The heat was insufferable, irritating, to a point that Ashiki wanted to shriek at the top of her lungs. Her dark, dusky rose pelt did nothing to help her with the waves of heat that seemed to be radiating from every surface around her. With an irritated groan on her maw, she narrowed emerald eyes upon the shimmering, dancing form of water in the distance. She could feel the cold, wet water sliding down her throat now even as she imagined it, and her paws picked up faster as they crossed the dusty earth beneath them. She wasn't entirely sure what had been going through her mind when she decided to take a walk out to the borders of the pride, especially on such a hot day, but she didn't always make the best choices when she was lost in her own thoughts.
"Not that Sarafina would have liked me laying around at home," she muttered to herself, her tail lashing behind her as she took a few faster steps. The smell of water was heavy in the air and had her mouth not been so dry, she was sure it would have salivated over the simple thought of that quenching liquid. The watering hole was just so close.

Good, you attacked the lion's deer friend, now who's your next target?
Nafasi scanned the area. He had left the Kusini lands because all the goody goody were there, and now he was on his own. He had already attacked that white male's klipsringer in an attempt to get something to eat, but apparently that didn't work out to well. At least she was probably dead...but that would mean a meal wasted in the dirt. Nafasi groaned.
"Now w'ere tah go?" He asked no one, not knowing where boundaries ended and others began. He only knew that life in the rogue lands were not as great as other's said it was.
Just look around, someone's got to be around here. Bright blue eyes scanned the area. If there was someone around here, then Nafasi missed them. Over there you twit. He gazed, spotting a lioness at a watering hole. Perfect. He smirked, moving towards the female quietly.

It was with no small amount of relief that the cool surface of the watering hole was before her, even the presence seeming to sap a little of the heat out of the air itself. She drew in a deep, dry breath before she leaned her face down to the placid surface of the water, met with the reflection of her own dusky rose face, and lapped up the liquid eagerly. It was such a reprieve from the heat that she quickly made her mind up to take a swim. After all, who would miss her at home?
"They can come find me if they need me," she mused to herself as she stepped lightly into the water, a deep, pleased breath washing over her as she slowly submerged her body bit by bit. In her mind, she knew that if Sarafina actually sent someone to look for her, she'd regret it - but the lioness didn't often have need of her sister's company.

Nafasi growled at the female entered the water. Although he came from a land that had excess in water (being the two rivers that surrounded either side of the lands), Nafi had never actually learned how to swim. He sat grumpily, waiting for the female to come out. She ruined the plans.
"Ya, well it's no' like it's my fau't." He said aloud, eyes widening. So much for an undercover I'm watching you from a far but actually right next to you kind of deal. He had just blown it. Growling inwardly, he might as well speak to the female in the water before anything else happened. "It's a hot da' toda'?" The white and crimson male stated the obvious to the female swimming. "Wha's a lady like ya doin' by yerself?" He questioned, waiting for her answer.

She had shut her eyes, letting the cool water wash up over her fur, drenching it and soaking through to her skin. It felt nice, soothing, and it was the best break from the heat of the day that she could imagine. What she had not expected in this peaceful moment, however, was that other voice that broke through the silence around her. It wasn't even a voice that made any sense with what it was saying, but perhaps she had only misunderstood what it was saying to her because of her absent-minded attention.
Her eyes flashed open, intent to find the other figure, settling upon the male with no little extent of wariness. She had intended upon asking him what he had said first, but he spoke again, drawing her attention now to those words. Her eyes simply leveled upon him at his comment. Of course it was hot - was he not standing in the same heat she was? She quirked a brow at him and moved her limbs a little in the water, the tip of her mane tuft damp and sticking to the side of her face. She refused to answer such a ridiculously obvious question. The second one, however, was more reasonable.
"Well, these lands belong to my sister and our pride." That in itself seemed, to her, to be all the answer he should need. Of course, he was probably unlucky enough not to know what she meant. "Those on them must abide by our laws, thus, I don't think anyone would be unwise enough to touch me, lest they were purposefully angering Sarafina." She shrugged the best she could in the water and simply turned her green eyes away from him, as if she feared not threat from him at all. He could be dangerous, sure, but she feared Sarafina more than she'd ever fear any rogue.

Nafasi made a snort sound. "So you be a... princess th'n?" He rolled his eyes. A princess would not be stupid enough to be out on her own. Well...then again, with lionesses these days, they were more prone to be the individual of sorts, doing things on there own without permission from their parents or elders.
She sure doesn't look like a princess, seize the opportunity and get in the water!
The white male shook his head. He wasn't getting in the water, no way no how. The adolescent growled inwardly, raising a lip. If only he could find away to drag the female out of the lands... "I don' know thi'...Sarafi'a? bu' I abi'e by no la's.No' on my lan's, an' no' on yers." He stated matter-of-factly.

"Hardly," she muttered as she swam her way through the waters, still letting the cool liquid wash over her. The good thing was that it always stayed cool, so nice and cool, against her body. "Sarafina is the Queen, her sons are her legacy, I'm just her sister." She had never wanted to be anything special, she certainly wasn't sure she could take any more pressure to be the best that she was capable. The family didn't exactly appreciate wasting the blood line from their grandfather, but she couldn't imagine how much harder Sarafina might be on her if she were truly a princess.
At his mention of abiding no laws, her eyes flashed open, green and deadly as poison as they settled on his pale form. She had stopped swimming, her back paws braced against the muddy floor as she was poised there. "If you do not abide by our laws within our borders, then you will be punished and probably killed." An coldly amused smirk spread across her mug at this, a gleam of danger flashing in her eyes. "I think the military could use some amusement, as it is." If he broke a law, she would not hesitate to tell Sarafina, as much as it was loyalty to her pride as it was fear of the queen herself. Sometimes Ashiki was sure she could hear everything.

Nafasi rolled his eyes at the life story that the female had begun explaining. He really, truthfully, wasn't in to hearing another's family history, seeing as his was already complicated enough. Innertwining hers in his mind was just a jumbled mess. When the voice spoke to him again, Nafasi had ignored him, noting he would speak later with a plan. But for now, he would have to do his best to leave the lands unscathed. Or instead of leaving, just...staying in the land unscathed. For now at least.
"Fine, Princess..." He said, giving in if only for a moment. "I do believe I ca' no' abi'e by an' la's wi'hou' knowen 'em." The white adolescent said sarcastically, shaking his head with a small, slightly maniacal laugh. "Do 'xplain." He stated, not really interested in the laws. He oculd tell the voice was fuming, but he would simply ignore it until the time calls to listen.

She really wasn't sure what his interest in the pride was, especially considering he had almost blatantly told her that he didn't care about rules - what lion would care about a pride if they didn't care about rules? She thought, momentarily, that perhaps her threat had had some sort of positive reaction on him, but then, that seemed very unlikely give his demeanor. There was something kind of.. off about him, though she couldn't put her finger on it. It wasn't as if she cared to figure it out, either, given that most of her own family seemed quite off in their own regards.
"Stop calling me that," she snapped irritably, in no mood for pet names, especially ones that had no merit. She could be just as no-nonsense as her sister when she wanted to be. Instead, she swam a little more into the shallows, so that she wasn't so far from him, in order to keep herself from straining her voice. "As far as rules go for outsiders, they are fairly simple. Do not attack pride members and, well, don't step foot in the lands if you're one of those abominations." She wrinkled her nose at the world, her eyebrow furrowing, but she finally shrugged as she glanced back at him. "You're obviously not one. That aside, don't make a nuisance of yourself, Saraphina truly doesn't like nuisances." Had he been a pride member, things would have been much more difficult as far as the rules went. "If you're going to be staying here too long, then I'd suggest you learn some of the rules that govern pride members, but I somehow doubt you're going to be staying." Her brow quirked, but she shifted in the water, turning around to swim a little ways out once more.
