Kohana skirted around and around, she knew in her heart that she was going to find the male, but she stubbornly insisted she just liked the area. What did she care if she saw him again anyway right? Not like he was a friend or anything, and what was so great about friends anyway! What was so great about family or anything else he mentioned. She had always managed just fine alone hadn't she?
The creamy female gave a snort of derision not liking the path she was headed down at all. Who was she kidding, the things he had said made her worry, maybe she was missing out on things. Maybe it was time to make a friend, or find family. She disliked that idea, what family would welcome a loner like her into their midst? Who would welcome her with loving arms? Her green eyes darkened, if only she had one of her own she wouldn't be concerned with such things. With a soft sigh she sat down by a shallow little ditch of water.
Her muscles gave little twitches and she sighed "Can't run from this..." She murmured.

This time, Mafu didn't have to run away from his babysitting job. Today it was someone else the little cubs could torture. Half of him felt sorry for the guy, the other half of him snickered, glad it wasn't him
A sigh escaped his lips as he thought about all his worries in life. He wouldn't have an easy time running from them as he had before. Today was different. He knew he had to settle down, eventually have cubs of his own. But he couldn't see himself as a father. He didn't know if it was his childish attitude, or just the fact that they would be his. He was terrified by the idea.

Kohana blinked and watched as she spotted him, walking along looking worried. She frowned a bit wondering what was concerning him, she had never felt concern like that unless she was starving with no food in sight. She lifted her head a bit and forced her usual carefree smile.
"Mafu! Over here!" She hoped her voice sounded casual instead of laced with the anxiety she felt.

His ears swerved as he looked up to the sound of the voice. He was shocked to see Kohana there, her voice seemed almost happy. He was a little puzzled by this. It seemed that the last time they met she left on a sour note. Maybe he was jumping to conclusions and she had somewhere to go or someone to meet.
He returned her smile lightly as he started to trot over to where she was staying. "Hey there Kohana." He said as he smiled down to her. He had forgotten how lovely she looked.

"You looked worried there?" She dipped her head and looked at him with curious emerald eyes. She had almost forgotten the sensation of looking at his stormy eyes, they managed to hold her attention like the strong feeling of the wind as she ran. Her focus was on him for the moment, a long moment.
Finally she broke her gaze away and lounged back in the tall grass. "Wanna...talk?" Not that it was her forte, but she had to understand what it was that had unnerved her, made her crave the things he had mentioned with casual understanding.
Her tail flicked again his and she waited with her limited span of patience.

He shrugged a little. This girl was full of surprises. She was the last person on earth he expected that would want to talk. He quickly shook the surprise from his eyes as he looked around, "Yeah, I was just thinking about everything that's going on at home."
He didn't know how to start. He didn't want to offend her by talking about his family, but that was where most of the problems were. Sure he had his own troubles he was battling with inside him, but how would he talk about those without the background the story needed to stand?

"Home huh? You have a lot of family?" She tilted her head and looked at him uncertainly, he had seemed so wild and free, like her. Maybe they could still be alike, just with mild differences. Did a family change you a lot?
She returned her deep green gaze to his steely one her attention locked back onto him. Her eyes made a slight trip down his form as she took him in, he was a bit larger then her but their markings were similar. Her eyes traced the red bands about his legs and she gave a slight smile, all in all he was a specimen of health and handsomeness.

He laughed lightly, "Two brothers, a sister and the uncle of twelve." He smiled, his youth flashing in his eyes lightly as he looked back over to her. "Sometimes I wish I was out on my own. Or at least away from that many people." He said as he flicked his tail.
"Anyway, how have you been?" He asked, wanting to bring the attention away from him, he needed a distraction. And he didn't mind hearing her voice.

"An uncle of twelve?!" She looked at him her green eyes widening in shock. She shook her head and laughed "I've never been around more then one or two of our kind before...and I avoid most of the others, the lions, and leopards." She shrugged, it wasn't that she was a snob, she just didn't want to fight over resources when she could run wild and free to new ones.
After getting over the shock of his first answer she relaxed once more and let her tail continue to flick. "I'm good...been thinking, I like it here." Of course her mind had been plagued with thoughts of their conversation, his eyes, her reaction.

He smiled lightly, adjusting his position so he was leaning on his left side. He brought his tail around his paws, "Really?" He had been given a shock of his own. He thought she was a free bird. He let it slide though, not wanting to get into a fight.
"Maybe we'll be seeing more of each other then?" He asked as he closed his eyes and cocked his head to the side, giving her a wide smile. "I think were staying in the area until the cubs get older."

"Oh? Yes well...cubs need to be stable right?" Ha as if she knew what cubs needed. Of course at her age she ought to know, ought to have friends, ought to have family of somekind.
What kind of biological freak am I to remain so...alone. She frowned slightly and looked at Mafu. "Yeah well...I guess some company would be nice you know. Maybe I could umm help you babysit?" She looked at him uncertainly her body tensed for rejection.

He coughed lightly, almost choking on his breath. When he recovered, he looked over to the yellow cheetah with a smile, "That would be great." He said as he stood, feeling like a cub. He walked over to her, his tail swishing behind him. "Are you serious? You'd really help me babysit?" He said, his eyes wide with hope.
This was just what he needed! Someone to help him get through this, and she was willing to be close. This way he wouldn't worry his family, and he could talk to someone who would understand.

"Well yeah, I mean how hard can it be?" She let out a soft laugh. "I can do anything!" She looked up at him with a cocky grin, again the same carefree female who had raced with him.
Ha, this family and friends thing seemed simple enough, she would prove that she didn't need it and be on her way. She looked at him again and tilted her head curious as to why he seemed so happy at her offer of help. "It's uhh not THAT bad right?" She laughed nervously.

He laughed lightly and bounced around her. "You'd be surprised. Have you ever been around a cub? Try to imagine the amount of energy times twenty four." He said. Sure there were only twelve cubs, but when they were together, it was bad.
"You'll see soon enough, I have babysitting duty tomorrow." He said as he started to calm down, but his smile still wide. He couldn't believe that she was really going to help.

"Well no, I haven't really...umm last I saw a cub was maybe four or five full moons ago...near a lake." She shrugged softly, they were little and made whiny sounds. She had left before they had a chance to socialize. She couldn't even remember playing with cubs when she was one.
"Yeah well, no one is as fast as me remember? No little cub is gonna get the better of me either!" She smirked and watched as he started to calm down. He would be greatful for her help, and they could be friends. This did make them friends didn't it? She wondered to herself to uncertain and embarrassed to ask him.
