How does having dreads make someone look like Zelda?

Zelda's hair in Twilight Princess and the latest Smash Bros. looks more like she took long hair and did a bit of a half french braid in the back then let it all loose for a giganto thick pony tail which she THEN decided to clasp together and braid. With strands at either side of her head separated from the initial french braid bit that were let to lay in front of her and then bound together with twine and then capped off.
The above =/= dreads.
