Glith spoke up as the two swooped barely avoiding some thread. Wrath would like to know about timing it.
Just send her this picture. It's as early as is safely possible. Tolara sent Glith a picture of the empty sky behind them. If it went according to plan everyone would get there soon.
A thread scored on Glith and the two went between breifly freezing the silver stuff.
Ask Kerth and Xaith to stay at Fort until we get back.
Back?!?
Just. Trust me.
Glith stayed silent for a moment then sent the image on to Wrath.

((*crosses fingers hoping she dosen't screw up much*))
Kopi came from between and paused to look at the thread. He alredy had a gullet full of the firestone, ready to breath fire. His little body readied then he dove at a clump of thread breathing flames, along with other flits that had arrived.
Kopi vered off so he didn't hit another flit. He pulled upwards once more, and breathed fire at a new clump, feeling thread burn into a wing tip. He went between and felt the immediet releif as the thread froze and crumbled to nothing.
He reappered and dove at a new clump.

K'vok and Taloth arrived at the site of Fall, both looking around for the members of their Wing. Mine, Kerth says that he was asked to stay behind by Glith.
K'vok blinked and shrugged. Hey, what a queen says, goes. Spotting one of the greens from his Wing, he waved the dragon and her rider over while Taloth called out to them. Rieundoth! Over here!
D'lon soon appeared with Harth and the two joined the others.
Meanwhile, at a different area of Threadfall, P'las and T'ner were busy rounding up the riders of their Wing. The two bronzeriders and T'rin hoped that the others would soon show up and help fight.

J'quaz and Tetoneth appeared out of between only dragon lengths from K'vok and his wing. Waving to them J'quaz and Tetoneth pulled into their position within the wing and readied themselves to go into the fight.
Taloth! Where is the rest of the wing?! Tetoneth called out to Taloth.

Ranuth burst from between with a roar that sent a shiver up M'kai's spine. The excitement of threadfall was making him anxious. He looked around wildly in the darkness, wondering how on Pern they were going to fight thread that that they couldn't even see, and spotted the vague outlines of other dragons in the sky.
Ran, let's get into position! The great brown backwinged and settled into formation; he could just make out Pericolath and Kryanth above him, rallying the other riders to their positions. It was obvious that there was considerable confusion in the blackness.
There will be many wounded tonight said Ranuth in typical draconic logic. Let's hope not, answered M'kai grimly.

As the first dragons appeared at threadfall Tolara and Glith returned to Fort to collect the rest of her 'wing'.

Taloth gave a sort of mental 'shrug'. I am not sure. I think many are still getting ready.
Klah appeared in the air, chirping to himself as he darted about flaming Thread. It almost sounded like the crazy bugger was singing to himself. Strange creatures, flits.

Sending out an urgent call to her distant kin, Isskio summoned a fair of wild flits to her aid. A quite mature queen flit arrived shortly thereafter, her fair having an unusually large number of members, with quite a few healthy bronzes and browns. Isskio trilled at them, very interested, but the matter at claw was much too important to waste time preening for some handsome males. The stranger queen immediately grasped the situation. Thread, their ancient enemy, was falling out of time.
Quick as thought, she assigned half her fair to Isskio's keeping, two smaller groups being better-able to guard the two wings of their big big cousin. The older flit queen also called up more flits from far away. They were nearly as quick to respond, joining the fairs that were already working this strange fall.
Despite the appearance of cavorting in the vortices of air caused by the big cousin's wings, Isskio and her tempoary fair kept a sharp eye out for Thread, two or three darting up to flame individual strands or small clumps that threatened to strike the broad sails. She had to remind the blues and sometimes some of the browns to go find more firestone as their flames weakened, but the bronzes--ah, such fine fellows!--did so as soon as it was necessary without prompting.
Isskio was dimly aware that her person was thinking about her, and so was her biiiig sister, but she was far too busy handling these strange flits and guarding her big cousin's wing to respond. Big Sister could find out what she wanted without distracting her.

Kopi was very much delighted when the others started to arrive. He had been getting a bit ancous with no big ones around for what seemed so long.
Alredy his tail and the wing tip had been scored, but not bad enough to make him stop. He trilled at the new flits arriveing, and the wild ones. Also glad for them here. The big ones could always use help, and his had wanted him to keep safe.
It was easier to keep safe when more than one eye watched for wings and tails of others.
He went between to get more firestone and came back quickly, flaming thread with the others, though not one of his movements matched there speed or grace.
Where they soared he wobbled, where they turned sharply he woudl simply dive to turn. So many differnce, ways to distinguish him from the others, simply because he'd had to leanr how to fly diffently.
Alredy his poor body was staring to feel fatgue, but he ignored it. Thread fell, he refused to leave untill the thread was gone. THen.. then he would go back to his, and get to curl up under her warm blanket of hair.
Kopi showed images to Akai, the big ones arriving.. the hundreds of fliits and watchweres that soared dove and fought the thread. They would win, he was sure of it.

Thread! Surrounded! Flame! FLAME! Tolan flew through the Thread-filled skies, scorching Thread as he went, skipping between when he must. He was relieved when his wild siblings showed up and very much relieved when his big cousins showed up. He went between to chew more firestone, then jumped back to start scorching Thread out of the sky again.

M'kai and Ranuth darted through the black sky, here flaming, there ducking, then dogding...it was an endless dance of destruction tailored by hundreds of years of dragonriders that had come before them. M'kai looked around once between acrobatics and saw that the night sky was bright with the large jets of flame that were the dragons and the thousands of tiny streams that were the flits and watchwhers. They were putting up quite a fight.
Suddenly a whistling noise near his ear told him that a clump had nearly missed his head and he was tugged back to the battle. More, ridermine! said Ranuth; in a perfectly orchestrated movement he whipped his head back and was met with more firestone chunks to chew. We're going to need some more soon, said M'kai after glancing into the near-empty sack.
Before he was done, however, a tangled clump of thread plumeted from above. M'kai didn't even need to warn the brown though, for another milisecond and they had lurched into a barrel roll away from the clump. Ranuth gave a roar of challenge, folded his wings, and jacknifed the air in a perfect free-fall dive for the errant thread. I miss nothing tonight!

A crazy green flit swooped around the dragon's, flaming, flaming, flaming. A clump drifted past her. With a quick turn of her neck the green opened her mouth, expecting flame to spew forth and char the evil stuff, but nothing came. Twining fully about the green chased the thread single mindedly, trying to flame it. But no flame came out. Strange, strange.

Kopii dipped and soared. He was exausted., but still pushed to fight with the others. He didn't want to leavem, not with thread still falling!
He went between to get more firestone, and reguitate some of the wet ashes he had alredy. HIs stomach was hurting from how much firestone had been in there, but it felt better now.
He returned to the fight, just int ime to dive after another clump of thread. His wing and tail ached from the thread score, as did his right leg, left wing and back. Fortunaly they were fairly minor, and not deep.
He chirped to one of the other flits that seemed to be attempting to flame thread but must be out of firestone since no thread was coming out. Kopi opened his mouth and flamed the thread the green had been after, to help out.

Deep into the threadfall now the green rider, R'ven and dragon Satosith fought hard against the thread. Satosith dove and attacked thread as it came close to her and her rider. R'ven pulled stone after stone of firestone from her firestone bag until finally she reached for another stone but there wasn't any.
Satosith we're out of firestone. Call for more. R'ven said as Satosith did so calling out to any who could hear her back at the Fort Weyr.
((Finally out my own NPC intervention firestone is needed. Nevaeh and Javareth to the rescue in the next post. xd Let's get this threadfall moving ya'll!))
