What do you prefer to play, acoustic or electric? I played acoustic for a year before I got my electric guitar, but I still think I prefer acoustic better. I do practice on electric guitar to build my chops, and I do rock out on it pretty much daily, but I usually stick to acoustic. I just like the sound and the feel better, it's more mellow, and that's the kind of music I like to play. I've decided the next guitar I'm going to buy is a nice acoustic-electric Takamine, I'll see where that takes me.
You guys?

I've only played electric and thats what I intend to keep on doing. It might be nice if I could manipulate my sound a little more, but as no one will respond to my 'Thrifty Distortion' post, I'm not so confident about how to do it. I'd never take up the acoustic, unless I could play like Miyavi xp

I try to play both equally but i probably play my classical more (because i do not own an acoustic yet...i do consider it an acoustic guitar though). My electric i love as well naturally because its a better guitar. I like both guitars all in all though because the acoustic guitar has a soft melodic sound while you get a more driving sound behind electric. I like music from soft rock to heavy metal so that explains a ton. I have a lot of variety so i can't say i have a favorite.

I prefer an electric, but that might change if I ever get a resonator.

I prefer Electric, because my Marshall amp can make a clean acoustic noise or Clean or Distortion Electric Noise...

I think it's unfair to say that an acoustic makes a mellower sound than an electric. The electric has the capability to create warm, smooth lines and very delicate chord progressions.

I like electric because it's easier on my hands, and because I love to play rock with lots of bends and vibrato, but there are some things where only an acoustic will do (like chilling around a campfire strumming out songs to sing along to).

i tend to lean toward acoustic more just because it can fill a whole song with no percussion, where with electric guitars it sounds cool with the distortion and flangers and stuff but if you wanted to make a song it wouldn't sound just at complete without a drummer. Although I do find it fun to play really loud and add a bunch of effects.

Yea thats true..but it just doesn't quite cut the resonating definition of acoustic. Acoustic guitar just has..a sound that can feel the distintness.

Electric, gives more freedom, pedals, whammys, etc.
Acoustic is still ******** beautiful though.
