He growled to himself and stood to shake off, his dark fur gleamed in the light of day each brown standing out on it's own light and dark. In the shadows they all melded together, one dark beast moving alone. Always alone.
It was her sweet open personality that had pierced his heart, how he longed to be touched by such brightness each day. Yet what kind of horrors would await him if he should ever loose such a treasure? He couldn't dare to pluck her for his own when he might fail in some way to care for her. He sighed and shook his head, it didn't bear to think about because he hadn't seen her since...well at least outside of the realm of his imagination.

She had finally escaped from the confinement of the pack this morning.. She hated being tied down to the pack,she always felt obligated todo something, yet she felt sure that the pack would not have her back quite as fast.
She had grown since hse had last seen the wolf named Chocolate.
Grown alot in fact.He had met her as a gangly little teen with crushes and heartache.
Now she was a Wolfess.A bright and beautiful She-wolf.
Her bright emerald eyes gleamed.SHe was so much like her father.. So much like him that it bothered her mother to this day.
Shezaam had been keeping away from her mother..Avoiding at all costs.
She could not stand the she-wolf's words anymore..They destroyed the soft hearted femme.
But Chocolate, had given her hope that she could be free..and she had wished to see him every day since then..
Her paws climbed the rocks that would lead her into her forest..The forest she loved to run through daily.
But something smelled different today..

Chocolate raised his nose curiously and trotted along the treeline, something smelled wonderful in the forest, a sweet scent his mind latched onto with hope. He stepped back as he realized it had to be her! He moved back again and contemplated running in the other direction. If he ever saw her again surely he would go mad with longing.
The male felt his legs lock in place, they betrayed him, too eager to see once again the radiant creature that haunted his thoughts day and night. Was she still his princess or had she become a queen?

Her ears perked, and she stopped. Something was heading towards her..She could feel it in her paws..The vibrations were sending small messages to her brain, telling her that something was coming fast, and not slowing down.
She braced herself, backing away slowly, as if to duck behind a tree. But she did not hide. She waited, making her breath soft and almost completely inaudible.
If it was a deer, it would run right by, and she would have it. But it didnt smell like deer.
It smelled of wolf.
She was unsure why it would smell like wolf.. Because it didnt smell like pack and it did smell familiar.
It didnt have Grens mysterious musk..But..
She paused, lifting her body as she realized at once who it might be.
He smelled of leaves in the fall.. Chocolate.
She smiled, tail wagging, and she stepped back out into the open, and through her head back in a howl of alert.
She wanted him toknow she was here..And if it wasnt him, then he needed to go around.

The howl did him in, a piercing sound that reached his chest and tugged him forward, onward, toward her. His legs unlocked and carried him to her with a racing speed that put the wind to shame. He could feel his heart pounding, a thrumming sound filled his ears and his mind warned him to prepare for the shock.
Yet nothing could have prepared him, for he expected the same svelt young female he had first met. Instead he cleared the line of tree and was shocked to see an elegant, slim, full grown femme. Her eyes pierced him with their vivid green, and her fur was as bright as he recalled tinged with the swirls and stripes of before. If she ever looked a princess it was now, a princess waiting for a prince.
He shook his head lightly to himself, he should turn tail and run, far far from her. He was no prince, he was a secluded beast, a creature of the dark and solitude. His body betrayed him though, one paw moved after the other. His mouth opened of it's own accord and his voice gruff from lack of use spilled the words. "Hello again princess...."

The male was going so fast, that she was almost knocked backwards in an attempt to not get run over. But she held her ground, head going lower and eyes gleaming bright as he halted right in front of her.
It was her Chocolate..It was him, she hadnt been wrong. Her nose had not failed her yet.
He was bigger than she remembered, but she was still small compared to the larger male.
She was full grown, she just seemed to be smaller than her siblings had become.
But she was strong as an Ox,and smart as ever.
"Chocolate."
She sighed, her tail wagging in a swaying motion side to side ever so slowly.
"How have you been?"
Her voice had taken a more mature tone, but she was still the soft gentle sounding female she had always been.
She just sounded more motherly, over angsty.
She walked closer to him, giving a nudge wiuth her nose, licking his chin.
Time had flown, but she still remembered everything this male had done for her..What he had instilled in her.
She was no longer the 'Im so sad' female she had always been..
Now she was confident, poised,and ready to take on the world.

"No better then you I'm sure." He murmured softly and accepted the nudge, the lick left his heart in his throat and he lightly nuzzled her. She seemed to have gained some measure of confidence and there was a sweet softness to her that made him smile. She was still his princess, of course. Except something WAS different, he just couldn't quite place it.
His body gave a thrum of pleasure and he realized with horror exactly what was different, he was attracted to her in a new way, not as the same simple protector. He wanted her for his own, he held back a growl and sat down stiffly. He wouldn't do it, she deserved to live carefree and fancy, not constantly overshadowed by his paranoia. His heart ached in his chest at the thought of seperating from her again, what if when he next saw her she was with some male? He couldn't stop the growl that rumbled from his chest then.

She giggled, nudging him playfully and shaking her head.
"Oh you just keep growling you old bear."
She teased, and stood up,wagging her tail, and moving as if she wanted to play.
She really was just really excited, but she didnt know how to react to him yet.
She liked him, and deep inside, she felt the pull of the true feelings she had always harbored.
She couldnt help the thump of her tail as it swung wildly about.
"Im glad you came back."
She said gently, licking his muzzle one more time, before coming to take a seat next to him, leaning closer and putting her face into his mane of neck fluff.
Shezaam had always been very touchy..She had always been in a pack where touch was everything.
So her small packlike tendencies trickled out sometimes on not pack members.

He chuckled softly at her teasing and nodded "I'm sorry princess, sometimes I need to learn to keep my mind focused on more pleasant thoughts." He let his tail waver in the air to match hers and pushed back any thoughts of her with another. Such things only aggravated him when he knew they should not, he had no claim to her.
He lightly placed a paw over her back and nuzzled her pulling her close protective and possessive though he had just explained to himself why he should not be. He smiled softly and licked her muzzle "I'm glad to see you again too...I thought of you, often." Often HA that was minimizing things, she burned his mind at all hours of the day and night.

She smiled, playing with him like she was a pup again.
"Oh Chocolate!"
She said, giving a yip and bounding around him, her tail wagging crazy and wide.
She had fit so perfectly into his mind, and he had done the same to her.
She had not said anything to her parents, knowing full well that if Twist was to find that Shezaam ever had feelings for someone outside the pack..She would be irate.
Because Twist only trusted the pack, and then again..She didnt even come close to trusting them either.
"You have been on my mind since the day we met."
She said with a smile.

He laughed and lightly crouched his tail wagging playfully for her, she was so happy it was infectious. He circled and flopped over chuckling as he lay on his side and watched her wild enthusiasm. His little ball of bounding sunshine, how he adored her.
He looked at her shocked and wiped the word 'adoration' out of his mind. He had been on her mind as well? How unhealthy for her to have been thinking about him, he shouldn't have been anywhere near her sweet thoughts. He frowned slightly "Oh? On your mind hmm? Well I certainly don't belong there now do I princess?" He sighed softly and shook his head. He didn't want to bog her down, besides she had her pack and no doubt some charming wolf her own age waiting for her there.

She giggled, going to stand over him in mock dominance as he rolled over onto his side. She almost had him pinned, but she was not holding him down, merely standing over him with a goofy grin on her face.
"Of course you were on my mind.."
'You're the only thing that keeps my mind sane..'
She had neglected to add to that sentence.
She refused to be the one to announce these feelings.. She couldnt. It would be bad for her pack, and what of Gren?
Her relationship with him was undefined. She had no idea where they would lead.. Or if they'd even become more than friends..
But when she looked at Chocolate, she saw her soulmate.
"Chocolate..."
She stopped moving, pulled back,and sat down quickly, her ears back. Looking as if she was going to say something important,she shook her head and smiled, her ears perking right back up.
"Nevermind..So why on earth was I on your mind? Surely a big attractive male like you doesnt think of some silly little thing like me."
She said with a smile.

He frowned at her words, he kept her sane? How ironic for she was what kept him insane, she shook his whole world with her bright spirit. He drove her to madness with longing and hope that he might be able to love another again, love without his terror of loss.
He snapped up as she spoke his name and tilted his head waiting for her to speak. When she trailed off he sat up and looked at her curiously, her next words made him scowl. "Your not silly, you were on my mind because..." He frowned and looked down. "well because you made an impression, I worried about you princess."

She didnt want to alarm him, so she smiled and cocked her head.
"Why would you worry?"
She lowered her tail ,walking closer to him with a nudge of her nose.
She smiled as she pulled away, staring into his chocolate orbs with her own emerald gaze.
"Why would you worry about me,Chocolate?"
She asked, getting closer to him, where she was almost breathing on his face.
She quickly snapped out of her daze, and shook her head.
"m so sorry!"
SHe said.
"Im always up in your space."

He chuckled and pulled her close again with his paw giving her a gentle nuzzle. "It's alright princess I like you in my space." He licked her cheek and sighed "The truth of it is your on my mind more then you should be you know...I worry about you because I care about you." He murmured softly against her ear.
"I think your too beautiful to be left alone for the world to batter about, too clever and bright to be thinking otherwise." He moved his paw from her back and frowned. "I shouldn't think such things, but I would kill anyone who tried to hurt you princess." He sighed softly and looked down as if greatly troubled by the thought that anyone would even want to harm her.
