Fallen Archangel Az

It was a stretch, but the fiend had resisted the call of the shadowed forest of Verasthul and had found himself standing at the shore of Kell Beach. The water lightly lapped up to his clawed feet as his golden eyes peered out beyong the darkness, the moon sitting upon the ocean as the stars glittered in each of the waves. It was serene...but not much about it was very...menacing. Well..that was enough quiet and solitude the fiend wished to handle, now he wanted to hunt.

He spread out his magnificent wings, stretching for the moment as he contemplated his next hit...there weren't too many places..he was pretty sure the the port city of Priyal knew his face. Already a few had gone to not take so kindly to him whenever they caught his form entering..but his desire and need for hearts and souls was proving to be to great to control without performing a number of attacks daily.

"Soon..this place will no longer have any more victims to feed off of..."
the heartless growled beneath his breath, his sickle-like tail flashing underneath the moonlight.

Joachim sighed. His hunt for fresh blood had lead him no where, and his hunger was growing. The port city was too keen. For some reason, they had upped their night watch, though it was not due to Joachim's feeding, which gave him a slight comfort.
Joachim's feet grew heavy as he found himself at the shore line. "Damn this. I need blood, not...this." he kicked a piece of seaweed that had floated onto his shoe. "Ugh. Damn this place. What must I do for a damnable meal?" His eyes scanned the shore line, and met with a large black form not to far away. " A lone sailor? Or perhaps a vagabond? Huh. Who cares, all I need to know is that you've the energy I need." He dashed towards the shape only to halt 20 feet away. "What the hell....What are you?" Joachim felt chilled, and for a very rare time, afraid for his life.

There was the sound of the shifting of beach sand...someone was running around here and they were coming towards him. A sinister fanged smirk crossed his dark face as his large wings flexed back, his blazing golden eyes closed as his senses searched the approaching enigma. No...it was not a human...and his smirk faded slightly.

Then, it spoke...surprised and directed right towards him. Opening his eyes, Shadow arched his head slightly to look in the direction the pale little one was now standing. With horns glistening in the moonlight and the occasional flash of his sickle-like tail blade, Shadow spoke in his deep, dark voice,

"Me? I believe I could be a fiend...a demon...but really.."
Shadow hissed, turning his entire body to face the little one,

"...I'm just a heartless in essence."
the fiend was walking towards Joachim, intent on taking what life he could from him.

"Did you intend on taking something from me?"

Joachim quickly jump backward, to what he thought to be a safe distance. Swallowing his fear, Joachim spoak. "I had intended to take blood from some vagabond, however..." Joachim eyes the heartless's tall form. "I can see you are no mortal. Nor, are you a vagabond of any sort. My...sincerest apologies for disturbing you."
Bowing, Joachim hoped to detour the being's ill intent. Raising his head, Joachim could still feel the malice radiate from the heartless. Choking down his fear once more, he introduced himself. "I am Joachim, Joachim Armster, a vampire."

The little one seemed nervous, but he saw that they shared two common traits. This one drained the living of their life just as he...and he had no true soul, born as an Espirit like himself. But..the little one was cautious and he had good reason to be. His difference in height was great..and from a distance one would think it was an adult speaking to it's child. This little one, Joachim was very quick to understand who could pull the strings here...as well as knowing where his respect was at.

"A vampire you say? You are the first I have seen..."
Shadow said, kneeling down enough to get eye to eye with the young vampire,

"...you don't need to fear me Joachim. You and I...we are very much alike, young vampire."
the heartless hissed,

"It is not often I come across a being whom I can tolerate so soon..I am Shadow, and simply that."
he finished, standing up to his full height once again.

Joachim bowed again, understanding that respect was critical in this situation. Shadow, was a heartless, and from his research on vampires, he knew that they shared common traits. However, the height difference was not mentioned.
"Vampires are rare now it would seem. Though I was never mortal, I share the sentimentality of one newly turned. I crave blood regularly, I...have human thoughts and emotions. And I share the inherent weaknesses of all vampires. Sadly, it is the vampires who are so like me that perish. I myself have never met a true ancient vampire, as many are dead thanks to the inventions of man." Joachim sighed and looked towards the port town.
"Priyal had been my feeding ground for the past few weeks, yet, they have raised their night watch and guard. Making it almost impossible to go completely unnoticed. To my understanding they have executed two men for my actions. Only one truly being a vampire." Joachim's eyes twisted to the open sea. His eyes turned a startling red, as his vision increased dramatically.
"Sailors however, have taken no such measures for protection against my kind. The sea is their shield, and I cannot strike past it. "
He looked at shadow. "Have you had success in your hunts? Or have you been hindered as I have by the actions of mankind?"

Shadow crossed his arms across his chest just as Joachim had begun to tell his tale. Toyah often enlightened him when he was young about these sorts of species of the dark, and in this sort of world..such a crossing would have invetiably happened sooner or later. Did the vampire understand just what a heartless was? It seemed only to an extent...the height difference only came to their variances in age..what was it that Toyah had told him? He had ascended to the level many wanted and many would not reach..to a..Legend correct?

"You too have hunted in the city of Priyal? I have never seen you..but I believe I am the one for that blame. I too have cravings, not for blood..but for the souls and hearts of the living...out of control I might add.."
Shadow growled, closing his golden eyes for a moment just as a craving started up within him again as he lifted his head up slightly.

"What misfortune for you...I have much sucess in my hunts...but I am never satisfied...the idea of hunting sailors proves very interesting though, and I need to hunt soon or you might just have to be what sustains me for a little bit longer..."
Shadow snarled, his blazing golden eyes out towards the ocean.

"My ignorance of your species leads me to wonder if I could be a transport for you over the ocean...would you be able to seek us out a ship out there?"

Joachim grinned bearing his fangs, which glittered like ivory on the moonlight. "Port cities have long been a favorite of mine. They provide many ways of escape, and...entertainment. You are not entirely to blame for the recent rise in patrol however. Rumors have surfaced that the mayor's wife was seduced by a demon, and she has since been mad. But, I suspect the mayor caught his wife cheating, and has since been mounting searched for her undead lover."
His eye returned to the open sea. " My powers of flight don't exist upon the open sea. However, my senses are as keen as they would be on land."
Licking his lips Joachim continued. "Even now I can spot about three miles off shore a lone fishing vassal. Only big enough for a five, maybe seven person, crew. "
He tuned back to Shadow. "I typically feed from two people at maximum." Joachim grinned again, teeth shining. "What say you, Sir Shadow?"

Such news..now which demon what that be? Surely none he knew..ah what an interesting meeting that would be the this supposed demon attack. Humans were such fickle creatures after all. His tail whipped back and forth, growing ever anxious to hear whether or not the young vampire could do what he had proposed. All he needed to hear was that he could..and when the little vampire said his ability could be used..then Shadow reached down and picked up the vampire by his collar.

"Well..whatever the reason is, it will all be over soon..for now, just direct me in the direction I need to go."
Shadow replied gruffly as his wings stretched out to their full length, placing the young vampire on his shoulder's between his neck and spikes.

Wasting no more time, the fiend jumped fromt he ground with great force as his great wings beat and propelled the two forward, waiting for Joachim to utter which way to go.

Joachim griping the spikes, shocked at the brash actions. However, he knew his next meal, and possibly his existence, relied on this man. With the wind chilling his face, Joachim squinted, his eyes retuning to their night vision. Taking a deep breath he hoped to speak loud enough from Shadow to hear him. "Four and a half miles, 30 degrees to your right. It has one ship light on, meaning its docked for the night and the crew on board is asleep." He blinked. "From up here I can tell is not a fishing vessel. Its a private boat. Yet, it will still have up to seven people on board at maximum."

It was like the heartless to rush to get what he wanted, if he really truly desired it. Though..this was more for the existance of such a valuable tool because if he didn't get the heart or soul of another...well..he'd have to tear whatever he could from the vampire.

Shadow continued on, barely even able to feel the young vampire upon his shoulder's. The fiend adjusted his flying route accorrdingly once Joachim had spoken the direction to take. The demon heartless descended down until he was barely above the ocean's surface. Simply thinking of how close he was to getting just enough to keep on, Shadow began to fly at a faster pace just trying to reach the ship as quickly as he could.

Soon, the ship's silhoutte came into view and the heartless continued to try and speed up. He began to ascend slightly as the ship grew bigger until finally...the demon heartless was flying just above the ship's mast searching the deck for a night owl. Seeing no one, Shadow landed quietly and picked up Joachim by the collar again, placing him on the deck next to him.

"You ought to hope that there is as many as you are guessing there is on board Joachim..."
PostPosted: Sun Aug 17, 2008 4:10 pm

Joachim felt the wave of power ebb with the proximity of the water decrease and increase. Once he landed, his power serged back. Joachim's eyes scanned the deck, while he listened for noise.
"Below deck, three, no, four people are having a party." He snorted. "Uh, the stench of the liquor even is up here." He walked along the deck, leaving no sound, a skill possessed by only true vampire kind.
"If you so wish I can lure them out one by one. Its an easy enough mind trick. or, would you rather go below deck and...feast?" Joachim's eyes looked at the cabin door.

Shadow's own mind scanned the ship, perhaps not nearly as strong as Joachim's ability...but he could easily sense the light within the hearts of the humans. Which really..they were rather dim compared to his desired level. No matter..he had to suffice with this and he would do so with his own ability.

"The human's already dress themselves for the taking..."
Shadow sighed to himself, darkness pooling around his feet as the dark wisps began to slither up on his body...engulfing him as he melded into the deck itself..appearing to be no more than a shadow.

"You do what you will...I prefer doing this without any help further on..."
Shadow's voice reverberated from nowhere as the 'pool' of darkness thinned and began to move, slipping under the door and heading down towards the area which the vampire had spotted human's guffawing it up.

Joachim glared as shadow took to his namesake.
"Fair enough." Joachim walked towards the door, and, unhesitatingly, slammed it open, grabbing the attention of the men inside, mildly drunk. His mind shifted as he felt his blood lust rise to the surface, the words of the men falling on deaf ears.
"I'm a bit thirst, mind if I have a drink?" His voice was hoarse and dark. Joachim's vision ran red. Jumping towards the nearest sailor, he sunk in fangs into the neck, and let the warm liquid fill in senses.

Well the little vampire went in quite hastily...he was sure to make his own presence known rather than toying with the already poor judgemental beings. But who was he to think that? He too had the habit of being brash...but since he had to share this meal with another...well...

Since the drunk humans were taken by surprise by the vampire's sudden appearance and intrusion, Shadow took the oppurtunity to let only half of his own body to re-emerge from his pool of darkness, his body rising high above the heads of the panicking humans as they made to dash for their fallen friend. Allowing his 'pool' of darkness to crawl and spread out, soon the sailors were trapped as if in quicksand.

Swearing and pleas for help resounded through that cabin as Joachim took his drink and Shadow picked out his victim. Still only half of his body was visible as the rest was the blackest of blacks when Shadow's clawed hand gripped the collar of one of the men and dragged him on over.

"W-what are you t-two?"
the frightened man managed to stutter just as Shadow placed his clawed hand over his chest, a small black aura beginning to create a sort of opening to the man's heart.

"Don't worry about that..none of you will be telling anyone what happened here."
Shadow growled, shoving his hand quite suddenly through the man's chest as he fished around for the heart he desired.

The man's eyes glazed over as Shadow extracted an swirling wispy orb surrounded by hues of black and blue with a single white smoky string swimming around what appeared to be...the man's actual heart. Letting the dead sailor fall to the ground, he began to fade away as the tendrils of darkness reached and gripped around him. The remaining two were terrified at seeing such a feat, scrambling even harder to get out of Shadow's pool of restraining darkness as they heard the grostesque sounds of their fallen comrade's heart literally being eaten.
