The Abandoned is a group of malu that have formed into a pack of misfits that live deep in the rainforest, far from the luxuries of the temple. Most are orphaned, lost from their parents and guardians. Some are simply tired of the confines of the temple. And some others are banished from it, by punishment or by their own guilt.

Even though they may come from different backgrounds, they live together in a tightly knit social group, all relying on each other to survive. Most of the pack was brought in when they were just pups. Orphans that Jacklyn took in and taught how to survive. Growing up together and learning to live in the harsh wilderness has made them all close and strong. A family.

There are a few strict ideals that all malu of the Abandoned must follow:

“Nothing is above the pack.”
Malu are free to worship their Gods and Goddesses, but their allegiance to the pack comes first. However, most are able to find a comfortable balance between belief and the pack.

“Tribulation brings power and enlightenment.”
It is rare for an Abandoned to take the ‘easy way out’. Laziness is extremely looked down upon. One is expected to earn their way in life, and put the same amount of effort into the pack as their brother or sister does. This is why the pack has turned their backs on the temple. For one to rely on the shelter, fountains, and easy meals the temple provides is a sign of weakness. To truly worship and thrive, one must find their own way and work hard for their keep. Even if it is painful.

However, leaving the temple has it’s draw backs. Without the Gods’ blessings, most malu that join the pack slowly become more savage or primitive over time. (This can be to varying degrees, and up to you whether or not it truly effects your malu.)

“Everyone has their place, and none is valued above any other.”
Since this society does not have the pleasures of temple life, it must work hard to survive. Every member of the pack has a ‘job’. The malu that are skilled at hunting provide the food. The malu that are skilled with building maintain the shelters. This is where most malu do their worshiping. For example, a malu that worships fire might make sure that there are fires burning around the central territory. This gives light and warmth, and also pleases their God.

No malu is appreciated more than the other. All work is valued equally. To boast that your job is more important is a sign of arrogance, and thus weakness.

“Do not do harm against your brother or sister.”
Fighting, stealing, and killing is strictly forbidden amongst members. If a malu is found guilty of hurting another in the pack, or other such evil deed, the offending malu will be immediately exiled from the pack. However… What one wishes to do outside of the pack is their own business, so long as it doesn’t draw negative attention to the pack.

For example, if a malu wished to kill or harm someone from the temple, that is fine. So long as it wouldn’t cause others to start a war or fight against the whole pack. So… Pick your battles wisely.

Likewise, if a member of the pack is in trouble, the others are expected to help. And if a member is sick or injured, the others are expected to pull together to fill the weak malu’s job until they can return to it.

Jacklyn

-insert image-

Jack, as she prefers to be called, is an old malu that has long since lived outside of the temple. Her past is unknown, and some wonder if even she remembers what it was like to not live in the forest. Her motives are unclear… but whatever the reason, she follows them with dedication that never falters. It is well known that her extended time outside of the temple has left her mind… wavering. More savage. However, she is still witty and wise in a simple way. Not many would question her judgment and strength.

Most of the members are orphaned pups that she led to the wild and raised herself. However, she is never mother to them. A sister or guardian, but nothing more. Jack has a ’tough love’ method, and never coddles or pampers her younger members. No matter how smaller, one is expected to earn their keep. There are times that she might be gentle and nurturing, but that is a rare event.

Dahoma
-insert pic-
Dahoma was the first orphan that Jack took in and brought to the wild. If something ever were to happen to her, him or Jazz would take her place as leader. He is strong, brave, and a bit arrogant. This doesn’t go ignored, and Jack is constantly lecturing him about letting his ego get the best of him. Still, he is a dedicated member, and is quick to bond with his brothers and sisters.

Jazzen
-insert pic-
Jazzen is the second orphan, and grew up alongside Dahoma. If something ever were to happen to Jack, him or Dahoma would take her place as leader. Him and Dahoma have a strong competitive bond, but it’s more of a game to them now that they’ve reached adulthood.

The Abandoned live deep in the rainforest. However, it’s not far enough away that a malu could not reasonably visit the temple. Or for an unsuspecting malu to stumble onto the pack’s territory… But this is very rare. The Abandoned can be rather territorial, and usually do not like for ‘weak willed temple goers’ to invade their lands.

They have formed a primitive ‘village’ close to a small river, where most of them sleep and live. The river gives them a steady supply of water, and the forests are filled with prey for those skilled enough to hunt. Homes vary from personal preferences, but most have formed dens in hollowed trees, or even ‘tree house’ style nests. All sleeping areas are fairly close together, to make the nights safer and more comforting.

There are several ways to join the pack IC. Here are some suggestions:

Your malu was orphaned as a pup, and was found by Jacklyn and taken in. This will work well if you have a Gen 1 baby or child that has no IC parents. You may also do this if you have a Gen 2 malu. However, the pup would have to break ties with their parents, or be considered abandoned by them. Unless their parents joined as well, of course.

Your malu did something bad. A crime bad enough that it was outcasted by it’s friends and family. Or, if something happened to make your malu want to start over in life. This would work well for a malu that is already grown. Perhaps they killed (Accidentally or on purpose) someone, and has left the temple. Or maybe their families were killed and they can’t stand to live where they are anymore… This is really up to you. So long as they swore to be faithful to the pack, Jack would not care about their pasts. In fact, it would be interesting to get more ’evil’ members… (And no your malu does not have to be evil. XD Good members that just... stumbled upon the pack are more than welcomed. <3)

Perhaps your malu was not abandoned… It is known, after all, that Jack has reached an odd level of savageness in her older age. Perhaps the pup was not ‘orphaned’ after all… This option is available for the people wanting a bit of angst and drama. It would not happen often, but it might not be out of the question for Jacklyn to steal children. After all, in her mind… she’d be freeing them from a fake life of leisure. This would open up plots in the future… But once again, this would be a very, very rare happening.

Hopefully that will bring up some ideas. For ooc purposes, please fill out the form below and post it in this thread if you’re wanting one of your malu to join. I’d like for all the members to be RPed, but there will be no regulations about this. For now anyway!

Form:

Name: (The Malu’s name)
Owner: (Your name)
God/dess your malu worships: (Self explanatory)
How does he/she worship?: (Just a brief insight on how your malu views it’s god. EX: If he worships the God of Darkness, does it mean Darkness of the soul, or lack of light Darkness?)
Personality: (Gimme an overview of the malu’s personality.)
Job: (What would your malu offer to the pack? Please note that this doesn’t have to be something expected like hunting. If you malu worships the Goddess of Flowers, he could make sure the forests were well tended, or be a healer with his herbs and plants. Or if your malu worships the God of Music, he could make sure the pack was entertained and happy. These are all just examples though. It can be something that doesn’t have to do with the God they worship as well… Remember, no job is valued more than another!)
How did he/she join?: It can involve one of the above suggestions, or something different! If it’s too overly complicated, please talk to me about it before hand. Or, if you’d rather, we can RP out this part and see what happens.

Don't have a malu that would fit, but would like to join? I'd be more than willing to pay for a custom malu for you! However, this will only be an option for owners that will RP it. If you have an idea and would like to pursue this, send me a PM!

Now open for posting! :O
PostPosted: Thu Aug 14, 2008 11:53 pm

Name: Enoa
Owner:Azumi
God/dess your malu worships:Goddess of Autumn
How does he/she worship?:Enoa sees her Goddess more like an... adviser and confidant more than anything else, and only goes to her in times of need or while in an extreme emotion.
Personality: Often times in initial meetings she is cautious and wary; owlish and secretive. However, talk to her enough, and a fiery spark will often emerge and her true colors will show. It is hard to gain her loyalty and trust, but once it is gained, it is steadfast... but break it, and it will be lost forever and a grudge will be held until the end of her days.
Job:In short, she's a "homemaker." She keeps the small things in order and takes care of those who need it. When she isn't doing that, she often busies herself by making small, colorful ornaments and jewelry.
How did he/she join?:Throughout her childhood she had many fallouts, and what she considered to be "abandonments" by those she cared about. When she was an older child, she left the temple and found herself in the care of Jack and her underlings. Since that time she has grown to an adult and it is here with the pack that she will stay till the end of her life.

Aatuin

PostPosted: Fri Aug 15, 2008 9:32 am

Name: Imogen
Owner: Aatuin
God/dess your malu worships: Goddess of Delight
How does he/she worship?: Imogen worships her goddess in a very personal manner. She considers the Goddess of Delight like a mother or sister who is very close to her. She has primarily lived on her own and has very little memory of her past, thus she sees her goddess as her closest friend.
Personality: This maluess has a very sweet and timid personality. Despite this, however, she has adapted to living on her own and is fully capable of fending for herself. Showing very little rage, she tends to stay near some sort of den as much as possible.
Job: Homemaker. Imogen cares for and loves all living things. She has a sisterly disposition about her and enjoys the responsibility of taking care of others.
How did he/she join?: Imogen came across this pack in her wanderings. She has never been attached to the temple as other malu has and has increasingly longed for a pack to accept her.

Name: George / Jaden
Owner: Kittyintheraiyn
God/dess your malu worships: (Feline) Oddities / Intricacies
How does he/she worship?: George believes her god exists and that is enough for her. Her proof is the fact that she is alive. She speaks to her god sometimes, if you find her murmuring to herself, that is her worship.
Jaden feels her god in everything, not just the obvious, and worships by paying attention to, observing and interacting with those details
Personality: George is a little bit crazy, or perhaps eccentric in her view of the world, she tends to take a much darker view in contrast to her 'sister'. George can be aggressive, never afraid to speak up, or speak out, stating her opinions for anyone to hear. Channeling this into her protective side was Jade's idea, but she is good at it. She loves the night, telling strange stories, and all things odd and out of place. She seems to be the leader of the pair. / Jaden can be slightly withdrawn, speaking rarely and mostly to her 'sister'. She pays close attention to detail, and catches things that others might miss, pointing them out for the enjoyment of Geo. Though she doesn't always go out of her way to seek others out, she is not against interactions within the pack, she doles out her opinions and advice in a soft voice. Jade likes the dappled light through the trees, puzzles, rhymes and when things run smoothly. Jade is the follower, though not without questioning, and advising.
Job: Pack guard. Protection from the wild animals of the forests/hunting/entertaining. / Mediator. Teacher. Bring minor disputes before her, she'll listen carefully. Along with preparing food if needed/looking after the needs of others, passing knowledge to the younger members.
How did he/she join?: *to be determined*
Image: *to be gotten*
