Lao Ma is Xena's mentor and one of my favorite characters. She's wise, beautiful, strong, and surprisingly cynical to keep her husband in a coma. She is only in two episodes, and the China episodes in season 5 with her daughters were slightly painful to watch. Although, anyone who can stand up to evil Xena, and be in episodes where the CGI didn't look like string and Play Doh deserves a chat room at least.

omg, lao ma was hands down the most legit character in all of xena. definitely worthy of being xena's mentor, i mean she easily could take on xena in battle and win, and be spiritually pure about it too

*smiles* My first thoughts when it came to Lao Ma was that she was the exact opposite equal of Alti. XD The producers seem to love doing compare and contrast with characters. XD Considering both were Xena's 'mentor' in a way, Lao Ma did it with personal sacrifice and purity, whereas Alti was making Xena sacrifice ((aka drag her down and provide Xena with plenty of future Amazonian enemies)) and was the exact opposite of pure. XD
I'd say Lao Ma was the strongest female character, spiritually, in this thing at her beginning introduction and what we knew of her. She will always be, in my eyes, the prime candidate for representing Chin((a XD)) for her exacting role as behind-the-scenes ruler of the household and country while still retaining her dignity and self-worth. =3
