Everyone's herd of it. How can you not with all the spinoffs and fans? I'm wondering what you guys think of it.
Personally, I think it's fun, but I get annoyed to absolutly no end when people start to think that if they're good at Guitar Hero, that they can be good at playing the REAL guitar.
Opinions? Like it or dislike it?

It's why I started playing guitar. Everyone bragged about it and since I couldn't get good I figured there was only one way to 1-up all the douchey guys at school. The rest is history.
And I hate Guitar Hero. Every time I play it I realize I could spend that time actually learning the song I'm playing. You don't need virtual reality for things you can do whenever you want in the real world. Men who jump on turtles and smash bricks with their heads don't play Mario very much.
Also, if you mess up on real guitar you don't hear an obnoxious sound and mess up for the rest of the solo because you can't get back into the rhythm. And you aren't judged for your performance in the real world until you know you can play the song perfectly and you choose to be judged. I beat the hell out of my controller every time I play GH. The real thing is more peaceful to me.

Guitar Hero is amusing for a little bit. I find it a little pointless and a little disappointing since I could very well spend time practicing guitar then practicing Guitar Hero. And it pisses me off when some person thinks they're ssoo great and thinks they're equal or even better then a person who actually plays guitar, ugh.

I hate gutiar hero. more like gutiar zero. Theres all these punks that think that they can do what I do because they can play expert on gh. PLEASE! there are some songs that I know on guitar that are also in GH and the way its done on GH isn't anywhere NEAR how to really play it not to mention that its not even LOGICAL they way they have the pattern on the game.
I also agree with you guys, why would I spend..wait I mean WASTE my time playing GH when I could be playing the song for real or writing my own? Can't do bends, PM's, improvs, squeals, 2 hand tapping or anything on GH. I don't mean to offend anyof you who like it but I think GH is for all those people that just wish they could.
I prefer the real thing over a virtual substitue any day. Just like some other things...LOL

I think Guitar Hero is an ok game, but I much prefer Rock Band, there's more options in that one. But whatever virtual reality instrument you play, I think the games can be utilized as fun warm-ups. I think turning warming up into a game is a great way to make it more enjoyable, and it's a great way to limber up your fingers.
And yes, I do hate the failed abortions of the world who think they're so badass just because they can play fake guitar.

Well I'll just say I "LIKED" guitar hero before i got into real guitar. I love the fact that it actually pushed me into actually playing the real thing. Why LEARN the fake when you learn the real. I realized i was spending to much time on a video game that takes no skill. Now I hate guitar hero because everytime i play it i realize its all fake and its nowhere close to the real thing. Plus it takes away valuable time that i could be playing my real guitar. I do like guitar hero though because it introduces a lot of the oldies (music i had never heard till then) and it also demonostrates, perhaps not 100% acurretly, the basics of guitar. Such as a tremelo bar, frets, hammer ons and pulls offs, and it introduces certain terms of a guitar. I hate that fact that guitar hero makes people think there the s**t when it comes to actually guitar. I also think that people who play hard songs or expert really need to get a life and play real guitar. Right now i know a kid who can do Through the Fire and Flames on expert and has played every guitar hero/rock band. He owns a ephiphone guitar worth around 500 but won't even pick it up. Thats just pitiful in my opinion.

man i think guitar hero is fun. i played bass and guitar waaay before it came out and when it did it was fun...kind of like a....video game?? oh ya cuz that's what it is! the reason why musicians get upset about guitar hero is mainly because they think that the game is claiming that it is just like guitar. but it's just a game. let me ask you, did proffessional dancers grumble when ddr came out?

I dunno, I like Rock Band more than Guitar Hero, because it's obviously more group orientated, regardless of which one, I still like real guitar FAR more than those games. And it also pisses me off about the people who play Guitar Hero and then think that they could play real guitar. The games are kinda fun, but I always figure "Why bother playing a game when you can learn the real thing." The time someone spends on Guitar Hero or Rock Band could be spent learning an actual instrument, and the way I see it, is that this trend will likely pass over, whereas people who play music on real instruments hopefully will not.
