Long long ago in a distant land there had been a spoiled prince who like to abuse his power of fire magic to torture his subjects when he did not get his way. He had no heart in which to love anyone but himself. Often he would go about his own kingdom and fool around with girls before leaving them in the dust. But on one fateful day it had been raining and this cause the prince to be very angry for he could not go out into his own kingdom without his fire magic not working. He hated the rain. His subject try to applease the young prince but nothing worked. During the storm there was a knock at the door which irritated him. He went over and open it. The prince yelled as he opened the door. "What the hell do you want on this kind of a hellish day." An old lady appeared before him holding a rose. "May you offer shelter to a nice lady like myself. All I can off is a rose as payment for your kindness. Please let me stay." The stuck up prince smirk. "Hell no," he replied and slammed the door in her face.
The prince had no idea what he had done. A gushing wind then blew the door open to reveal a beautiful witch, who was very angry. "You boy are a spoiled brat and until you can learn to love and have a heart will burn in your hands." she said as her spell was cast. The once beautiful castle he lived in seemed demonic, the prince himself left as a creature to horrible to speak of, and all he was left with was the rose in which each year it loose a petal til he found his heart and someone to love. For many years the castle had become in trapped in a horrible forest and everyone forgot the prince had ever existed.
Several years later.
A young girl named Kaoru, who's father was an invotor, had been strolling around a small town called Athas. She was always filled with life and was sought after everyone including one piticular hunter named Chase Young. Kaoru was simple and liked simple things. She had gone to town to pick up something for her father when low and behold Chase was there.
"Kaoru, how about you and I get married. Have a bunch of kids and rule this town." he said with his dashing smile. "Chase I have said this a million times, NO," she replied and walked off.
Later that night after getting the things that she need and having to constantly say no to Chase she arrived home.
"Hello father?" she called with no answer. She notice a not that her father went off to an inventors gathering and had taken the shadowling to help carry things he had made. "Oh father I hope you and Quesz will be okay."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mean while in a pathroad.
"Well Quesz it seems we have two baths. Hmm.....let's go right," he said which lead into the dark and dangerous forest. Quesz resisted. "Come on boy lets go or we will be late," he said pushing the shadowling forward. The one thing he like to do was invent and get money for his daughter and which he was planing to do when he got to the inventors gathering. After a few hours of wondering, the sounds wolfs could be heard. This spooked the Shadowling to run off. "Just great. This couldn't get any worse," he said. It had started to rain hail and snow. "I spoke to soon." Without seeing where he was going he stumble across an abandon castle. He was cold, bruised, and needed to get inside from the environment. He entered castle.
"Hello. Anyone there. My name is Tamahome. I just need a place to stay till the storm blows over," Tamahome said with no answer. Tamahome proceed forward deeper into the castle til he found a fireplace. "Ah I should be able to warm up here. " Tamahome them started a fire to warm up his body. A near by candle and clock watched him from a distance knowing their master wouldn't be to far away.
Prince Roy was staring into the mirror that hung on his wall, a scowl on his face. He growled angrily at the ugly features that he saw in the mirror. His body was twice the normal size as it used to be and it was higher than the average kitsu. With a swipe of his paw, he shattered the glass before turning his back on the now ruined mirror.
He narrowed his eyes as his bedroom door creaked open and a soft chinging sound was made on the hardwood floors as something approached him. "Master, there is someone here," said a soft, high-pitched voice. Another growl escaped his maw as he swiftly ran from his room and into the room Tamahome was in. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY CASTLE?!" he boomed angrily. Without waiting for a reply, he grabbed Tamahome's shirt and began to drag him to the dungeons underground.
Tamahome tried to explain himself. "I am sorry sir. I just wanted to warm up for the night." He could feel his fur grinneding up again the gravel of the castle floor. He knew he was going to feel that later. He wasn't sure what was going to happen.
Meanwhile in the village Quesz has arrived at Kaoru and Tamahome's house. He had began to claw at the door of the house when Kaoru answered.
"Quesz where is father?" asked Kaoru.
Quesz gave her a scared look. Her father had been gone for nearly a day or so already. He grabbed Kaoru by the end of her shirt and dragged her to the dark forest where he and Kaoru's father had been seperated. Kaoru looked about. It was cold and dark. She shivered a bit . Kaoru white fur blended into the snow. "Father!," called out Kaoru. "Where are you." All she could here was an echo of her voice in the woods. Kaoru and Quesz continue to the castle gate. "Stay here Quesz. I will be back in a few. If anything spooks you just run home." Quesz just nodded. Kaoru open the gate with a large creaking from the rusty gate. Her paws made a crunch in the snow. Kaoru got up to the castle door and knocked. No anwser. "Well I might as well let myself in. Father must be here." Kaoru entered the castle's door. "father? Anyone here." Kaoru continued on here way. The castle was dark and had a vibe of sadness about it.
A small candle holder with blue eyes and a scar on it notice the female kitsu. He hopped a bought over to a clock. "Cloud," said the candle nudging the clock. "What Squall, can you see I was dreaming." said Cloud. "Look its a girl," said Squall in a whisper. Cloud noticed. "We must tell the master."
Kaoru continued to wonder about til she picked up her father's scent in the dugeon. Where she hope he would be there.
Roy ignored the other kitsu's explaination as he tossed poor Tamahome in a cold cell. Locking the man up, he started to walk upstairs when he nearly ran into Kaoru. Now angrier than ever, he glared at her and picked up a forepaw to smack the female kitsu but instead of doing that, he held it up in the air. "What do you want, woman," he asked her harshly. He had hatred towards any females since it was a female who made him like this.
Kaoru fur stood up on end. "Where is my father. " she said. She could see just the big kitsusagi eyes. They seemed say to her but she didn't turn her back toward him. "All I want is my father."
Tamahome meanwhile layed in the dark castle cell and shivered. He started to catch a really bad cold and his fur tone got paler.
Roy shuddered slightly. So that man had a daughter. He quickly glanced over at the cell that held Tamahome before gazing back at Kaoru. "And what shall you give up if I let your....father free?"
Kaoru pondered for a moment. "If you let him go I will stay in his place. "she replied. She didn't want her father to stay in a horrible place like this and die. No. If it ment him living she would stay. "I will give up my freedom."
Roy contemplated Kaoru's offer to take her father's place as his 'prisoner'. "Fine then," he said before going back down to the dungeon and unlocking the door. He slowly opened it and glared at Tamahome. "Your daughter is taken your place here in my castle as my prisoner. Go home and never return." With a swift kick of his hindlegs, he quickly ran upstairs and through the right wing towards his chambers.
A tiny teapot appeared next to Kaoru and nudged her gently. "Let me show you to your wing, my dear," said the pot in a high pitched voice. Not waiting for Kaoru to reply, the teapot began to hop towards the left wing of the castle.
Tamahome was shocked at the beast was going to let him go. But his ear went low when he heard he could never see his daughter again. "Kaoru I will be back for you I swear. I will," he started as his fever made him stumble. An enchanted couch came and picked up tamahome and took him to town.
Kaoru watched as her father got taken away. She let out a small unheard wimper. Tears slowly fell down her face and she followed the tea pot.
The candle and the clock both hopped over to the prince's chambers and knocked. "My master," said Squall. "This girl might be able to break the spell." "I would have to agree with Squall if you can have her find a way to love you then we can all be normal again." said Cloud.
"My dear, I am sure you will learn to like the prince after you get to know him. He may seem cold and harsh on the outside but on the inside..." The teapot's words faded as it reached the main bedroom that Kaoru would be staying in. "Here you go, my dear." It started to hop away when it turned back slightly. "There is one rule in this castle-never go into the right wing. It is forbidden."
Roy growled softly under his breath. "Normal...what is normal?"
"Normal is not setting the curtains of fire when trying to clean them," said Squall in an annoyed manner.
"Look your highness. Maybe try being to nice to the girl. She just lost her father and her freedom all in one day. Maybe do something to cheer her up," suggested Cloud.
Kaoru looked at the pot with tear soaked eyes. "What is in the west wing?" she had a terrible weakness of doing things she wasn't suppose to do.
"The master's chambers," the teapot merely said before hopping away. "Feel free to roam around the other parts of the castle, though, and make yourself at home!"
Roy muttered under his breath at Squall's annoyance. That candle has set things on fire, too. "Like what? I'm not even sure what to do with her," he said angrily.
"Alrighty," said Kaoru with a sad face and then she laid on the bed that was in front of her. She let out a heavy sigh.
Squall looked at prince Roy and sighed. "Make her your guest. Get to know her.
"Getting to know her my prove valuable to breaking this curse," added Cloud.
"Right," Roy muttered under his breath. He didn't see how this girl could help him break the curse he was under. Grumbling some words under his breath, he slammed open his doors, walked into his room, and slammed the doors shut before the candle and clock could enter his room.
-The next morning-
Roy awoke to the sun shining in his eyes. Blinking a few times, he stumbled to his window and was about to shut the drapes when he noticed that there was snow on the ground. Growling under his breath, he stared outside, unsure of what he should be doing.
Kaoru awoke the next morning. Some what refreshed but still sad about her father. She worried about him. She rolled out of her bed and refreshed her self to make her apperance more presentable. She went to her door and poke her head out. No one was here. Kaoru thought to her self that everyone must be still asleep. Kaoru decided, with a little smirk on her face, explore the castle. Kaoru tipped toed about as she explored the decore. It had many horrible statues about. Then her stomach growl. "I wonder where the kitchen is," said Kaoru looking about for any sign for food. She forgot that she had not eatten at all since last night.
