Aderes hit the ground hard as her knee gave way finally after another blow. Anger and rage controlled her now, and as she snaked her head around to the the blue stallion that had found her one weak spot she couldn't help but try to rip his leg from him. She lashed out with no result, he was out of her reach. She thrusted herself onto her hooves and attempted to lunge futilely, falling to the ground once more. With all her strength, will, and power it still wasn't enough; her knee couldn't hold her weight after the blows it had received.
She snarled in rage at the blue stallion, set on killing the beast one way or another. He had embarrassed her by exploiting her weakness, her injured knee, and that was unforgivable. She would make him pay, but for now she could do nothing.
She had to give him credit though, no other soquili had actually turned to fight her, all others ran or became her meals. Foolish creature; he should have ran.
Aderes was useless now, unable to attack (or kill, for that matter) the blue stallion before her unless he was foolish enough to come into her reach. Little more than a writhing mass of furious fur and fangs, Aderes watched her would be victim.

Grey eyes rolled in their sockets, flashing white as the stallion stepped warily away from the fallen skinwalker. Flanks heaved with great gasping breaths, sweat soaked the blue hide, made a dark silver by the dappled moonlight. Blood ran thick down his foreleg, black and viscously in the darkness, leaving smeared trails along the ground as he shifted. Nostrils wide as he sucked in great lungfuls of air he stared at the fallen mare, making sure he was well out of reach of her still violent attempts to rise and kill him. Stepping back again he winced. The adrenalin that had coursed through him was draining away and each and every wound the mare had given him was starting to hurt.. He knew he would be no fit state for another fight any time soon, but the mare looked worse off than him. That one front leg he had struck at seemed to have been hiding a weakness as it was completely useless right now. Easing his weight off his torn shoulder he dropped his head, his breath evening out though still loud in the night air. Pricking his ears he glanced at the furious skinwalker again. Why he wasn't just leaving, he wasn't sure. Though he could blame it on his wounds, for certainly he would be almost as lame as the mare soon enough, once his shoulder stiffened up, he knew that wasn't what held him rooted to the spot, well out of range of the other.

The stallion just stood there, but Aderes couldn't see if it was because he was stupid or unable to move. She didn't care either way, she didn't want him anywhere near her at the moment. "If I were you I would leave... Before I was eaten. "

Snorting, still catching his breath, he shook his head, blood-splattered and bedraggled mane quivering yet too mauled to return to its usual glory.
"Hmmm... I doubt you will be able to do such any time soon..." he paused a moment and glanced at her lame leg. ".. at least with that." He glanced around the small clearing, the lengthening shadows indicating that the night was on its last few hours before dawn broke across the sky.
She had a point though, all this blood was sure to attract scavengers, wolves rarely passed up the opportunity of an easy meal.

(Transfered from AIM. Cloud is plain text, Aderes is small bolded text. )
"You mock me, not wise..." Aderes growled at the male. She tried to stand once again, rising further than she had previously before falling again. "I'll make you pay for this, make you pay dearly..."
Cloud looked back at her, taking a couple of steps back as she struggled up before collapsing back once again. His heart having jumped at the thought of her actually being able to stand. His own foreleg was now useless, the shoulder stiffening up and throbbing bad enough to make his muscles twitch involentarily. "Its not mockery when it is the truth." He returned, lip drawing back from his blunt but still powerful teeth momentarily, ears pressed back against his skull. Suddenly the howling of a wolf close by made him jump, head whipping round to stare at the shadowy forest around them.
Aderes chuckled at the howl, a harsh sound to her ears. She didnt like laughture, but she found the situation laughable. "Looks to me as though you'll be the meal of something else tonight. A pitty really, I'll have to kill whomever kills you..."
Cloud turned back to the fallen mare, one ear flicking forwards as he arched a brow. "And why is that? Though I am fully intent on staying alive... So you might still get to kill me later."
"You think that I cant see your bluff?" Aderes asked. "Why would you stay if you could move yourself? You are either incapable of moving as I am at the moment," She emphasized the at the moment part. She knew she would be down for a while yet, but she didnt have to let the male know. "Or you're frozen with fear..."
Cloud couldn't help the smile that touched his lips. After nearly dying at the fangs of this female, he was now chatting with her while wolves were no doubt closing in on them.. he had to be the biggest fool around. "I admit to not wanting to move, but I am capable of a last stand at the very least. Besides.. I figure if I stick with you, you aren't about to let any old wolf take you down.. you may be wounded but your not helpless.. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.. at least temporarily.." He added with a quirk of his muzzle.
He had a point, and it seemed he wasnt as stupid as she thought. They werent friends or allies, she'd kill him the first chance she got, but he was right that she wasnt helpless. That and she'd bear through any pain to keep some other lesser from getting her kill. She smirked, lowering her head but not her gaze. The wolves in the area had always ran at the sight of her like beaten dogs, but she would, in her current predicament, seem helpless to the eyes of a predator. "There may be a brain in that thick skull after all... Though you are the only creature to have actually fought me. You do realize I'd kill you the seccond you came near me."
Cloud watched her, still attentive to her motions, not stupid enough to assume she was out of action for any length of time. After all it was his hide on the line. Ears flicked forwards again from where they had been monitoring the sounds of the forest around them. "Of course.. Id expect little else. But if we are attacked, we stand a lot better chance sticking together than alone. You know I will fight them.. and I know you will also.. I cover one side, you have the other.. if they can't suround one of us, we should hold them off." He studied her, seemingly calm even in this situation. Well, there was no point in panicing..

It was almost as though he wanted to fight, or so it seemed to Aderes. Fighting wasn't killing though, and if the male couldn't kill what worth did he have. She found it odd that this male she didn't even know was intriguing her, she found so few things worthy of thinking of.
She still didn't believe that any mangy wolves would come near her, she could smell her scent everywhere. "If they come, I'll cover one side..." She growled to the male. She shifted her weight, allowing her to apply a bit more pressure to her wounded leg when she wanted to. She hopped that by 'massaging' it now would allow her to avoid any stiffness that may occur. She wanted to bend it, but doing so would alert the blue meat before her to how quickly she'd recover, and she didn't want him to try and get away too soon.

He nodded his head at her words, having already expected her to do so. It simply seemed to be her nature to fight and he knew one such as her wouldn't let themselves be prey to a bunch of wolves just to spite one she considered food.. It was beyond foolishness.
As was what he was now doing.. trusting, if only a little, a skinwalker who wanted nothing more than to tear his hide from his bones. Yet, what choice did he have really? Between the wolves and the downed walker, he preferred the walker.. She, at least, was partly disabled, and being only one creature, she couldn't flank him by sheer mass of numbers like a good pack of wolves could do.
Suddenly he swung round, ears flattening. The shadow of a wolf faded back into the bushes from where it had emerged, too fast to be seen clearly yet he knew there were more just beyond the treeline. As he had expected, the scent of blood had been strong enough to gather the pack... even with the skinwalker’s reputation.
"Great... " he muttered, scowling at the shadows surrounding them.. the night was deep, and dawn was a fair way off as yet.

Aderes eyed the shadows, not lifting or turning her head. She could smell them, the wolves, and their scent was strong. There were many. She could smell something else though; fear. She eyed the stallion then the tree line, trying to discern which the scent wafted from strongest. With a soft shrug she dismissed the thoughts, their value worthless in her mind. She wouldnt budge for now, nothing she could do anyways untill the wolves came in closer. She'd let the lesser fight first, see if he was truly worth her interest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cloud stepped round till he stood at Aderes' rear. Her teeth would be more useful than her hooves, and he could protect her back from that position. Glancing over his shoulder he frowned at the back of her head briefly before turing his attention to the forest in front. It wouldn;t be long before the scent of blood and the thought of an easy meal lured the wolves out and overcame their usual shyness. Suddenl a low growl to his flank filled the air, raising into a loud howling. All around them the cry was taken up by the rest of the pack. Flattening his ears against his skull he shifted his weight. His torn and bloody shoulder throbbed badly, but it wasn't enough to prevent him defending himself and the walker behind him. There was no fear in the stallion though. He was nothing if not a realist and there was little he could do about the situation other than attempt to survive. A grey shadow moved to his side, then suddenly the wolf attacked with a hungry hiss. Cloud swung to meet it, jaw wide, blunt teath sinking into the furry body and flinging it away from himself, back into the bushes. As if that was the trigger needed the entire pack attacked, furious and starved.

Aderes sat there and watched the male fling the wolf. At least, even wounded so, he was quick enough to counter the attack. She half hoped that the male before here would go after the wolf, torture it, make it pay for it’s insolence, but she knew such actions were not the ways of this one… yet. If he was willing to fight, he might just be willing to learn to kill. Aderes’ head swung around as the rest of the pack attacked. They were quick and she could not count their numbers. Fresh adrenaline and anger flooded her veins as the ‘mangy dogs’ dared to come near. She was wounded, not dead; they should have known that and stayed their distance. She caught a brief glimpse of one as it drew near, thin and bony as if it hadn’t eaten in many days, a crazed look in it’s eye; it was not of any of the packs near her territory. Aderes let out a roar as they drew near and attempted to stand to fight. It was useless; she only managed to prop up her upper body somewhat with her good leg. She readied herself for any that would attack her, and attempted to get closer to the blue male. She needed to protect him; he was her kill after all.
----------------------------------------------------------- Cloud:
As that first body sailed away from him, the stallion roared his own challange to the pack. Latting himself react with instinct and not thought, he charged forwards, solid hooves flaying, the creack of bone splintering under his strength echoing through the forest. The crazed yowling of the wolves only made the blue stallion wilder as the instrinct to defend himself and the mare behind him over rode the last of his natural, easy going personality. The harsh thud of his hooves connecting with furry bodies was a sickening backdrop to the screams and squeels that rose around the pair of soquili. Blood ran free, coating the ground in shadowy crimson droplets. A wolf threw itself at Aderes' unprotected rear. Spinning the wild stallion lashed out with his hind legs, the sickening crunch as the wolf's body was shattered joined the howls that filled the air alongside the stallion's shrill scream. Sinking his teath into matted grey fur he flung another canine away from him into the mass beyond. Blood streamed from his shoulder wound, the taste of it filled his mouth as he tore into the pack once again. The crazed attacks always staying close to the downed skinwalker, the wolves that tried to circle her met with Coloud's teeth or hooves.

(Transfer from AIM)
Aderes The sounds that echoed through the woods where like music to Aderes' ears. Carnage, the perfect melody. I took her by surprise that such a stallion as the one before her would act in such a matter, act like such a monster as he ripped through the mangy animals surrounding them both. soquili were timid, fearful, unworthy of the life that they had. Strength, lack of fear, unimaginable will, and (in her mind) a swift stride down a path of violence was what made someone worthy of life. Kalona's, the other breed that like herself were blessed by the raven spirit, were the only ones she had had any inkling of respect for. Few were truly worthy of life, most consorted with the lesser kind without a care, but they feasted on flesh, had power, little fear, and almost always were evil. This soquili before her though was normal, no ounce of kalona blood in him, yet here he was ripping away at the flesh and bones of the beasts around him. He had not feared her, he was strong, and his will had kept him by her when he knew she would kill him. Given time and observation Aderes knew he may indeed be worthy of the life within him, but as a blur of snarling gray fur leaped through the air at the stallions rear she knew there was no time now to think of such things.
Aderes lunged at the wolf, flying at it only a few feet from the ground as she kicked off with her hind legs. She put no weight on her injured fore leg as she did so, but instead used her un-injured one to balance herself. Like a viper striking she snatched the wolf out of the air by it's neck, her fangs grinding against it's vertebra. She hit the ground hard, even though she had moved only a few feet, and her injured knee protested her actions with throbbing pain. Aderes didnt even notice though. The prey in her jaws had attempted to steal her kill, and as adrenaline filled her veins and hate her heart she forced her jaws to shut. The wolfs yelps of pain screeched to a stop as it's head swung down and lolled to the side as his vertebra were separated from each other. With a snarl of disgust Aderes flung the body from her presence; such a weak thing wasnt worth eating. Bodies were flying around her as waves on waves of starving dogs came towards her and the blue male. Without any further hesitation she joined the madness. These animals had insulted her with their actions, and she wouldnt rest untill every last one was dead.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cloud It seemed never ending, the ear-splitting howls of fury and hunger as the grey mass kept flowing. The wolves were desperate, starved and beyond thought or reason, though their kind had little of either to begin with, they threw themselves on the two soquili. One looked like easy pickings, but the mobile stallion was trouble, preventing them from the feast that was rightfully theirs, and thus they sought to bring him down. One gained purchase atop the stallion’s broad back, fangs sunk deep into an already wounded and bloody shoulder. Another went for a hock, only to be kicked away with a powerful lash of solid hoof.
Pain seared through his shoulder and stabbed at his flank, though the weight of the wolf atop him was too little to restrict his movements. It was the sheer volume of them that started to strain his already weakened body. Fangs worried at his wound, sinking deep into the torn muscle of his shoulder yet he had no time to shake the creature free as more and more raced towards him. He had to trust the skinwalker behind him, he couldn’t watch her as well as fight so many starving wolves.
With an ear splitting scream of his own he tore into the pack bearing down upon them. His only chance was to decimate them, or break their will for the hunt. Or both he and the mare would be over run. Blood flowed thick and glutinous, to stain the ground below pounding hooves. Grey-furred bodies littered the clearing, the whines and whimpers of those still breathing only added to the unholy din of the battle. Yet at last, the sounds died away.. leaving only the harsh pants of the soquili and the soft scurrying sounds of the wolves slinking away.
Blue head hanging, the stallion snorted pink-frothed breath, flanks heaving with exhaustion as sweat rolled down his blood-soaked hide. Grey eyes rolled, whites flashing as he searched for the enemy, unable to believe that they had survived such an attack from an entire pack. Muscles trembled, shaking with fear, adrenalin and fatigue. The pain, he knew, would come later. Tilting his head he swung his neck sideways enough to see the mare behind him, was she still alive? Though frankly he would bet money on her out of the two of them, even wounded as she was.
