i know that this is a gh guild, but that won't keep me from asking, i really need advice, me and my little bro are going to buy either of said games, he is currently leaning more towards rockband, so, i wonder, should i get that, or should i wait for gh4?

another question, will you be able to use gh3 guitars in rockband, for the xbox 360 version? same question goes for gh4, would be nice not to need to buy a new guitar, just in case you take your band home, and want to play

should work, though, they said that gh4 guitars will work with rockband, and the reverse, but im still asking

so, which game should i buy, of those? since me and my bro shares all game, unless the one who owns it want to play, let's say with a mate, and it have only got 2 player support, so i think im getting gh4

still, i really wonder if the gh3 guitars, or also the gh2 guitars will work for gh4 (the gh2 one's aint that important, really)

i would like to buy either of the games as soon as possible, or at least pre-order them

In GH4 you can import/make songs (you can also download others' songs) so there's almost endless note-destroying fun because you can play pretty any song you want; plus its drums have a bit more variety than RB drums. Although the GH4 guitar will introduce some kind of new mechanic, previous GH guitars will be compatible with GH4 (on the 360, GH guitars are also compatible with RB, I have tested this and it works, not sure about other systems), too, although they may miss out on a small bit of fun. GH4, bar none.

Actually, you should buy Rock Band, then buy Rock Band 2 as a standalone game. All the downloadable content that you buy for the first Rock Band will be playable right from the get-go. Yes, Rock Band 2 will read all the songs on your console that were on the first RB, then transfer them over for RB2. Also, if you have a hard drive in your console, you'll be able to (not sure how, obviously) download all the songs from the first RB game (The songs on the disc, not downloadable content) onto RB2, so you won't have to switch games.

Or, you could do this.

Buy Rock Band 2, then buy Rock Band 1 as a standalone game. Get all the songs from the first game into RB2. Just like buying a booster disc! Rock Band 2 will have better (and stronger) instruments than the first one (Also, the RB2 cymbals PWN the cymbals in GH4. Check 'em out online.). Also, because Harmonix wasn't able to get all the songs they wanted in the game before deadline, 20 (Yes, TWENTY.) songs will be available at launch for download for FREE. That's a total $0.00. All the downloadable content that was for Rock Band is also going to be downloadable in Rock Band 2.

Rock Band 2 is coming out September 14th, 2008 (Xbox 360 exclusive release date, all the other consoles get it Holiday season.). GH4 is coming out on October 26, 2008. Rock Band 2 is coming out earlier, so you won't have to wait as long.

Or, you can be a cheap-a** and buy the first Rock Band now, and not buy the second game. Even though RB2 will be out, The Rock Band music store is for both games. This means that all the downloadable content that's coming out while Rock Band 2 is out will also be on Rock Band 1. The only difference is instead of the music store being for one game, it's now for two.

Let's face it, besides the extreme in-depth song creator (I'll give you props for that one, Activision!) GH4 is a rip-off of Rock Band. If you're one of those uber creative kind of people that loves doing that kind of thing, go ahead and buy GH4. If you're not going to use the music maker more than twice, and you care more about the tracks that are actually going to be IN the game, go for Rock Band 2.

Also, what did you mean:

Quote:
"since me and my bro shares all game, unless the one who owns it want to play, let's say with a mate, and it have only got 2 player support, so i think im getting gh4"

In Rock Band (and the upcoming Rock Band 2), there's guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. This means that you, your brother, and two of your friends can play at the same time.

Besides, Harmonix is the original creator of the Guitar Hero series, before Activision got the rights and gave development to Neversoft, who created GH3. Go with the originals! XD

I hope this helps! If this was at all confusing, or you want to ask me a question or two, feel free to message me.

I hope no one else mentioned this. You can use the rockband drumset for GH4, you just need to set the settings for it, and instead of five note tracks, it will convert it to only 4 and a drum pedal mark.

free songs will mean all old songs from all old gh games aswell, and that's something i really wanted to do, be able to download old gh songs on the later gh games, and im sure there will be loads of more songs than rockband ever will get, if they actually can make their own

Ah yes, but with lack of vocals? That would be like getting half-assed songs.

So you're saying that Cliffs of Dover, Thunderhorse (I'm not counting the occasional "ROOH"), Misirlou, and Soy Bomb are all half-assed songs?

Ugh... I'm actually semi-offended by that earlier comment. In GH4, you can play vocals! Being a singer in Rock Band (and Rock Band 2), having to sit back until my friends wanted to play a song on the disc would suck.

As for the songs you mentioned, of course not. But that's because those songs concentrate on instrument skills, mostly guitar at that. Think about it, downloading a Rage Against the Machine song to play, without the powerful vocals and lyrics of Zack de la Rocha to back it up?

Sounds like a bad deal.

Also, the songs that you create and upload, I've heard, won't exactly be free. You'll have to pay a monthly fee for access to download the tracks that other people make.

And, technically, Rock Band is the original one. Guitar Hero isn't in the hands of Harmonix anymore, because Activision bought it out. In order to compete, Harmonix made Rock Band. 'Nuff said.

Also mentioning that a good number of songs in GH4 are already available for download in the Rock Band music store, and Rock Band 2 has the better track list, in my opinion.

And finally, Thunderhorse actually does have lyrics. Ever bother listening to them? Okay, so really the only thing that Nathan Explosion ever says is "Thunderhorse!", but technically, that's still a lyric.

Oh really? Have you seen the new Rock Band 2 drums with attachable cymbals? Sure, they're sold separately, but they look a lot less cheap than the GH4 ones.

What about the ION Drum Rocker, built for Rock Band? It also doubles as an actual electric drum kit. Granted, it's extremely expensive, but it's completely epic.

Drums are better in GH4? Because they added cymbals? Psh. My friend, who plays Expert drums on Rock Band, and is a drummer in a band, absolutely hates the GH4 drum kit because the cymbals felt awkward.

Not surprisingly, Rock Band 2 has been getting better critical success than GH4. 1up.com, GameSpot, IGN, X-Play, and Wired have rated Rock Band 2 higher than GH4.

And, how exactly does a drum kit and a guitar with a touch pad make the SONGS on GH4 better? That doesn't make any sense.

The only good thing I can say about Guitar Hero: World Tour is they have a huge fanbase. People want Guitar Hero, even though they don't even realize who the game is made by anymore, which of the 2 games rate higher, or whatever.

Sure, Guitar Hero is raking in the cash now, but I wouldn't count Harmonix out just yet, kids.

You go ahead and play "Hot For Teacher", but let's just see you beat "Caprici Di Diablo."
