. xD;;
I've never bothered going to concerts before now, but I love Dir en Grey so I knew I had to go to this concert. Plus the tickets were very cheaply priced. xD;; (I dunno if that's good or bad though. >> << >>)

I listen to any music that I like how it sounds, regardless of the language, but I hardly ever focus on any specific bands or singers... and J Rock itself just seems to trendy for my tastes, where the band members try too hard to be cool... they often have good music, but that's about it to me. And I hate concerts. XD;; They're so loud and crowded and people smoke and drink... ick, I prefer to just listen to music at home where I'm safe. XD;;

As for the language of the music, I agree. I'll listen to just about anything if it sounds good. (Like right now, I really the bands Lacuna Coil and Nightwish. They're Finnish or something and they sing in English.)
I know exactly what you're talking about. o-o My sister is obsessed with Miyavi and I watched his movie Oresama with her. I never liked his music 'cause he has a horrible voice, but I had no reason to not like like him. Well, I watched his movie and he was constantly doing really stupid stuff to make himself seem cool. So I can see where it'd be annoying for someone when they're trying to hard to be cool.
xD Well, this'll be my first so I dunno. I just think it'd be neat to see the band in person, y'know? It's not like one of those, "OMG! I'm in the same room as them! -spazz-" or "OMG! I'm breathing the same air as them! -hyperventilates-". It's just I think it'd be cool to be able to watch them perform the music that I like so much. I'm especially excited to be able to watch Die and Kaoru perform. I play guitar and Die is like my... Guitar role-model. o-o

I love Nightwish. ^^ One of the few bands I go out of my way to find their various music. Yeah, kind of like that... for JRock, a lot of times it seems they work harder on their image than their music. D: I'm actually reading a book that revolves around that right now. I hope you have fun. XD I couldn't see you being that obsessive, but I can see where you're coming from.

KitsuneChan8888888 And I hate concerts. XD;; They're so loud and crowded and people smoke and drink... ick, I prefer to just listen to music at home where I'm safe. XD;; You're sensible.
Last one I went to, the idiot next to me was flailing his arms around and banged me on the head with his elbow. ;_;

^^ Nice to hear from you again. How've you been doing?
No he didn't. D: He looked a bit embarrassed but he didn't say sorry. He just sort of shuffled away. XD
Then I went to sit in the bar for a bit because I needed to sit down and my friend started fussing over me which was nice. :3 Really, its not a bad thing because it was something memorable, which the band wasn't. =P
Lol essay.
Oh, and so I'm not dragging this horribly off topic... I did listen to Dir en Grey a while back to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I need to give them another listen though because I didn't give them much of a chance.
It wasn't because I thought they were bad or anything. Its just that I have to understand a song before I can like it. I do like foreign language songs. I just have to find translations, which is effort, which means a song's sound has to really strike me first. Once Ive got the gist, it's all good.
My friend shows me J-Rock songs, and I ask her what the song is about, and she says she has no clue but she likes it. I honestly can't understand how she can do that.

I've been pretty okay. Busy with school, but not bad. :3 And you? What a silly little jerk. XD But yeah, at least you have a fun story now. I see what you mean about Dir en Grey. They don't really catch my attention either. I like them, but not a horrible amount. I think the only one of their songs I really like a lot is Cage, and I don't think that's a very well-known one... That's interesting though how you see songs. XD I'm like your friend; I love tons of songs that I don't know what they mean. I do get interested to read lyric translations, but I'm good without them too. I dunno, I guess it's just when the melody speaks to you or something... I tend to like melodies that feel passionate, and I don't think you always need words to show passion.

Not been up to a lot. But generally okay. Good to hear that you're keeping busy. ^^
I find that a melody can really complement a song but I won't connect with it at all unless I feel I understand the intention behind it. Sometimes it doesn't need words, but if they're there and I don't get them, I end up feeling sort of ... frustrated? Maybe that's a bit of a strong word, but .. yeah. It's prolly because I've listened to musicals so much, I'm used to songs being part of a story, and because I used to sing, I'm used to concentrating on that aspect of that. If I can't understand a song, it just seems like noise to me. I assumed lots of people saw it like that.
Your way sounds better really, and a lot more intelligent, but I can't help it. xP
Sorry if that makes no sense...headache.

Glad you're doing okay. No, what you said makes sense. XD Everyone has their own way of viewing things. I think it's interesting how you see music. And I can see how musicals and singing would cause you to see it that way.

Sorry that I haven't been on recently! ^-^;;
Today is the day of the concert for me! ^-^ I'm pretty excited about it 'cause it'll be my first concert. Also, I heard that their newest album'll be on sale at the merch booth! (It's actually not supposed to come out until next week.) So I really want to buy it.
I don't think they'll do it, but I'd love for them to play some of their older stuff.
Also, I just wanted to say, I really like Cage as well. ^-^ I didn't know that it wasn't well-known though. o-o But I guess that most people do tend to pay the most attention to the new stuff... As for myself, I really like their old stuff as well as the new. I really like Yurameki and it's a song from their first album...
